DIBF central to Qatar's cultural renaissance: Minister

The Doha International Book Fair (DIBF) has become a core pillar of the Qatari cultural renaissance and a mirror of the scientific and cultural advancements of the country, thanks to the support and care the prudent Qatari leadership provides to science and knowledge, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi has emphasised.
During his visit to the 34th edition of DIBF, the minister commended the organisational calibre, aesthetic design, and continued advancement of each successive edition.
He toured the ministry's booth, along with several participating Qatari, Arab, and international publishing houses.
With its booth at DIBF this year, the Ministry of Justice has dedicated a special corner to Qatari legal authors, in pursuit of advancing their skills and encouraging them to innovate through the nation-backed cultural movement.Prestigious rewards will be allocated for this innovation, in addition to devoting an Arabic calligraphy corner to reviving this inveterate art form and enriching the cultural framework as a whole, Al Mohannadi highlighted.
He was briefed on the interactive legal presentations of the Ministry and the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, which featured legal publications, awareness-raising programmes, and innovative initiatives highlighting key projects and programs aimed at strengthening legal awareness across all segments of the community. Both government entities are participating with a booth that showcases a flagship interactive knowledge platform spotlighting key legal initiatives and releases, including a debut initiative by Qatari legal authors.
Under one roof, the booth showcases the publications of a group of Qatari writers and researchers affiliated with both government entities, in an initiative that reflects support for national scholarly output and the promotion of Qatar's legal identity. In addition, the booth features informative presentations on the Official Gazette, the nation's permanent constitution, the legal and judicial journals, as well as the Domestic Achievements Book, prepared and published annually by the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
Overall, the corner is receiving a record turnout from visitors, along with high demand for its interactive services and legal publications, with the AI and Arabic calligraphy corners attracting huge crowds, epitomizing the significant interactive initiatives in advancing self-skills and responsiveness to the imperatives of this era, in addition to keeping up with the ongoing wave of modernisation and advancement sweeping through the domains of science and knowledge.

Dr Al Ansari underlined that Israeli officials are now presenting positions that go beyond the occupation of Gaza or the West Bank or the isolation of Jerusalem, to include talk of occupying sovereign Arab countries, which constitutes a clear violation of international law. He said Qatar has repeatedly condemned these practices, including the settlement plan to separate East Jerusalem from the West Bank, stressing that such policies will not bring security to Israel and will not lead to calming the situation in the region. The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed the US-Russia summit that brought together US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. He expressed Qatar's hope that these efforts would contribute to reaching a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the Russia-Ukraine crisis, reiterating Qatar's position calling for peaceful solutions. He said Qatar initiated humanitarian solutions, most notably the reunification of children affected by the war with their families, confirming that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through Minister of State for International Cooperation HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, is continuing follow up on this file with the concerned parties. He said Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi is in constant contact with the concerned parties. 'Qatar is working to facilitate negotiations despite the complexity of the situation, with a commitment to finding constructive solutions and supporting the will of the parties to reach a sustainable agreement,' he said.

Hamas's response very positive, awaiting Israeli response to achieve comprehensive ceasefire pact: MoFA spokesperson
DOHA: Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Dr Majed Al Ansari confirmed that Qatar and Egypt have received a positive response from Hamas regarding the joint Qatari–Egyptian proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza. He noted that the proposed framework includes 'a temporary 60-day pause to allow the entry of humanitarian aid,' while awaiting the Israeli response to this development. In his weekly media briefing, Al Ansari said: 'Hamas's response is very positive and almost identical to Israel's previous response.' He clarified that 'the situation is now in the stage of exchanging replies,' and reaching an agreement requires both sides to adhere to the terms of any deal reached, with international parties ensuring such commitments are upheld. He added: 'There is no specific timeframe for Israel's response, but we hope it will be positive. If there is a positive response, then there will be a ceasefire, but I cannot say when.' He stressed that the current proposal is a continuation of earlier ones, noting that 'the language currently on the table is the language proposed by the US president's envoy.' Warning of the consequences of failure, Al Ansari said: 'If we do not reach an agreement now, past crises will be small compared to what may happen.' Congo peace efforts On the Democratic Republic of Congo, Al Ansari stated that Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HR Dr Mohammed Al Khulaifi is 'in constant contact with the concerned parties to implement the agreement regarding the March 23 Movement,' confirming that Qatar is hosting intensive meetings in Doha aimed at achieving a comprehensive agreement between the two sides. Qatar has also been engaged in African peace diplomacy, particularly in supporting negotiations between the Congolese government and the March 23 Movement (M23).

Qatar, Malta hold round of political consultations
DOHA: The second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Malta has been held in Doha. The Qatari side was chaired by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi. The Maltese delegation was headed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Tourism of the Republic of Malta HE Christopher Cutajar. The talks discussed bilateral cooperation and ways to strengthen ties between the two countries.
