'Xavi never trusted me'- Raphinha slams ex-Barcelona manager
Brazilian star Raphinha has criticised ex-Barcelona gaffer Xavi for his struggles during the Spaniard's tenure
The 28-year-old has been in red-hot form for the Catalan giants under Hansi Flick this season, however, he was a shadow of his former self in the previous seasons.

The La Selecao star struggled to find his footing at Barca upon moving from Leeds United in 2022 in a deal worth £55 million.
Raphinha has now opened up on his frustrating initial years at Barca, claiming he didn't have enough backing from Xavi and his coaching staff.
'I felt that neither he nor the coaching staff trusted me,' the Brazilian told journalist Isabela Pagliari. h/t (Barca Blaugranes).
'When there was no other, I was there and played the full 90 minutes. I gave everything I had to deliver and solved the games, but when there was someone else who could play in my place, I did it without thinking.

'Sometimes, I was doing everything in 60 minutes and I would take myself out.'
The former Rennes star also said that he worked hard to earn Xavi's confidence but to no avail.
'I tried to fix it, I had several conversations with him, but I saw that these didn't make any difference. He had his way of thinking,' Raphinha added.
Raphinha also contemplated leaving the Catalan giants last summer amid offers from Saudi Arabia but eventually changed his mind.
He has silenced his critics by reinvigorating himself this season with stellar performances.
Flick has undoubtedly unlocked the full potential of Raphinha, who has bagged 35 goals and 21 assists in all competitions.

The Brazilian is also touted to be the frontrunner for the prestigious Ballon d'Or award, having put Barca in a firm position to win a treble.

Ex-Steelers CB on T.J. Watt drama: 'He's not even the highest paid player on this team'
Ex-Steelers CB on T.J. Watt drama: 'He's not even the highest paid player on this team' T.J. Watt's contract drama has taken over headlines — and CBS Sports has weighed in. Ex-Steelers CB turned CBS Sports analyst Bryant McFadden supported Watt on the issue, arguing that DK Metcalf's $33 million per season could play a role: '[Watt is] not even the highest paid player on this team,' McFadden said via CBS Sports HQ. 'An outsider is the highest paid player on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and what I mean when I say outsider — a player that played with another organization. T.J. Watt is a homegrown player. They drafted him — he's developed to be one of the best playmakers in the National Football League on the defensive side.' McFadden continued by highlighting how Metcalf's contract, as well as Watt's competition with Myles Garrett, is playing a huge role in the extension holdup. Agreeing with CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, McFadden concluded that if Watt doesn't get a new deal soon, he will 'hold-in' for training camp. Aaron Boone's Message With Yankees Facing Giancarlo Stanton Decision
Aaron Boone's Message With Yankees Facing Giancarlo Stanton Decision originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Yankees are one of the best teams in baseball, but even the top squads sometimes need help from unexpected players. That's what utility man Pablo Reyes did in Thursday's 1-0 win vs. the Kansas City Royals. Advertisement With stars like designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (elbows) and infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (groin) ailing with injuries and outfielder Aaron Judge taking an off day, the Yankees' offense was quiet. However, Reyes got a spark going with a leadoff single to right field in the top of the eighth. Judge then pinch-hit for infielder Oswald Peraza and struck out looking, but outfielder Trent Grisham moved Reyes to second on a groundout. Infielder Paul Goldschmidt reached on an infield single to first, and Reyes scored on a throwing error by Royals pitcher Lucas Erceg. New York manager Aaron Boone opened up postgame about how the team reacted in the dugout after Reyes scored, via YES Network. Ex-NFL QB wants Dolphins to trade for rookie Browns passer
The post Ex-NFL QB wants Dolphins to trade for rookie Browns passer appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Miami Dolphins have unexpectedly entered the NFL rumor mill thanks to a bold idea floated by former Green Bay Packers quarterback Kurt Benkert. In a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Benkert suggested the Dolphins should consider trading for Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel. He cited the team's strong interest in Gabriel during the 2025 NFL Draft and implied Miami viewed him as a strong scheme fit before Cleveland selected him. Advertisement 'I wouldn't be shocked to see the #Dolphins trade for #Browns QB Dillon Gabriel at the end of preseason. They liked him a ton and saw him as an incredible scheme fit with athletic upside and were going to take him a few picks later, but then the Browns drafted him (per source). The Dolphins traded that pick away after Gabriel was no longer available' The quarterback situation in South Beach has shifted rapidly. The Dolphins drafted Quinn Ewers in the seventh round (231st overall), but their reported interest in Gabriel goes back to April. According to Benkert's suggestion, Miami had targeted Gabriel as a strong scheme fit before the Browns drafted him, and they eventually pivoted to Ewers instead. With Tua Tagovailoa's injury history, the team has to be looking at a Plan B behind their starter—one that fits their system without disruption. Meanwhile, Cleveland also selected Shedeur Sanders, adding more depth—and more uncertainty—to their own quarterback room. Unlike Sanders, who throws right-handed and may require system adjustments, Gabriel could step in without changing the structure of the playbook. Meanwhile, Zach Wilson, currently slotted as QB2, spent most of his 2024 as a backup for the Denver Broncos. A move for Gabriel could add stability to a vulnerable depth chart. From the Browns' perspective, the idea isn't entirely far-fetched. Cleveland selected the Oregon product in the third round but may face tough decisions behind an injured Deshaun Watson, who is recovering from Achilles surgery. If Gabriel underwhelms in camp, the Browns could look to flip him for value—fueling Dolphins trade rumors just weeks before the regular season. Advertisement While Benkert has limited NFL experience, he's built a large platform through his quarterback analysis and Madden content. Whether the Dolphins seriously pursue the move or not, the idea of trading for Gabriel shows how deeply Miami is evaluating every option to bolster their quarterback room. With Tagovailoa's injury history and the offense built for a lefty, the thought of pairing two southpaws might not be as far-fetched as it seems.
