Tranmere sign ex-Everton midfielder Whitaker
Tranmere Rovers have signed former Everton and Notts County midfielder Charlie Whitaker on a two-year deal ahead of the 2025-26 League Two season.The 21-year-old spent nine years with the Toffees and before joining Notts in January on a short-term deal until the end of the season.Whitaker scored four goals for Notts County in 21 appearances for the club before leaving at the end of his deal."I'm really excited. I've spoken to the gaffer and I'm just really excited with the ambitions of the club. Hopefully I can help with that and push the team to where they need to be," he told the club website."I know it's a really big club, the fans want hard work from you and they expect that every game. I'll give 110% every time I'm on the pitch."

It's where I grew up and I would love to be able to be a part of growing Cardiff and taking it to the Premier League where it belongs. 'I know how amazing the Welsh fans and Cardiff fans are. It would be amazing to try and do something together.' 'We are trying to engage with Cardiff and more news will come out on that in the future but hopefully we can get something done.' Bale's interest in Cardiff comes just two months after his former Real Madrid and Tottenham team-mate Luka Modric was announced as a co-owner of Welsh rivals Swansea. Bale himself had previously been linked with a potential investment in Plymouth Argyle but that now appears to have been ruled out. Cardiff, who were last season relegated to League One for the first time since 2003, have just appointed Brian Barry-Murphy as their new head coach.
