Douglas Murray exposes UK's blasphemy law after a man was convicted for burning Quran

Sky News AU3 days ago

Author Douglas Murray discusses a UK man burning his own copy of the Quran shouting in Turkish, 'Islam is the religion of terrorism'.
The man has been convicted of a religiously activated public order offence and fined.
'If somebody were to set light to a Bible, everybody would be running out saying, this man has an absolute right to do so,' Mr Murray told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
'It's a blasphemy law that the state is allowing to be pushed through by threat of force.
'There's no good argument for why the Quran has to be treated as the holiest of holy books.
'No, it's only that intimidation, violence, and thuggery seems to work.
'And I thought that was the sort of thing that the law was there to protect us against.'

‘Needs to be removed': Sustainability education linked to climate anxiety

Institute of Public Affairs Brianna McKee says sustainability must be removed from the Australian schooling curriculum to reduce climate anxiety. 'Children are at a particular stage of psychological development where they think about things in very concrete or literal terms,' Ms McKee told Sky News host Rowan Dean. 'So, when they hear phrases like 'climate action now' or 'sea levels are rising', they interpret that literally, and that causes anxiety. 'The first step towards addressing this is to take sustainability out of the curriculum. 'It needs to be removed.'

Arizona Governor blasted for vetoing bill limiting Chinese land ownership near military bases

Government Accountability Institute President and author Peter Schweizer says it should have been a 'no-brainer' for Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs to pass a bill for which she is coming under fire for vetoing. Ms Hobbs is being scrutinised for vetoing a bill which would have banned the Chinese government from owning a stake of 30 per cent or more of any property in the state of Arizona. 'Look at what just happened, what Ukraine just did with Russia,' Mr Schweizer told Sky News host James Morrow. 'They were able to smuggle in drones … and take out major aircraft at Russian military bases. 'If you own a vacant lot near military installations, there's no reason … that China could not execute the exact same type of operation. 'This is looking at the realities of warfare today. 'Drone technology and other advanced technologies would allow China to use these strategic locations near US military installations to launch military strikes.'
