The Dallas Stars' regular season finish did not match their expectations. They lost to the Nashville Predators on Wednesday night. Instead, it gave them more problems. The biggest concern came when forward Jason Robertson left the game in the second period.
He took a hard hit from Nashville's Michael McCarron and did not return. Reporters saw him leave the arena wearing a knee brace. The team said it was a lower-body injury.
Jason Robertson's injury adds to Dallas Stars' trouble
Jason Robertson was one of Dallas' best players all season. He played in all 82 games and led the team with 35 goals. But in this game, he was on the ice for just over six minutes before he got hurt. Losing him just before the playoffs is a major blow for the Stars.
Head coach Pete DeBoer said after the game that resting players in the final games was supposed to help avoid injuries, not cause new ones.
'The purpose of resting people down the stretch was to hopefully avoid injury, and unfortunately, we didn't do that with the Robertson injury,' he said. 'So, tough night.'

Miro Heiskanen and Tyler Seguin still have question marks
Jason Robertson isn't the only injury worry for the Stars. Miro Heiskanen is now recovering from knee surgery he had in January.
He has started skating again but hasn't played yet. With the regular season now over, it's not clear if he'll be ready for the first round against the Colorado Avalanche.
Reports say the team is hoping Heiskanen can return, but there's no guarantee. 'It's very possible Heiskanen is not available at all during the first round,' said TSN's Chris Johnston.
Tyler Seguin, another key player, finally returned to the lineup on Wednesday.
He had hip surgery and missed 58 games. The good news is that he played nearly 15 minutes and picked up an assist. That was one of the few bright spots in a game filled with bad news.
The Dallas Stars are heading into the playoffs with a lot of concerns. They've now lost seven games in a row. Jason Robertson, their top scorer, got hurt in the last game of the regular season. Miro Heiskanen may not return in time.
Tyler Seguin came back and played well, yet the team is not in a healthy state. Dallas will play Game 1 on Saturday against the Avalanche; they must rapidly locate solutions if they hope to go far in the playoffs.

'We know what they're capable of,' said Sam Reinhart, acknowledging the Edmonton Oilers' threat. 'They're led by two of the best players in the world. That's no different. I think the whole world is seeing the defensive capabilities they have this year. … So it's going to be another big test for us.' The Florida Panthers know that defeating the Edmonton Oilers on their home ice is not going to be an easy task. Rogers Place has developed a reputation as one of the loudest and most hostile venues in the NHL. During last year's series, the Oilers fought back forcefully at home, particularly during Games 4 and 6, when they outscored Florida by a staggering 13-2 margin. 'They're a really good team,' Panthers' Carter Verhaeghe said. 'They've been to the Final. They're definitely a hungry team. It's not easy to go to the Final two times in a row. So they want it bad. So it's for us just kind of to play our game. We're going to be ready too.' Since their final encounter in the Final, the teams have met twice during the regular season, and the Florida Panthers have stolen both wins. But neither team is relying on recent history. Jake Oettinger says 'I'm the best goalie in the world' after controversial Game 5 bench sparks Dallas Stars Playoff fallout

Oettinger stands tall amid Stars' Game 5 controversy (Image via: Getty Images) In a postseason filled with promise, the Dallas Stars' campaign came to a crashing halt, not at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers alone, but in part due to a decision that continues to stir debate across the hockey world. Goaltender Jake Oettinger, the team's rock through four straight playoff runs, was shockingly pulled just seven minutes into Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. The fallout has been nothing short of explosive. The fallout of DeBoer's decision lingers in Dallas With the Stars trailing 2-0 after just two shots, head coach Peter DeBoer made what many now call the defining decision of the series. Oettinger, a workhorse who had faced more shots than any other goaltender this postseason, was yanked early in favor of backup Casey DeSmith. The move backfired immediately, Edmonton struck again less than a minute later and cruised to a 6-3 win, sending Dallas home. DeBoer stood by his call postgame, saying, 'There's one motive, and that's how do we survive this and get it to a Game 6?' But for fans and analysts alike, the logic rings hollow. Oettinger was not injured, fatigued, or struggling throughout the series. In fact, he later said he felt 'as healthy as I've ever felt' and admitted to being both 'surprised and embarrassed' by the early exit. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo The coach hinted at previous discussions about whether Oettinger needed rest due to illness earlier in the series, but ultimately, Game 5's decision was made in the heat of the moment. That moment, however, may haunt the franchise for years. While Oettinger remained composed in his response, emphasizing growth and accountability, the silence between coach and player after the loss speaks volumes. 'My job is to stop the puck. And I feel like I'm one of the best in the world, when I'm playing well, doing that. So that's all I'm in a focus on,' Oettinger said bluntl. But this time, the sting isn't just from the loss, it's from the sense that Dallas may have benched its best chance at survival. As the dust settles, this wasn't just a coaching decision. It was a turning point and the fallout is far from over.
