Delhi Weather Update: Rain And Thunderstorms Likely For Next Three Days, Says IMD
According to IMD's latest bulletin, heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms or lightning are likely to occur from Friday to Sunday. Daytime temperatures are expected to stay below normal, between 33 to 35 degrees Celsius, while the nights will remain cooler at 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.
On Friday, very light to light rainfall is expected during the day. Winds will shift directions, starting from the northeast in the morning, turning southwest in the afternoon, and moving southeast by evening, at speeds of 10 to 15 kmph.
The IMD mentioned that the rain intensity may reduce slightly from Friday onwards, but rainfall is expected to continue through the weekend. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, and thunderstorms are likely to occur during this period.
Saturday and Sunday are also expected to see light rain, with maximum temperatures ranging between 34 to 36 degrees Celsius and minimums around 24 to 26 degrees Celsius. Winds will blow from the northwest and northeast, at speeds of 10 to 20 kmph.
On Thursday, some parts of Delhi received moderate rainfall, while isolated areas saw heavy downpours that led to waterlogging and traffic issues. The maximum temperature recorded was 29.9 degrees Celsius, five degrees below normal and the minimum was 24.7 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
IMD also reported that Delhi has been experiencing uneven rainfall over the past few days. This has caused problems for commuters in several parts of the city.
Residents are advised to remain alert and plan their travel carefully, especially during peak hours, as weather conditions remain unstable and more rain is expected in the coming days.

Goa experiences weak monsoon, dry start to Aug
Panaji: The southwest monsoon faltered in Goa during the first ten days of Aug 2025, with rainfall far below seasonal expectations and most of the state's 13 rain gauge stations recording only scant precipitation. 'There is a 10% deficit for Goa compared to a 1% deficit for the entire Indian subcontinent. This doesn't augur well for Goa as the peak monsoon months of July and Aug contribute about 61% of the seasonal total,' he said. 'We have only 21 days of Aug left, with no convective systems forming over the Arabian Sea or the Bay of Bengal.' Kumar attributed the weak monsoon to several unfavourable meteorological factors, including weak low-level jet streams — with wind speeds as low as 10 knots — limiting the moisture transported from the surrounding seas. Additionally, dry northwesterly winds from the arid regions of Saudi Arabia and Africa dominated the lower atmosphere up to 2,500 metres, further suppressing the moisture inflow. 'The monsoon trough and the offshore trough have not been positioned favourably, and no depressions have formed in the Arabian Sea or the Bay of Bengal this month,' Kumar said. 'These conditions have collectively hindered the development of active monsoon phases over Goa.' Seasonal totals remain uneven, with Dharbandora receiving the most at 2,795.4mm, and Mormugao trailing with only 1,385.7mm. So far, the state has recorded a total of 2,054.2mm (81 inches) of seasonal total rainfall since June 1. With the state still in the peak monsoon window, Kumar cautioned that a continued shortfall could stress water resources and disrupt crop cycles, particularly for paddy farmers dependent on consistent rainfall. Fisherfolk have been advised not to venture into that area during this period.

The city may receive very light to light rain on Monday and Tuesday, with a possibility of one or two light-to-moderate spells on Wednesday and Thursday. It was seven degrees Celsius higher than Saturday's maximum temperature when intense rain brought down the mercury. "There was no significant change in minimum temperatures, but maximum temperatures rose markedly by 6-7 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours over Delhi. Very light to light rain or thundershowers are likely during the next five days in the city," said a Met official. IMD has predicted that there is a possibility of very light to light rain on Monday and Tuesday, but the city may see a few spells of light to moderate showers on Wednesday and Thursday. The maximum temperature is expected to stay between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius. "On Wednesday, one or two spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely, with a higher probability during evening or night hours. On Thursday, there are chances of a few spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers, with a higher probability during morning hours," said an official. Delhi's air quality continued to stay in the 'satisfactory' category with an AQI of 76.
