Ensure proper sanitation, infra upkeep in Mohali: Gmada chief
Mohali: Acting on public complaints about poor sanitation and infrastructure upkeep, the chief administrator of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (Gmada), Vishesh Sarangal, has directed strict enforcement of cleanliness and maintenance measures in Gmada-developed sectors.
In a recent order, Sarangal deputed junior engineer-level officers sector-wise to ensure routine inspections and monitoring of roads, green belts, and other public infrastructure. "It is GMADA's responsibility to maintain cleanliness and essential services in the sectors developed and managed by it. No leniency will be shown to those neglecting their duties," he stated.
To streamline the process, Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, additional chief administrator-2, Gmada, SAS Nagar, has been appointed as the nodal officer.
He will oversee the sanitation and infrastructure upkeep of all Gmada-developed urban estates and sectors. The deputed JEs will coordinate with sanitation service providers and submit regular reports to the nodal officer.
The chief administrator has warned of disciplinary action against staff found negligent, stressing that the order aims to bring accountability and efficiency in service delivery. "Several sectors in Mohali lie outside the municipal corporation's jurisdiction and fall under Gmada's purview.

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh is reaching out to nearly 2.96 lakh children with special needs through 'Sugamya Worksheets,' developed in collaboration with UNICEF. Designed to enhance foundational learning while building confidence and self-esteem, this initiative aims to integrate Divyang (differently-abled) children into the mainstream with the proper support and resources, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday. These worksheets cover Hindi and Mathematics for students from classes 1 to 8, with 1,300 worksheets developed for classes 1 to 5 and 600 for classes 6 to 8 - totalling 1,900 worksheets. Created for all categories of children with disabilities except those with complete visual impairment, the worksheets use simple language, vibrant visuals and engaging formats to make learning accessible and enjoyable. The printing of the worksheets has been completed, and their distribution to all districts has been ensured. At the block and school levels, worksheets are now being delivered.
