A surprising moment from Super Bowl LIX has led to an arrest months later. On February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, a performer disrupted the halftime show. He walked out with a Sudanese flag reading
'Sudan and Free Gaza',
pausing the performance.
Now, on June 26, 2025, Louisiana State Police arrested 41-year-old Zul‑Qarnain Kwame Nantambu for his actions during Kendrick Lamar's star‑studded act. The arrest stems from an investigation launched right after the incident.
Zul‑Qarnain Kwame Nantambu deviated from role and was arrested after months-long probe
Nantambu was hired as part of the 400‑person cast during Kendrick Lamar's halftime performance. State troopers say he added a protest by running across the field clutching a Sudanese flag with the message 'Sudan and Free Gaza".
During the show, he refused to stop when security ordered him, leading to his removal from the field. Surveillance and reports showed that although he had authorized access as a dancer, his protest wasn't part of the act.
After Super Bowl Sunday, New Orleans police initially did not charge him. But Troop NOLA and the Louisiana State Police continued the inquiry. They obtained an arrest warrant from Orleans Parish Criminal District Court, and Nantambu surrendered on June 26, 2025, with his attorney's help.

NFL bans Zul‑Qarnain Kwame Nantambu for life and investigation remains open
Following the arrest, the NFL issued a statement praising the Louisiana State Police and confirming that Nantambu is banned for life from all NFL games and events. The league said it takes any on‑field disruption seriously and aims to hold the performer fully accountable.
Sgt. Katharine Stegall of Louisiana State Police noted the case is still under review.
While the halftime distraction did not air live, it made headlines and sparked debate after the broadcast.
The flag-waving incident bridged international topics, primarily the wars in Gaza and Sudan, with one of America's biggest sporting events. The incident hasn't completely played out as authorities are still investigating.

Biology teacher brings animal brain to class in Telangana: Students allege it was cow's brain; booked under cow slaughter act, suspended

HYDERABAD: What began as a well-intended biology demonstration turned into a controversy in Telangana's Vikarabad district. A biology teacher at the zilla parishad high school (girls) in Yalal mandal was suspended and booked under the Telangana Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act after she brought an animal's brain into the classroom to teach students about brain anatomy. While the teacher claimed the brain was that of a sheep, several students insisted she had identified it as a cow's brain during the class. Biology teacher Kasim Bi brought the brain to school in a tiffin box and used it during a standard 10 science class to demonstrate the structure and function of the human brain. Students said she placed the organ on a plate and claimed it was a cow's brain. She explained that it was a live example to help them understand a chapter on brain functioning. While the demonstration initially drew curiosity from students, it quickly turned controversial. The next day, villagers protested outside the school, alleging it hurt religious sentiments and demanded action against the teacher. Objecting to the teacher reportedly bringing a cow's brain into the classroom, they said that it was an offence under the Cow Slaughter Act. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like USDJPY đang đi lên không? Telangana stops issuing station bail for drug users: Addicts now sent to court, rehab centres; move aims to curb relapse, aid recovery

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) has stopped issuing station bail to people caught consuming drugs or possessing small quantities. Instead, they are now being produced before the court and sent to de-addiction centres for rehabilitation. The shift in policy came after police saw encouraging outcomes in six recent cases, including those involving students, where the individuals were booked under Section 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and denied station bail. Officials said the intervention helped prevent further substance abuse and put the individuals on a path to recovery. 'Earlier, we used to issue station bail to addicts. But in most cases, they immediately went back to consuming ganja or other drugs. Even their families were unable to stop them. Keeping this in mind, in recent cases, we have not issued station bail. Following due procedure, they are sent to de-addiction centres,' said TGANB director Sandeep Shandilya. 'Even if someone is not addicted, if they are caught consuming drugs, it means they have access to them. By sending them to de-addiction centres, that access can be restricted. They also receive counselling and medical help, which can help break the habit at a nascent stage,' said Dr Srinivas SRRY, head of the psychiatry department and nodal officer, Addiction Treatment Facility, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Warangal.
