Pink Villa2 days ago

All eyes are on the recently released Telugu film Kannappa, which features some of the most exciting cameos by Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal and more. The movie hit the big screens on June 27 and within a day, there have been strong positive reviews about it.
And now, Vishnu Manchu has shared a special message that he received from fellow filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma.
Ram Gopal Varma's message for Vishnu Manchu
Taking to X, Vishnu Manchu shared a screenshot of the recent message that he received from Ram Gopal Varma after the release of his film Kannappa.
The director clearly mentioned how he is not a believer in the idea of Gods and devotees and so he would never see any film dealing with these as a subject matter. But in the case of Kannappa it was different.
Lauding Vishnu's performance as Thinnadu, RGV wrote, 'As Thinnadu, you didn't just act but you embodied a temple of faith like a high priest wielding a ferocity that left me speechless.'
RGV lauds Vishnu Manchu's stint amid hype for Prabhas' cameo
While fans are all praises for Prabhas' cameo appearance in the film as Rudra, for Ram Gopal Varma, it is not enough reason to see Kannappa in theaters. The filmmaker towards the concluding part of his message mentioned how he would book a ticket and watch the film only because he wants to see Vishnu Manchu on-screen.
He wrote, 'All in all people might be coming into the theater for Prabhas, but now I am going to buy a ticket in the theater to see you.'
Kannappa box office collection so far
Speaking about Kannappa's box office collections, it made a big opening day mark by grossing Rs. 11 crore in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
While the star power seems to be the driving force behind the film's success, it is expected to make a significant mark in the coming days.

In a recent event, DSP has now revealed that although he is immensely proud of the song, he is aware that the song has now been copied by another artist without any authorisation. (Also read: Samantha Ruth Prabhu says she was surprised to be offered Oo Antava: 'Never considered myself good-looking, hot woman') Allu Arjun and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in Pushpa song Oo Antava. As per a report on India Today, DSP was addressing fans and media at an event, where he talked about Oo Antava, and said in Telugu, "You've all enjoyed the 'Oo Antava' song from Pushpa. I created that song in five minutes while working in my studio. There is no place on this Earth where that song hasn't been played, and now an English singer has copied the song.' He went on to add, "I am thinking about filing a case against them and what to do. But I am proud that our Telugu song has been copied." More details Although DSP did not name any artist in his speech, many fans pointed out that it was the Turkish song Anlayana, composed by Atiye. The track was released last year, and the comments section of the music video has been flooded with fans pointing out how strikingly similar it is to Oo Antava. Oo Antava was one of the major highlights of Pushpa: The Rise. The song became a massive hit, and Samantha earned praise for her bold and captivating performance. The film, which also featured Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles, was a huge box office success. However, in the sequel, Pushpa 2: The Rule, instead of Samantha, Sreeleela performed a special dance number titled Kissik.

South Indian Film Employees' Federation moves Madras HC over underpayment to technicians

Chennai: The simmering dispute over wages for film technicians in Tamil Nadu reached the Madras High Court on Monday, with the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) alleging that technicians are being pushed to the margins even as leading actors earn up to Rs 300 crore per film. Appearing before Justice K. Kumaresh Babu, FEFSI counsel G. Mohanakrishnan accused members of the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) of trying to 'snatch the livelihood' of local technicians by recruiting crews from other States to finish ongoing productions. He said technicians in the State often earn less than Rs 3,000 a day despite the industry's soaring top-line salaries. TFPC's counsel Krishna Ravindran countered that most of the council's members are small-budget film-makers, not corporate studios, and insisted the producers are 'equally concerned' about worker welfare. He pointed out that TFPC and FEFSI have traditionally signed a wage-fixing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) every three years, the last of which, inked in 2022, expired on March 9 this year. According to Ravindran, relations deteriorated when FEFSI, suspecting TFPC of backing a breakaway technicians' body called the Tamil Nadu Thiraipada Thozhilalargal Sammelanam, issued a non-cooperation directive on April 2 to all 23 of its affiliated craft unions. The order, he said, triggered walk-outs on sets and 'significant monetary losses' to producers as projects stalled. Ravindran added that FEFSI has since begun collaborating with a separate producers' faction, the Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA), prompting the State's Information and Publicity Minister M. P. Saminathan to step in and convene talks. Justice Babu observed that, with the MoU no longer in force, the court could not compel FEFSI members to work on TFPC-backed films. At the same time, he noted that individual producers remained free to sue crew members for breach of existing work contracts, if any. Stressing the need for an amicable settlement, the judge urged both sides to nominate, by Wednesday (July 2), two retired High Court judges who could act as mediators. 'Given the tight production schedules and the livelihoods at stake, it is in everyone's interest to resolve this across the table,' Justice Babu said before adjourning the matter.

Devi Sri Prasad Accuses Turkish Singer Of Copying Oo Antava, Says He Might Take Legal Action

Devi Sri Prasad has slammed Turkish singer Atiye for allegedly copying Oo Antava from Pushpa in her song Anlayana. He says legal action is under consideration. Years after Oo Antava became a cultural phenomenon with the release of Pushpa: The Rise, the song has now stirred up an unexpected international controversy. Composer Devi Sri Prasad, popularly known as DSP, has accused Turkish pop singer Atiye of copying the chart-topping track in her single Anlayana, released seven months ago. The Allu Arjun–Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer continues to make waves—but this time, for alleged plagiarism. Speaking at a recent event, DSP expressed both disappointment and reluctant pride. 'Many people enjoyed Oo Antava in various ways, but now I've come to know that it has been copied into Turkish. There are many similarities in singer Atiye's version. One has to call it a plain copy," he stated in Telugu. He went on to say, 'I'm thinking about filing a case against them. But I'm also proud—this just shows the international appeal of our music." Turkish singers have a history of rehashing songs from India. This one, released in 2024, rehashed Oo Antava Oo Oo Antava from Pushpa (2021) by our own @ThisIsDSP. By the way, this is not sampling. Turkish song details: Singer: Atiye Song: Anlayana. — Sylvian (@Sylvianism) June 29, 2025 The song, known for its seductive beats and Samantha's sizzling screen presence, had taken social media by storm upon release in 2021. Interestingly, even Samantha herself was initially hesitant about the bold number. Reflecting on the experience in an earlier interview with Galatta Plus, she revealed that the role pushed her far outside her comfort zone. 'Who thinks of me for a special song, and that too, one in which I had to look really hot? I was always playing the cute, bubbly, girl-next-door." She added that it wasn't just about dance steps. 'It was about the attitude—the fierce, confident woman who's always comfortable in her sexuality—all of which I am not," she admitted candidly. Recalling her first day on set, she said, 'I was shaking in front of 500 junior artists before the first shot. I was so nervous." With Oo Antava continuing to leave an impact years later—both creatively and legally—it seems the song's journey is far from over. Whether DSP proceeds with legal action remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the reach of Telugu music now extends well beyond borders. First Published:
