2025 Wisconsin Football Predictions: Badgers Ranked 51st in RJ Young's Ultimate 136

College Football 2025 Wisconsin Football Predictions: Badgers Ranked 51st in RJ Young's Ultimate 136 Published Aug. 10, 2025 10:26 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link This isn't your average college football ranking. My Ultimate 136 is a set of rankings that is fluid, but it's my job to look ahead and make a claim for all FBS teams based on what I know and why I know it. Here are the three pressing questions I started by asking when putting together this list: Who do I think is good? Why do I think they're good? What are the chances they will finish above or below my expectations? Here is a look at where Wisconsin lands in my Ultimate 136. Wisconsin ranking: 51 Last year's ranking: 27 Top player: CB Ricardo Hallman: Was targeted 33 times in 319 coverage snaps last season and allowed just 20 catches, the second-fewest in the Big Ten among cornerbacks with 300-plus coverage snaps; was an AP Third-Team All-American in 2023. [Wisconsin's 2025 schedule] RJ's take: Stop me if you've heard this one before: Wisconsin is best when it runs the ball. Since the final game of the 2022 season, the Badgers are 12-0 when they rush for 150-plus yards. So, after the Badgers rushed for their fewest yards in a full season since the turn of the 20th century, it's easy to see why Phil Longo was no longer fit to call the offense. ADVERTISEMENT Making matters worse in 2024 was the 20.8 points per game the team averaged, which was its lowest in a full season since 2004. Now, Jeff Grimes takes over as offensive coordinator after overseeing a Kansas offense that ranked in the top 15 in rushing and produced a 1,000-yard rusher in Devin Neal. He had better get it sorted out fast with games at Alabama, vs. Iowa, at Michigan, at Oregon, vs. Ohio State and at Indiana this season. 2025 Maryland Football Predictions: Terrapins Ranked 76th in RJ Young's Ultimate 136

College Football 2025 Maryland Football Predictions: Terrapins Ranked 76th in RJ Young's Ultimate 136 Published Aug. 10, 2025 10:03 p.m. Here is a look at where Maryland lands in my Ultimate 136. Maryland ranking: 76 Last year's ranking: 33 Top player: WR Jalil Farooq: Started 25 games in four seasons at Oklahoma, totaled 89 receptions for 1,287 yards and 7 TDs; also returned 32 kickoffs for 708 yards. [Maryland's 2025 schedule] RJ's take: After watching QB Billy Edwards transfer to Wisconsin, Mike Locksley hopes former UCLA QB Justyn Martin can help him get his offense back on track and put that 4-8 2024 season in the rearview mirror after what had been three-straight seasons of seven wins or more. ADVERTISEMENT The Terrapins were balanced in 2024 — equally awful on both sides of the ball. They scored the 101st most points among 134 teams (23.7) and allowed the 105th most among 134 teams (30.4). Locksley knows he can't afford to endure another season like that. Adding insult to injury is seeing star running back Roman Hemby transfer to Indiana. It might feel like the Terrapins need time to rebuild, even in the age of the instantaneously competitive roster, but the schedule is forgiving, with their toughest games being Indiana and Michigan, and both of those are coming to Maryland. Maryland Win Total Odds: Over 4.5 (+104) Under 4.5 (-128) Have an issue with my rankings? Think your alma mater is too low, or your school's rival is too high? What are the chances they will finish above or below my expectations? Here is a look at where Iowa lands in my Ultimate 136. Iowa ranking: 29 Last year's ranking: 24 Top player: DL Aaron Graves: Named to the Lott Trophy preseason award watch list, started all 13 games last season and finished with 6 sacks, 8 tackles for loss and 3 forced fumbles. [Iowa's 2025 schedule] RJ's take: The addition of former South Dakota State All-American quarterback and national championship QB Mark Gronowski is the best recruit Kirk Ferentz has ever had at the position. Gronowski has passed for over 10,000 yards, won the Walter Payton Award — best offensive player in the FCS — and is 49-6 as a starter. ADVERTISEMENT Hawkeyes fans have ached for a functional passing offense for nearly a decade, and they got a taste of that last year before Cade McNamara went down with injury. This year they'll get a QB who is not just a capable passer but a runner to pair with Phil Parker's annually tough defense.
