Spain chosen as host of 2031 Ryder Cup, more than 30 years after it last welcomed the event

The Camiral resort, which was previously called PGA Catalunya, has hosted European Tour events and the Spanish Open.
It has been owned by Irish businessman Denis O'Brien since 2008. Irish media have reported that O'Brien has invested tens of millions of euros in upgrades to the courses and the hotel, as well as accommodation on the property.

This will be the second time for Spain to host the Cup after Valderrama in 1997, and just the fourth time it will be played in continental Europe after Le Golf National outside Paris in 2018 and Marco Simone outside Rome in 2023.
The Ryder Cup is closely tied to Spain because of European team stalwarts Seve Ballesteros, José María Olazábal, and Sergio García.
This year's Ryder Cup will be held at Bethpage Black in New York in September. The next one staged in Europe is in 2027 at Adare Manor in Ireland.

He made his comments on SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio Wednesday with Carl Paulson and Dennis Paulson. 'Making the Ryder Cup team was my loftiest goal to start the season. I was coming in with almost no carryover points from '24, which hurts, and it was unusual for me for a Ryder Cup year. And then obviously skipping the first month of the season and starting late, I just thought, you know, boy, this would be the end goal,' Spieth said. 'And the idea that I have a chance for it is very cool.' Spieth knows he likely is going to have to make a FedEx Cup playoff run all the way to Atlanta and the Tour Championship. A victory in Memphis this week or Baltimore next week would go a long way, but he also hasn't won in more than three years. His experience and leadership would be valuable for the U.S., but he still needs to show Bradley that his game is up to snuff and ranks among the 12 best to deserve a pick for the U.S. side. 'It'd be incredible. I've played in five of 'em. They're the coolest events that you can play in, in a sport. And I'd love to play in another five if I can or more,' he said. 'This one will be special, being at Bethpage. I played the PGA really well there. And obviously, your Long Island crowd and tri-state area, coming and representing your country there, would be the mecca of what you can do for a home game.'

Notre Dame hopefully won't be missing a projected offensive starters for long
Notre Dame WR Jaden Greathouse didn't participate in practice today. Based on what I'm hearing, I'm not overly concerned. So far early in Notre Dame football's fall camp, their haven't been any injuries of none, but there was news that we need to watch for with wide receiver Jaden Greathouse. The one of the projected starters, was reported to have missed Wednesday's practice by Ryan Roberts, but the good news is that he also said he 'wasn't overly concerned.' Obviously this is a good news, bad news situation, as the Irish has talent behind him on the depth chart, but not much experience. Greathouse is expected by many to have a breakout season, after dominating Notre Dame's last two College Football Playoff games with 13 receptions for 233-yards and 3 touchdowns. It was a solid 2024 for him, as he totaled 42 catches for 592 yards and 4 total scores. Hopefully this is just a minor setback leading up to a major year for Greathouse.
