Yankees Announce Plans for Marcus Stroman After Horrid Rehab Start
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources.
The New York Yankees signed Marcus Stroman to a two-year, $37 million deal last year. He has struggled as a Yankee, and his struggles have continued on his rehab assignment.
Last year, Stroman had a 4.31 ERA in 30 games and did not pitch in the postseason. This year, he had an 11.57 ERA in three starts before landing on the injured list with a knee injury. In three rehab starts, he has a 6.97 ERA for the Yankees' Double-A affiliate.
Stroman gave up 10 hits and five earned runs in 3 2/3 innings of work on Tuesday. Overall, he has allowed eight earned runs in three outings during his rehab assignment. With Ryan Yarbrough on the injured list, Gerrit Cole out and Luis Gil not slated to return until August, reportedly, the Yankees may have to live with Stroman getting a shot in the rotation.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 20: Marcus Stroman #0 of the New York Yankees reacts after pitching during the seventh inning against the Seattle Mariners at Yankee Stadium on May 20, 2024 in the Bronx borough of New York City. MoreThe team is building him up as a starter, but Stroman has noted he is open to coming out of the bullpen now, unlike he was in spring training, according to The Athletic's Brendan Kuty. Manager Aaron Boone spoke on the team's plans with Stroman after his latest poor outing.
"Obviously got roughed up a little bit in the outing and the line wasn't great," Boone said per the New York Post's Greg Joyce. "But we'll dig into it some more and see what the best next move is."
It seems like all the Yankees have been doing with Stroman is digging into how to fix the former All-Star. He is not long removed from his last All-Star season, 2023. Stroman will not hit the 140 innings mark required for his player option to be available for next season, so this could be his last run in pinstripes.
It will be nearly impossible for the Yankees to trade him at this point with his struggles and contract. They will need to figure out how to at least get some value out of him, even if that means moving him to the bullpen.

Former Ravens kicker Justin Tucker suspended for 10 games
Justin Tucker's career could be over after the NFL suspended the former Ravens kicker for the first 10 games of the upcoming season for violating the league's personal conduct policy. Justin Tucker's career could be over after the NFL suspended the former Ravens kicker for the first 10 games of the upcoming season for violating the league's personal conduct policy. The suspension comes as Tucker faces allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior and misconduct. The league had previously traveled to Baltimore to interview massage therapists who had accused Tucker of inappropriate sexual behavior, according to three women who participated in the inquiry. The interviews were part of an investigation by the league, launched in response to a total of 16 massage therapists at eight different spas in the Baltimore area who have accused Tucker of inappropriate behavior that allegedly occurred during the 2012 to 2016 time period. Per the NFL, Tucker will be suspended without pay for the first 10 weeks of the 2025 regular season for violations of the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy. Tucker's suspension will take effect on roster cutdown day, Aug. 26. He's eligible for reinstatement on Nov. 11 and can work out for teams ahead of training camp and sign a deal that would allow him to participate in the preseason. Tucker leaves Baltimore as a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, an eight-time All-Pro, a member of the 2010s All-Decade Team, and the Highest career FG% % in NFL history (89.1%, min. 100 attempts).

Caitlin Clark's Teammate Accused Of 'Quitting' On The Fever
Caitlin Clark's Teammate Accused Of 'Quitting' On The Fever originally appeared on The Spun. As if dealing with a losing streak isn't tough enough, the Indiana Fever have a disgruntled player on their roster who refuses to suit up. Advertisement The Fever bolstered their roster in free agency by signing a plethora of experienced players, including DeWanna Bonner. The six-time All-Star was supposed to elevate Indiana's frontcourt while bringing championship pedigree to the locker room. Bonner was averaging 7.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game before sitting out for "personal reasons." It wasn't until this week that WNBA fans learned that she wants out of Indiana. Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports reported Tuesday that Bonner has "no interest" in returning to the Fever. Apparently, she got frustrated over her reduced role. "Multiple sources told Front Office Sports that the fit in Indiana was 'off' from the beginning," Costabile wrote. "Bonner—who was signed to be an anchor with championship experience for the team's young core—was expected to be a starter." (Photo by Jeff Haynes/NBAE via Getty Images)Fever fans believe Bonner quit on the team mid-season. For that reason alone, she probably won't get much support from the public. Advertisement "Wish her the best and her actions and behaviors at the beginning of the season really made us fans love her. Disappointed to see her leave like this. The younger Fever players really respected her and wanted to win for her," one fan said. "Who quits on her team in the middle of the season because things ain't going their way? This is so low man," a second fan wrote on X. "Wanting to be a starter on a team that runs a fast paced offense at near 40 is insane," another fan said. "Like she started the season in the starting lineup and played poorly, and someone better took her spot. It be like that sometimes." The Fever are expected to work on a trade for Bonner. Her preferred landing spots are the Atlanta Dream and Phoenix Mercury. Advertisement Do you think Bonner quit on the Fever?
