OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — UTSA associate head coach Jamie Carey has been hired as the new women's basketball coach at Omaha, athletic director Adrian Dowell announced Sunday.
The 44-year-old Carey takes over for Carrie Banks, who was fired last month after she posted five straight losing seasons. Omaha's last winning season was 2016-17.

Carey previously was on staffs at North Texas for one season, Texas for four and Colorado for two. She also was assistant women's national team director for USA Basketball from 2010-14.
Carey was a standout player at Stanford and Texas from 2000-05 and played for four seasons in the WNBA for the Connecticut Sun.

2025 College Football Odds: Should Texas be Underdog at Ohio State?

College Football 2025 College Football Odds: Should Texas be Underdog at Ohio State? Updated Aug. 13, 2025 7:02 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link Apparently, being ranked preseason No. 1 doesn't mean you're automatically the favorite in Week 1. Case in point: Texas is an underdog to No. 3 Ohio State in to open the season, despite the Longhorns topping the preseason AP poll. And bettors should note that, historically, this is unprecedented. Dating back to 1978, Texas is the first top-ranked college football team to be an underdog in Week 1. According to John Ewing at BetMGM, however, the Longhorns' line is on the move. Yes, they're still 'dogs, but at the sportsbook, Texas has shifted to +2.5 from +3. Not only that, 59% of the money is on Texas to cover. Can quarterback Arch Manning help lead the Longhorns to victory in Week 1 over Ohio State? Speaking of the public believing in Burnt Orange, just last month, one bettor placed a $300K wager on the Longhorns to win the title at +500. That big bet could cash in for $1.8 million if Texas wins the College Football Playoff. When it comes to line movement, it's also worth noting that Texas' title futures have shortened to +475 from +500 over the last month. With this in mind, let's take a look at some of the Longhorns' other markets at BetMGM as of Aug. 13. College Football Playoff first overall seed +500 (bet $10 to win $60 total) SEC Champions +275 (bet $10 to win $37.50 total) Texas regular-season wins Over 9.5: -190 (bet $10 to win $15.26 total) Under 9.5: +155 (bet $10 to win $25.50 total) To Make the SEC Championship Game +120 (bet $10 to win $22 total) Is Texas being disrespected ahead of its showdown with Ohio State? So, should Texas be the underdog when it faces off against Ohio State on Aug. 30 on FOX? "First Things First" co-host Nick Wright understands bookmakers' logic. "When you're No. 1 vs. No. 3 and it's at The Shoe, then you're going to be the underdog, especially when Ohio State might have the No. 1 player in the 2026 draft and 2027 draft," Wright said. "You're not going to be a favorite in Ohio State against a great Buckeye team." Chris Broussard, on the other hand, contends that the line is disrespectful to the Longhorns. "If [Texas] is the best team in the country, then they're supposed to win. Don't make them No. 1 in the preseason and then say, "You've got one week to be the best team in the country, and then that's it." ADVERTISEMENT Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? Jerry Jones Admits What Everyone Already Knew About Him

Jerry Jones Admits What Everyone Already Knew About Him originally appeared on The Spun. The truth comes out. For how many years now have fans and media members made the assertion that Jerry Jones cares more about eyeballs than championships? In Jerry's world, all publicity is good publicity. And the 82-year-old oil maverick recently admitted as much while speaking at an event for the new Netflix docuseries "America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys." During a red carpet interview, Jones appeared to say the quiet part out loud. Telling the reporter in question: "I do believe if we're not being looked at, then I'll do my part to get us looked at." "The beautiful thing for networks or, if you will, streaming companies, is that the NFL is a 365-day-a-year interest factory. A lot of programming you have to spend as much to promote it as you do to make it. The Cowboys are a soap opera 365 days a year. When it gets slow, I'll stir it up," Jerry explained. "It's wonderful to have the great athletes, have the great players, but there's something more there," he concluded. "There's sizzle, there's emotion, and if you will, there's controversy. That controversy is good stuff in terms of keeping and having people's attention." It's been fairly obvious for a while that the Cowboys view themselves more like a television product than a championship-contending NFL franchise at this point. And while Jerry would obviously like to win, it has to be on his terms and he's well aware that interest in his team is more profitable than victories alone. Maybe that's the reason Dallas' owner currently finds himself embroiled in a nasty contract dispute with All-Pro Micah Parsons who's been looking for an extension to remain with the team for the better part of two years. The Cowboys are currently valued at a globally-leading $12.8 billion when it comes to professional sports franchises despite not winning a Super Bowl or even reaching a single NFC Championship Game in almost three decades — which is actually quite impressive when you think about it.
