ST bus services launched for 15 remote villages in Gadchiroli for first time
Gadchiroli, Aug 19 (PTI) In a bid to boost connectivity to remote areas, the police, in collaboration with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), have launched bus services to 15 villages in Maoist-affected Gadchiroli district. For the first time since Independence, bus service has been started to Mouza Ambezari, around 100 km from the district headquarters and 21 km from the previously connected village of Katezhari, a release from the office of the Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police stated. As part of a campaign to improve public infrastructure and accessibility, bus services to 15 remote villages were launched on Monday. The new bus route connects Gadchiroli district headquarters to Chatgaon, Dhanora, Yerkad, Murumgaon, Khedegaon, Ambezari, Mangewada, Jaisinghtola and Malewada, and will benefit 15 villages, the release said. The service is expected to ease challenges faced by residents, particularly in accessing healthcare, education, and government services throughout the year, it said. Villagers welcomed the first bus by playing traditional musical instruments and celebratory dances, while school children greeted it by waving the national flag. The service was flagged off by police sub-inspector Ajay Bhosale, the officer-in-charge of Katezhari outpost, under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Neelotpal. According to the police, similar bus services were launched earlier this year on the Gadchiroli-Katezhari and Markana and Aheri routes under police protection. The police department has also overseen the installation of 507 mobile towers, the construction of 420 km of roads, and 60 bridges across the district to address the mobility issues of the local population, the release stated. Matches were largely played on the outside courts and moved up to the main courts only as the latter stages of the competition drew in. The prize money pales in comparison to the singles competitions. The big names, the highlights of the sport, would stay away from doubles and focus on singles. Even among the doubles events, mixed doubles played the inferior role. It is played only at the four majors and the team events in United Cup and Hopman Cup. The draws are smaller than the men's and women's doubles events. At the COVID-affected 2020 US Open, mixed doubles was one of the events scrapped. "Fans want to see Djokovic, Alcaraz and Sinner even if they are brushing their teeth." Sure. But to label it as a Grand Slam win, going down in history books, handing the champions a $1 million prize cheque, feels disingenuous. Chhattisgarh to get 34 modern central libraries
The Chhattisgarh government is building 34 new central libraries, named Nalanda Complexes, which will provide students with high-quality books for higher education and competitive exams. These libraries will be equipped with modern facilities and will offer both online and offline study options. Apart from major cities, these libraries will also come up in three Naxal-affected districts — Sukma, Dantewada and Narayanpur — and in remote forest regions such as Surajpur, Baikunthpur, Chirmiri, Kunkuri, Jashpur, Balrampur, and Pendra. Raipur currently operates three central library-cum-reading zones — the 1,000-seater Nalanda Complex-cum-Oxy Reading Zone, the 800-seater Takshashila Central Library-cum-Smart Reading Zone, and a 500-seater Central Library. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the Chhattisgarh government is working to give flight to the dreams of the state's youth. 'We are building Nalanda complexes in cities across different regions so that youth from every corner can access quality higher education.'
