In a shared mission to support cultural and creative content, United Media Services has signed a collaboration protocol with publishing house Aseer Alkotob.
The partnership aims to select and adapt standout Egyptian and Arab literary works — including novels, short stories, and autobiographies — into compelling drama productions for Arab audiences.
This collaboration reflects a mutual belief in the power of uniting cultural and creative efforts with the media industry, to elevate Arab literature on screen and create content worthy of Egypt's rich cultural legacy and media leadership.

Egypt's Navy receives first locally built Azimuth tugboat "Ras El-Hekma" from Alexandria Shipyard - Defence
The Egyptian Navy received its first locally built Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) tugboat, Ras El-Hekma, from Alexandria Shipyard on Thursday, the Egyptian Armed Forces announced. According to the Egyptian army, the tugboat is the first of three being constructed for the Navy under a contract between the Navy and Alexandria Shipyard, in cooperation with the French classification society Bureau Veritas (BV). The Ras El-Hekma tugboat (RASTR 3200 model) is competitive in price and has a powerful 85-ton bollard pull capacity and exceptional manoeuvrability. It is equipped with systems from top global maritime suppliers. This is the first time Egypt's marine industry has produced this model of tugboats. In manufacturing it, Alexandria Shipyard aims to enter the global tugboat market and aspires to become a regional hub for building and exporting this class of tugboats in the coming phase. Vice Admiral Ashraf Atwa, Commander of the Egyptian Navy and Chairman of the Marine Industries and Services Authority, attended the handover ceremony. In addition, Rear Admiral Hossam El-Din Ezzat, Chairman of Alexandria Shipyard, senior Navy officials, BV representatives, and delegates from leading international maritime companies attended the event. OPEN// FM: Egypt keen on fostering coop. with Rwanda in various areas
CAIRO, June 5 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said Egypt pays attention to fostering cooperation with Rwanda in various fields and elevating bilateral relations to higher prospects. Abdelatty made the remarks on Thursday in a phone call with Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Olivier Nduhungirehe. The top Egyptian diplomat called for building on the fruitful cooperation between Egypt and Rwanda in the economic and trade fields, which in turn serves the two countries' interests and pushes efforts aimed at achieving development and stability in Africa. The two ministers addressed the latest regional developments, along with challenges facing the African continent, where Abdelatty underlined the importance of calming the situation in the Great Lakes, to contribute to restoring stability in the region. Egypt's "Blackout" to Compete at 37th Palm Springs International ShortFest
Yara Sameh Egyptian short film "Blackout" will compete at the 2025 Palm Springs International ShortFest, one of the world's premiere festivals dedicated to short form film. The 37th edition of the festival, running June 24-30 in the famed Sonoran Desert town in California, will showcase 311 films hailing from 64 countries and territories. "Blackout" will screen in the Welcome to the Neighbourhood section, alongside over 300 shorts from more than 100 countries. Directed and written by Ahmed Moustafa ElZogbhy, "Blackout" follows a family during the early hours of Eid, as a health emergency spirals into psychological tension inside a Cairo apartment building. With the male family members gone in search of a doctor, the women and children are left behind, until a mysterious tenant and her companion arrive, triggering a confrontation with their fears and expectations. The film stars Sedky Sakhr, Gihan El Shamashergy, Yara Goubran, and Malek Emad. Co-producers include Mohamed Hefzy, Safei ElDin Mahmoud, Aly El Araby, and more. It is produced by Hind Metwalli, Mohamed Hefzy, Safei Eldin Mahmoud, Baho Bakhsh, Ali Elarabi, Ahmed Amer, Sherif Fathy, Ibrahim El-Nagari, and Mustafa El-Kashef.
