Uttarkashi Flash Foods: Rescue operations continued on Thursday in the high-altitude villages of Dharali in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district after a cloudburst led to flash floods.
At least five people were killed, and nearly two hundred people have been rescued so far.
A cloudburst in the Kheer Ganga river's catchment area triggered devastating floods, damaging or washing away several houses on August 6.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held review meetings at the Disaster Control Room, assessing ongoing rescue and relief operations in the affected regions. He also met people in affected areas.
CM Dhami sanctioned Rs 1.3 lakh each from the State Disaster Relief Fund to 15 families in Sainji village whose houses were completely destroyed.
While five bodies have been recovered so far, the CM confirmed that 274 people have been rescued.
Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan said it is likely that some people are stranded in Gangotri. He added that the rescue operations will continue.
Maharashtra Minister Yogesh Ramdas Kadam said 151 tourists from the state are stranded, out of which 30–31 are currently unreachable. Efforts are ongoing to trace and relocate them safely, he added.
Chinook and Mi-17 helicopters are being used to airlift stranded civilians. Around 180–200 tourists in Gangotri are receiving food, shelter, and medical aid from the armed forces.
Teams from SDRF, NDRF, ITBP, and Indian Army personnel are on the ground conducting large-scale rescue operations in Dharali, Harsil, and other remote areas.
Roads in the region, including the Ganganani-Harsil road, have been heavily damaged due to landslides triggered by a cloudburst. The Gangotri Highway near Papargad has been restored, and work is progressing swiftly near Ganganani, where a bridge was washed away.

August 9: Several districts, including Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Dehradun, and Nainital are likely to experience heavy rain at isolated places. Thunderstorm activity with lightning and intense to very intense rain is expected at scattered locations throughout the state.
August 10: Bageshwar district is likely to witness heavy to very heavy rain in isolated areas. Heavy rainfall may also affect Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Champawat districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and intense rain are likely across all districts at certain spots.
August 11: Heavy to very heavy rain is expected in Bageshwar district. Dehradun and Nainital may also receive heavy rainfall in isolated areas. Thunderstorms with lightning and very intense rain are likely to occur at some locations across the entire state.

The toll on animals includes 1,611 cattle deaths and 25,755 poultry birds reported that the monsoon has severely disrupted basic infrastructure across districts; meanwhile, PWD roads worth Rs 1,07,181.80 lakh were damaged. Jal Shakti water schemes hit: Rs 68,299.78 lakh and power supply infrastructure worth Rs 13,946.69 lakh got damaged. Additional damage was reported to health, education, rural and urban development, and animal husbandry departments, totaling thousands of losses are significant, with 916 houses fully damaged and 27,366 partially damaged, along with 627 cow sheds and 951 labour sheds/huts reported the highest number of rain-related deaths at 26, followed by Mandi (23), Chamba (9), Kullu (10), Kinnaur (8), Lahaul & Spiti (5), Shimla (6), Bilaspur (7), Una (7), Hamirpur (13), Sirmaur (2), and Solan (3).Mandi topped this category with 21 fatalities, followed by Chamba (17), Shimla (15), Kangra (9), Kinnaur (8), Kullu (8), Solan (12), Hamirpur (3), Bilaspur (3), Sirmaur (7), Una (6), and Lahaul & Spiti (1).Authorities say restoration work is ongoing, but repeated landslides, road blockages, and continued heavy rainfall are slowing progress. IHCL inks agreements to acquire 51% stake in ANK Hotels and Pride Hospitality for Clarks Hotels & Resorts
Tata Group backed Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) said on Monday it has entered into share subscription and purchase agreements and shareholders' agreements to acquire around 51% equity stake not exceeding Rs 110 crore in ANK Hotels Pvt Ltd and a 51% equity stake for an amount not exceeding Rs 94 crore in Pride Hospitality Pvt Ltd. IHCL said the foregoing companies have a portfolio of 135 hotels which are operated under the Clarks Hotels & Resorts brand across India. IHCL acquires 51% stake in Clarks Hotels & Resorts for ₹214 crore
Taj Hotels' parent and the hospitality arm of the Tata group, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), has acquired a 51 per cent equity stake in two companies operating 135 hotels under the Clarks Hotels & Resorts brand for Rs 214 crore, it said in an exchange filing late on Monday. The two companies are ANK Hotels Private Limited, which has a portfolio of 111 midscale hotels, and Pride Hospitality Private Limited, which operates 24 hotels across India. IHCL will acquire a majority shareholding in ANK Hotels for Rs 110 crore and in Pride Hospitality for Rs 94 crore. The transactions are expected to be completed by November this year. 'The transactions aim to address India's heterogeneous market landscape and provide deeper geographical penetration across India in the midscale segment while continuing to pursue its asset-light growth strategy,' IHCL said in its BSE filing on Monday evening. The announcement was made after market hours. India's largest hospitality firm by market capitalisation, at Rs 1.06 trillion, saw its shares rise by 1.65 per cent to close at Rs 746.65 on the BSE. ANK Hotels operates and manages properties under The Clarks Hotels & Resorts umbrella, which includes the Clarks Inn, Clarks Inn Suites, and Clarks Inn Premier brands.
