UP govt gears up for green push with mega plantation drive, ministers to plant saplings in all 75 districts
Various ministers of the Yogi Adityanath government will lead the campaign by planting saplings across all 75 districts.
Senior administrative officers have been designated as district nodal officers, who will reach their respective districts on Tuesday to review preparations. Officers from the Forest Department are coordinating with various departments and ministries to ensure seamless execution.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will lead plantation drives in Ayodhya and Azamgarh, accompanied by Forest Minister (Independent Charge) Dr Arun Saxena and Minister of State for Forests KP Malik.
Governor Anandiben Patel will participate in the campaign from Barabanki, while State Minister Satish Sharma will represent the state government there. Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak will plant saplings in Meerut and Lucknow, respectively.
From Cabinet Ministers to Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and state ministers, all will lead the initiative across all 75 districts.
According to information shared by the government, cabinet minister Suresh Khanna will lead the plantation drive in Shahjahanpur, Surya Pratap Shahi in Ayodhya, and Swatantra Dev Singh in Gorakhpur, while other ministers like Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' will take the lead in Prayagraj, Anil Rajbhar in Azamgarh, Rakesh Sachan in Kanpur Dehat, AK Sharma in Jaunpur, Yogendra Upadhyay in Agra, Dr Sanjay Nishad in Ambedkar Nagar and Om Prakash Rajbhar in Ghazipur.
Senior officials have been appointed as nodal officers for the Plantation Drive-2025 across various districts.
Principal Secretary M. Devraj will oversee Prayagraj, while Jal Nigam (Rural) MD Dr Rajshekhar will be in Varanasi. The CEO of Invest UP, Vijay Kiran Anand, is assigned to Jaunpur, and Medical Health Secretary Dr Pinky Jovel to Mirzapur.
Ayodhya will be overseen by Principal Secretary (Irrigation and Water Resources) Anil Garg, Barabanki by Basic Education Secretary Sarika Mohan, and Lucknow by Principal Secretary (Medical Health) Parthasarathi Sen Sharma.
For the success of Plantation Drive-2025, Forest Department officials are also coordinating with all relevant departments and ministries.

Additionally, in partnership with Tata Technologies, 150 government-run Industrial Training Institutes have been upgraded with modern technologies to ensure industry-relevant training,' he said. Highlighting Uttar Pradesh's investment-driven growth, Mr. Adityanath said that in the past eight years, improved law and order and investor-friendly policies had led to the implementation of investment proposals worth several lakh crore rupees, creating lakhs of new jobs across sectors. During the event, Mr. Adityanath handed over the 'Youth Icon' award to 15 outstanding youths and distributed appointment letters to 11 candidates. He also flagged off five Skill Chariots to spread awareness about skill development across the State.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the Green Hydrogen Summit-2025 at SRM University-AP campus on July 18. The inaugural session of the two-day event will be attended by Member of NITI Aayog V.K. Saraswat, Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, State Minister for Energy Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh, K. Vijayanand, and Pro-Chancellor of SRM University-AP P. Satyanarayana. Punjab's anti-sacrilege bill sent to select committee for consultation; Congress, SAD take dig at AAP
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab assembly on Tuesday unanimously decided to refer the anti-sacrilege bill 'Punjab Prevention of Offences Against Holy Scriptures Bill, 2025' to a Select Committee of MLAs for consultation with all stakeholders before it is enacted. On the concluding day of the special session of the assembly, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said after a three-and-a-half-hour debate that the panel will gather public input on the Bill and will submit its report on the bill within six months. The bill was tabled in the House on Monday by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann who had earlier proposed a four-month timeline. The bill proposes stringent penalties for sacrilege-related offences, prescribing a minimum sentence of 10 years, extendable to life imprisonment, along with fines ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring accused the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab of playing with the sentiments of people by enacting a drama of passing a law against sacrilege and then referring it to a select committee. "This is yet another 'futile periodical exercise' to bide time," Warring said about the 'Sacrilege Bill' here today. "If the government was really sincere, it should have acted on the SIT report gathering dust in its corridors," he suggested, while remarking, "this is a clear attempt to divert the public attention and shield the culprits."
