"Saving bees is saving our future": PM Modi praises Pune youth's 'Bee Mitra' initiative
New Delhi [India], May 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday highlighted a youth-led initiative from Pune focused on protecting honeybees, stating that safeguarding bees contributes to preserving the environment, agriculture, and the well-being of future generations.
Addressing the 122nd episode of his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat', the Prime Minister highlighted the efforts of Amit, a youngster from Pune, who pioneered a safe and humane way to relocate beehives in urban areas.
PM Modi narrated how Amit responded thoughtfully when a beehive was removed from his housing society.
'I would like to tell you about another initiative. It reminds us that the protection of honeybees is not just a protection of the environment, but also that of our agriculture and future generations. Here's an example of the city of Pune. A youngster named Amit from Pune decided that bees should not be removed but rather saved when a beehive was removed from a housing society,' PM Modi said during his Mann Ki Baat address.
The Prime Minister said, 'He researched on bees & gradually formed a team called Bee Friends or 'Bee Mitra'. Now these Bee Friends transfer beehives from one place to another in a safe manner, so that people are not in danger and the honeybees also stay alive...'
Marking World Bee Day on May 20, PM Modi also drew attention to the broader significance of beekeeping for health, livelihood, and national self-reliance.
'Honey is not just sweetness; it is also an example of health, self-employment and self-reliance. During the last 11 years, a sweet revolution has taken place in beekeeping in India. Ten to eleven years ago honey production in India was around 70-75,000 metric tons in a year. Today it has increased to around 1.25 lakh metric tons, an increase of about 60 percent in honey production,' he said.
PM Modi credited the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission for this transformation, stating, 'We have become one of the leading countries in the world in honey production and export.'
'National Beekeeping and Honey Mission' has played a big role in creating this positive impact. Thousands of women and youth in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh have become honey entrepreneurs,' he noted.(ANI)

From appeasement to report card politics: BJP hails ‘new normal' under Modi govt
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday described the eleven years of the Modi government as transformational and the one that redefined and reshaped Indian politics. Addressing a press conference at the party HQs, BJP President J.P. Nadda said that in the past 11 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed the culture of Indian politics, and it should be etched in the history books in golden letters. He said the Modi government has brought defining change in the country's politics and marked a decisive shift from -- politics of appeasement to the politics of report cards. 'This has become the new normal,' Nadda said. '11 years ago, appeasement and division of society on caste and religion were the political culture. But after 2014, a responsible government took charge under PM Modi, which started the politics of the report card,' he added. 'A remarkable transformation has taken place in the past eleven years. In the past, politics was often driven by appeasement politics, but that has now shifted to politics of performance, accountability, and responsible governance. This has now become the new normal,' he said. Nadda credited the Prime Minister for ushering in bold reforms across sectors and also for launching path-breaking initiatives like revoking Article 370 and Triple Talaq. 'Our government took bold and historic decisions in the national interest. We abrogated Article 370 and abolished Triple Talaq. We enacted a new Waqf Act and passed the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). We also ensured 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies,' the BJP chief pointed out. He said that it is difficult to present a full account of 11 years of governance in a single press conference; however, he underscored that the gamut of visionary policies and bold reforms has laid the foundation of a developed and self-reliant India. He said that bold and transparent governance under PM Modi has laid the foundation for a futuristic administration, and this will pave the way for the realisation of the Viksit Bharat dream. The growing public sentiment of 'Modi hai tau mumkin hai' shows people's unflinching faith and confidence in PM Modi's leadership and reinforces the belief that even arduous tasks can be overcome under his stewardship, he opined. Nadda further underlined the government's unwavering commitment towards building Bharat of everyone's dreams and said that the mantra of 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas' remains its governing principle.

Modi survives through publicity, his govt failed to fulfil promises: Siddaramaiah
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has survived politically only through publicity. He claimed that Modi's government failed to fulfill the promises made to the people. On June 9, when asked by mediapersons in Mysuru to comment on the Modi government completing 11 years in power, Mr. Siddaramaiah said, 'I give zero marks to the government headed by Mr. Modi.' While asking who benefited from the demonetisation, Mr. Siddaramaiah recalled the Prime Minister's promise of 'Acche Din' and the creation of two crore jobs every year. 'He promised to solve the problems of farmers, but farmers had to protest for an entire year. The Modi government has completed 11 years in power without making any significant achievement. They have just completed 11 years, that's all.' Mr. Siddaramaiah regretted the excessive publicity given to Mr. Modi, and the latter's government was using the same to promote false claims. 'When our government announced the guarantee schemes, they said they cannot be implemented, and the government of Karnataka will go bankrupt. But they copied the same schemes,' he said alleging that the BJP has promised similar schemes in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi. Also, when Mr. Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he demanded a share of 50% to the States in devolution of taxes. 'But, what has he done after becoming the Prime Minister?' Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman promised ₹5,300 crores for Upper Bhadra project in Karnataka, but the funds were not released. Even though the 15th Finance Commission recommended grant of ₹11,495 crore to Karnataka, the money was not given, he claimed. Even though Karnataka has been at the receiving end of injustice, the State unit of the BJP is engaged in a misinformation campaign against State Government instead of questioning the injustice, he claimed.
