Adi Hütter allays Folarin Balogun injury concerns
The USMNT forward was injured in the final training session ahead of Saturday's victory over Olympique Lyonnais, which secured a podium place for Les Monégasques for the second season running. The Principality club confirmed that Balogun had sustained an ankle injury but without detailing the severity of it.

However, Hütter provided reassuring news. 'He couldn't play today (Saturday) but let's see if he is a topic next week,' said the Monaco manager in a post-match press conference attended by Get French Football News. The striker will be evaluated upon the return to first-team training on Wednesday. With Champions League football secured, Hütter has granted his squad three days off.
However, Hütter added that no risks would be taken with Balogun next weekend when Monaco face RC Lens, given that there is nothing to play for. 'It isn't too serious,' added Hütter.

Liverpool show GIANT wonderkid that he's destined for greatness
Liverpool wasted no time in showing their giant new wonderkid why he's destined for greatness. They've got a special one here. Liverpool completed the signing of Giovanni Leoni on Friday ahead of their 4-2 win over Bournemouth. The Italian joins for around £26m from Parma as the Reds tie down one of the hottest prospects in Europe. There aren't many 18-year-old centre-backs playing regularly in a top European league, after all. Leoni managed just that last season, however, as he forced his way into Parma's starting XI. LFC x adidas Shop the goalkeeper range today LFC x adidas Shop the new adidas range today! 🔴 He's an elite talent - one who will immediately jump into Liverpool's first-team squad and, if he holds his own, eventually pickup homegrown status. A fantastic deal all around, honestly. But not all wonderkids are the same. If you want to actually play a top young talent and develop him correctly, you need to be able to use him - and he's got to be able to excel. Leoni was at the Anfield clash on Friday to watch his new team play. And it should have removed any and all doubts that Liverpool is the place for him. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range Giovanni Leoni is destined for greatness Leoni is, on paper, perfect for Liverpool. If only because of his physical attributes. The teenager stands 6ft 5 tall and boasts the physicality that comes with it. It's why he's able to win 63 per cent of his aerial duels against far more senior players and why he's been described internally as 'an absolute joke'. And that's a trait Liverpool are after. They want that kind of physicality at the back - players capable of battling one vs one in duels, capable of bossing attackers in isolation. It's been a hallmark of Virgil van Dijk's play at Liverpool and Leoni does view him as an idol. He'll have been impressed against Bournemouth, then, as the Dutchman made a ridiculous 17 clearances, 13 of which came in the air. That's a record for Van Dijk with both numbers. And this is what Liverpool want Leoni to become. The Van Dijk successor, basically. Someone who can defend against counter-attacks on his own and fight for the ball in duels, removing outlets for teams and not allowing them to get footholds high up the pitch. Leoni is destined to deliver that at a high level - he can already do it at 18. Liverpool is the right place for him, then. The Italian fits the bill for what the Reds want in a defender and that means he should fulfil his potential at Anfield, or at least have the best possible chance of doing so. And what incredible potential it is.

Real Madrid youngster growing in stature under Xabi Alonso
Arda Guler's arrival at Real Madrid in 2023 was celebrated with much fanfare, more so considering that the club had beaten arch-rivals Barcelona to his signing. However, injuries, inconsistent form, and a lack of confidence from former manager Carlo Ancelotti meant that the Turkish wonderkid was unable to showcase his potential and quality to the fullest. Arda Guler takes a leap with Xabi Alonso Now, as MARCA reports, Guler is living one of his best moments at Real Madrid following the arrival of Xabi Alonso. During the last two seasons, Guler had to make do with scraps in terms of opportunities, as he was only handed starts in the final stages of the season or in less decisive matches. So, the 2025/26 season marks the start of a new story for him with Alonso giving him the role and importance he sought in the previous regime – starting all but one game at the FIFA Club World Cup, and the youngster, thus far, has delivered. Arda Guler set for a crucial role under Alonso. (Photo by) The transition into a new role in midfield has also proven to be critical as in his current position, Guler has been able to fully display his range of skills in support of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and the rest. In the most recent friendly against Tirol, these improvements were there for everyone to see. His assist to Mbappe showcased his innate ability to see things earlier than others. He also assumed responsibility for set-pieces, and in front of goal, the crossbar denied him twice. Through the summer, Guler has also undergone significant physical transformation. Thanks to weeks of hard work he has gained the physical presence needed to endure the intensity of elite football. All of this has contributed to his growth in stature under Xabi Alonso and should lay the foundation for him to take a further leap and establish himself as an integral member of this Real Madrid side.

Crystal Palace make approach for Club Brugge's Christos Tzolis
Crystal Palace have made an approach to Club Brugge for attacker Christos Tzolis, as they pursue options in case Eberechi Eze exits Selhurst Park this summer. Eze is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur and The Athletic revealed that Palace have approached Leicester City to enquire about playmaker Bilal El Khannouss. Advertisement The Morocco international, 21, is high among their option if Eze leaves — with Tzolis emerging as another serious candidate. Palace have already seen a bid rejected by Brugge but plan to return with an improved bid and also are speaking to the Greece attacker's representatives. Tzolis joined the Belgian club from Fortuna Dusseldorf last summer, contributing 21 goals and 14 assists across 56 appearances in his first season. The 23-year-old has three goals and two assists in seven games so far this campaign and has recently signed a new contract, so Brugge do not intend to sell. Tzolis started his career at PAOK Thessaloniki before moving to Norwich City in 2021 and gaining Premier League experience. He was loaned to FC Twente in July 2022 after Norwich were relegated to the Championship but returned the following January to help his parent side. Fortuna took Tzolis on loan in August 2023 and then activated a buy option 12 months later. Eze is expected to depart Palace and has told them of his wish to join Spurs, although an agreement is yet to be reached. (BRUNO FAHY/BELGA/AFP via Getty Images) Spot the pattern.
