Cody Rhodes is set to compete in the 2025 WWE King of the Ring Tournament.
WWE
announced the start of this year's King and Queen of the Ring tournament at the 2025 Money in the Bank Premium Live Event.
The single elimination style competition kicked off on the following edition of Monday Night RAW, with the final field revealed for both the men's and women's divisions.
Interestingly, there was one name that caught the attention of fans that was not expected to participate. He is none other than the poster boy of WWE, Cody Rhodes.
Cody Rhodes will be a participant in the WWE
King of the Ring
tournament this year
On the June 9th edition of Monday Night RAW, Cody Rhodes was revealed to be one of the competitors for the King of the Ring tournament.
The American Nightmare will be a part of the first round Fatal 4-Way match, pitting him against Andrade El Idolo, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Damian Priest. This will be the first time Rhodes competes in the King of the Ring tournament in his WWE career.
The King of the Ring tournament has often been seen as the beacon of opportunity for rising stars to ascend to the next level. For years, the fans have witnessed careers being altered for superstars after winning the prestigious accolade, such as Bret Hart, Brock Lesnar, and most famously, Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Moreover, it did the same for Gunther, who won the tournament last year and won the World Championship at the 2024 WWE SummerSlam event.
In the case of Cody Rhodes, he has already become the face of the company three years after making his return to WWE. While he can surely reach the finals of the tournament set to take place at the WWE Night of Champions event, a better booking can see him lose to a young and rising star who would get significant push at his expense.
Furthermore, they would also receive a World Championship match at SummerSlam.
As for Cody Rhodes, early speculation hinted at his rematch against John Cena for the Undisputed WWE title at SummerSlam this year. So even if another WWE superstar wins King of the Ring, Rhodes can still pursue a World title shot while giving back to the business at the same time.

'Dumb and Dumber' — Indiana Pacers fans trolling ESPN analysts Stephen A Smith and Kendrick Perkins during NBA Finals Game 4 go viral

Images via Getty Images and X Sometimes, the loudest message in a Finals game doesn't come from a superstar or a coach—it comes from the stands. During Game 4 of the 2025 NBA Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, while most fans rocked gold Pacers shirts, two individuals turned heads with bold fashion choices straight out of a comedy classic. Dressed in Dumb and Dumber-style tuxedos—one bright orange, one electric blue—they topped it off with oversized face cutouts of ESPN's Stephen A. Smith and Kendrick Perkins. It was a hilarious, pointed response to recent media criticism of Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton—and fans online immediately took notice. Tyrese Haliburton fires back at critics, Stephen A. Smith takes it personally in fiery rant The media heat on Tyrese Haliburton started after Game 2, when he was criticized for his passiveness in a 107–123 Pacers loss. On 'First Take', ESPN's Stephen A. Smith didn't hold back. 'Win the damn chip, bro… That ain't on me. That's on you,' he said, implying Haliburton wasn't delivering when it mattered. Smith continued, 'Just in case he was talking about me—my brother, I'm not going away… this train don't stop.' Then came Game 3. Haliburton bounced back with 22 points, 11 assists, and 9 rebounds in a 116–107 Pacers win. After the game, he was asked about the media noise. He didn't name names but made his feelings clear: 'Most of the time, the talking heads on the major platforms, I couldn't care less honestly. Like, what do they really know about basketball?' Kendrick Perkins , speaking on NBA Today, gave Haliburton credit for stepping up. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo 'He finally arrived to the NBA Finals—to us box score watchers,' Perkins said. It was comedy, commentary, and petty brilliance all rolled into one. Hilarious fan reactions to ' Dumb and Dumber ' trolling of Stephen A. Smith and Kendrick Perkins at Game 4 Fans took to X with no shortage of reactions to the trolling masterclass. One fan said: 'Absolutely incredible troll job by Pacers fans dressed as Stephen A. This user highlighted the boldness of the fans' courtside position, emphasizing how visible and intentional the troll job was. Another user joked: 'Are these two guys front row at the Pacers game calling Stephen A Smith and Kendrick Perkins Dumb and Dumber?' This tweet added playful speculation, bluntly asking if the fans were deliberately labeling the ESPN duo as the classic comedy characters. One more said: 'Best thing I've seen tonight…. Dumb and Dumber at the Pacer game tonight!' This comment called the bit the highlight of the evening—more memorable than even the on-court action for some viewers. And finally, another user said: 'Pretty sure these fans are in Dumb and Dumber costumes…with face cutouts of Stephen A Smith and Kendrick Perkins.' This tweet added to the confirmation and appreciation of the stunt, acknowledging the detail in the fans' outfits and execution. WWE SmackDown results: Alexa Bliss steals victory from Charlotte Flair to reach Queen of the Ring semi-final

Alexa Bliss is moving on to the Queen of the Ring semi-final, and she did it in dramatic fashion. On the June 13 episode of WWE SmackDown at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Bliss pinned Candice LeRae to grab the win, right in front of Charlotte Flair, who had the match under control just seconds before. The match originally featured Charlotte Flair, Candice LeRae, Alexa Bliss, and Chelsea Green, but before the bell, Green was replaced by Alba Fyre. All four women got their moments, and the match quickly turned into a chaotic showcase of counters, near falls, and broken pins. Flair looked dominant at several points. She landed her signature chops, a Natural Selection, and even locked in the Figure Eight on Bliss. But Candice LeRae broke it up with a perfectly-timed Quebrada. Then Alba Fyre nearly stole the match with a KLR Bomb before Bliss landed a DDT on her to stay alive. Alexa Bliss outsmarts Flair as tensions boil over .@AlexaBliss_WWE is heading to the Queen of the Ring Semifinals! 🔥#SmackDown The real story, though, was between Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. For weeks now, the two have been caught in a cold rivalry. It began when Bliss proposed teaming up, only for Flair to turn her down. Since then, things have only heated up. Bliss went on to win her Money in the Bank qualifier, while Charlotte failed to qualify in a different match where Giulia punched her ticket instead. During this fatal four-way, Flair looked set to finally get a win. She had Alba Fyre locked in a Figure Eight, who looked just seconds away from making her tap. But Bliss saw her chance and made her move. With Charlotte busy holding the submission, Bliss hit the Sister Abigail DDT on Candice and stole the pin before Flair could react. Bliss now moves into the semi-final of the Queen of the Ring tournament, but the bigger story may be what happens next between her and Charlotte. Flair looked stunned after the finish, and the way Bliss smirked at her on the way out said it all. This rivalry has taken a very personal turn, and fans are already asking, Where is it headed? Whatever comes next, Alexa Bliss is now just one step away from a shot at the crown. And if she meets Charlotte soon, the stakes will be much higher.
