4 held for faking govt 2BHK house allotment letters in Hyderabad, duped 30 people of Rs 42L using RDO's forged signature; fake seals, cash recovered
HYDERABAD: Task force sleuths on Wednesday arrested four individuals for duping people by creating fake allotment letters of govt-sponsored 2BHK houses by impersonating the signature of Revenue Divisional Officer.
The arrested accused were Mohammed Ahmed, Mohammed Amjad alias Munavar, Kothakota Raj Kumar Reddy alias Raju, and Mir Kousar Ali alias Siraj.
The police said the accused had defrauded around 30 people of Rs 42 lakh over two years.
The accused procured money ranging from 50,000 to 2.2 lakh from victims for a house in Bandlaguda.
"Ahmed used to work as a labourer on a two-bedroom construction site in Bandlaguda. During this time, he hatched a plan to make money by making false promises to help people get a house allotment," said deputy commissioner of police (Task Force) YVS Sudheendra, adding that Ahmed then roped in other accused.
The accused obtained one genuine allotment letter with RDO's signature and used an app to generate fake ones. Cops recovered ₹5.5 lakh from them.

Two arrested with cannabis worth over Rs 70,000
Indore: The Crime Branch of Indore police on Wednesday arrested two men with 7.2 kg of cannabis worth around Rs 70,000. Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said that the accused identified as Rajdeep Mansare and Sunil Solanki, both residents of Barwani, were caught near Lohkande bridge when they attempted to flee upon spotting a police vehicle. A chase ensued, and the duo was apprehended. During questioning, the suspects admitted to purchasing cannabis at low rates and selling it at higher prices to addicts in Indore. A case was registered against them under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at the Crime Branch police station. Police said that Mansare was a habitual offender, who was arrested in a 2022 murder case registered at Palasia police station, and was currently out on bail. Five armed men rob 2 friends at gunpoint in Para; video viral
Lucknow: Five men allegedly robbed two friends at gunpoint in Para on Tuesday afternoon, police said. A video of the incident also went viral on social media. The victim, Govind Sharma (22) of Churu in Rajasthan, lives in a rented house in Ganeshganj with his elder brother. He was going to Buddheshwar Temple on a scooter with his friend Manish at around 3pm on Tuesday. As they reached near Jalalpur Gate, the miscreants stopped them and started beating them while pointing a pistol. They looted their mobile phones, Rs 2,000 cash and Govind's bag. When they shouted for help, the miscreants fled the scene while brandishing their weapons. Govind alleged that he was their main target as the miscreants chased him when he ran towards the railway track to save himself. "There were many people present around at the time of the incident. But they never intervened and rather made videos," Govind alleged. Locals said since the miscreants were armed, nobody dared to intervene. After the incident, Govind went to the Para police station and gave a written complaint. Police station in-charge Para Suresh Singh said a case was registered and search was on for the accused. Liquor worth over Rs one crore stored in modified tanker seized
Indore: In a major crackdown on interstate liquor smuggling, Agar-Malwa police seized 1,004 cartons of branded foreign liquor worth over Rs 1.44 crore that was being transported in a modified tanker. The tanker had seven hidden compartments, six of which were filled with cartons of expensive liquor, while the compartment with an opening was deliberately left empty to avoid arousing suspicion. SDOP Motilal Kushwaha said that they received information on Tuesday that a tanker heading towards Rajkot was carrying a large consignment of illicit liquor. Multiple checkpoints were set up along Susner Road and alternate routes to prevent the vehicle from escaping. Around 10:30 pm, a tanker matching the informer's description was spotted and intercepted. The driver, identified as Raghuveer Singh (30), a resident of Barmer, Rajasthan, was taken into custody. Upon cutting open the tanker, officers found elaborately concealed compartments. The seized liquor comprised premium brands and was being smuggled from Chandigarh through Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to Gujarat. SDOP Kushwaha said that drivers were hired for Rs 40,000 for a round trip. "The vehicles are handed over from a roadside eatery, and near the target location, they are taken over at a predetermined spot," he said. "Continuous updates are exchanged during the journey. Fastag is not used, and drivers are not allowed to use mobile phones. Those hired are usually 3–4 drivers in rotation, selected on basis of poor economic conditions," he said. Police said 1,004 cartons (9,036 bulk litres) of branded foreign liquor — 590 cartons of RS brand, 369 cartons of RC brand, along with 45 cartons of open bottles of both brands were seized. According to officials, once in Gujarat, the driver was to receive instructions for delivery via a WhatsApp call. The tanker driver was taken into custody for interrogation, and police began a detailed investigation after unloading all the liquor cartons from the vehicle. Police registered an FIR under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act at Kotwali police station and launched an investigation to trace other members of the interstate smuggling racket. The seized liquor is valued at Rs 1.44 crore, the tanker at Rs 60 lakh, and the mobile phone at Rs 10,000, bringing the total seizure value to Rs 2,04,71,100.
