TTD Srivani Darshan at 5 pm from tomorrow
The decision was made during a review meeting at Annamayya Bhavan on Wednesday. Tirumala Temple Deputy Executive Officer Lokanadham said the change aims to reduce the burden on devotees, who currently spend nearly three days for darshan.
Srivani darshan tickets, costing Rs 10,000 as a donation and Rs 500 for break darshan, are issued offline at Tirumala. Around 800 tickets are sold daily from 7 am and are typically exhausted by 11 am. Devotees often arrive a day earlier and must wait overnight for darshan. The new 5 PM slot allows same-day darshan, reducing wait times significantly.
From August 1, offline ticket holders will be allowed darshan between 5 PM and 5:45 PM. Initially, this change applies only to offline tickets. TTD also offers 500 tickets online and 200 daily at Tirupati airport. Online ticket holders will switch to the 5 PM slot from November 1.

MPEDB starts booking for 12 ecotourism sites and plans new destinations in MP
Indore: The Madhya Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board (MPEDB) has initiated bookings for 12 eco-tourism sites across the state and is considering over a dozen newly identified locations for development, officials said. Operating as an autonomous body under the state forest department, MPEDB has submitted proposals to develop more than twelve new sites into eco-tourism destinations. The state currently has 134 notified recreation areas eligible for tourism development, with 11 sites located in the Indore region at Mhow, Manpur, Indore and Choral, and four sites in Dhar at Mandav, Dhamnod and Bhag. The first site in the Indore region, Umri Kheda, features a mud house, two luxurious tents and detachable tents to accommodate guests. "We have started bookings for 12 eco-tourism sites. Besides we have sent proposals for over a dozen sites," said Sunil Kumar Pandre, Additional General Manager, MPEDB. Additionally, the board has recently developed Magarpath and Bodakho as new eco-tourism sites in Bhopal and Sehore respectively. The development plan for Magarpath includes tent accommodation, a cafeteria with a dining area, sitting areas and various themed trails for visitors, with an estimated cost of Rs 47 lakh. The Bodakho site will offer activities such as bird watching, trekking, exploration of rock paintings and showcasing tribal culture. CAG flays Goa Tourism for profligacy, poor execution
Panaji: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has criticised Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) for serious lapses, wasteful expenditure, and poor execution in projects sanctioned under the Centre's flagship Swadesh Darshan Scheme. It found violations of guidelines, procurement of equipment before sites were ready, and failure to maintain assets, undermining the scheme's goal of boosting tourist infrastructure. The Swadesh Darshan Scheme, launched in 2015 by the Union tourism ministry, allocated Rs 199.3 crore to Goa for developing two coastal circuits. GTDC received just under Rs 100 crore for nine projects in circuit-I — covering Sinquerim-Baga, Anjuna-Vagator, Morjim-Keri, Aguada Fort, and Aguada jail — and Rs 99.3 crore for 18 projects in circuit-II. The CAG's audit of coastal circuit-I projects revealed that detailed project reports often ignored scheme guidelines and suffered from defective planning. According to the CAG report, which was tabled in the House, GTDC took up projects on private land without obtaining permission. In some cases, poor coordination with local panchayats forced changes mid-way, such as the relocation of the Aguada helipad. The cost of each toilet block worked out to Rs 2.6 crore. GTDC spent Rs 3.9 crore on sound and light show equipment meant for Aguada jail, but since the renovations were incomplete, it shifted the equipment to Baga beach in 2018 and handed it to a private agency without a formal agreement. When the Aguada jail works were eventually taken up, GTDC once again bought similar equipment, spending Rs 3.3 crore more. The audit flagged ineffective operation and maintenance, with assets lying abandoned, deteriorating, or missing. In multiple instances, buses and other assets were procured before the sites were ready, leading to idle investments or diversion. Rs 20cr Ernakulam KSRTC terminal work to begin soon: Minister
Kochi: Transport minister K B Ganesh Kumar said construction work of the new KSRTC terminal in the city, utilizing Rs 15 crore state govt fund and Rs 5 crore financial assistance by Kochi Metro , would begin soon. He was speaking after inaugurating regional office building of state water transport department (SWTD) at Ernakulam Boat Jetty on Saturday. The minister said official procedures prior to starting the work on KSRTC terminal building have been completed and Kochi Metro has agreed to provide financial assistance. He also mentioned that transport sector will witness significant changes in the coming days and digitization will be implemented across all areas of KSRTC division. SWTD's new office building was designed to provide seamless services to public and improved facilities for department employees. The total cost was Rs 16 crore. The new building will undoubtedly enhance speed and efficiency of administrative and coordination activities in state water transport sector.
