IGP Kashmir chairs security review meeting in Srinagar
The annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) will begin from July 3.
At the onset of the meeting, the participating officers briefed the chair on the security arrangements planned for the smooth and peaceful conduct of Amarnath Yatra, Muharram, and other significant events, a police spokesman said.
The officers shared valuable insights from past experiences, emphasizing the need for robust communication channels, seamless coordination among forces, and advanced real-time monitoring systems. Discussions focused on strengthening the existing security infrastructure, enhancing surveillance tactics, and optimizing personnel deployment at key locations.
IGP Kashmir conducted a detailed review of the security framework and directed the officers to ensure the installation of CCTV cameras at all strategic locations. He emphasized the need for adequate manpower deployment at each camp and in sensitive areas to maintain a secure environment.
IGP Birdi also stressed the importance of intelligence-driven operations, timely threat assessments, and proactive measures to mitigate potential risks, ensuring the safety of all participants.
The meeting concluded with a strong commitment from all the officers to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the forthcoming events.

The group's own history is of controversy, as its ties to a neo-Nazi ideology have polarised people, with some calling them Ukrainian nationalists, while others calling them an extremist group who wish to construct a Ukraine based on Nazi ideologies. According to Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Ukraine can be 'de Nazified', only after the end of the war, be it via military or diplomacy. At a high-level meeting with Russian foreign ministry officials in mid-June 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin outlined Moscow's preconditions for resolving the conflict. UP turns fortress as Independence Day, Janmashtami approach
Lucknow, Aug 14 (UNI) With Independence Day and Janmashtami falling on consecutive days, Uttar Pradesh has implemented an extensive security plan, turning religious hubs and sensitive zones into fortified areas. Armed patrols are on rounds under the direct supervision of senior officers, with every key location under close watch to ensure the twin celebrations proceed without disruption. Officials said meetings have been held with temple committees, procession organisers, and fair managers. Police deployment, flag marches, and foot patrols have been intensified across the state. A day earlier, the state government had directed heightened vigilance during both Independence Day and Janmashtami festivities. Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna instructed district and commissionerate police chiefs to prepare a comprehensive list of major programmes, including flag marches, Tiranga rallies, and cultural events, and plan security and traffic arrangements accordingly. Security has been reinforced at railway and metro stations, bus terminals, airports, cinema halls, shopping malls, hotels, guest houses, religious sites, and other crowded locations. Border checks, CCTV monitoring, and strict briefings for checkpoint personnel have been prioritised. Authorities have ordered strict surveillance of microlight aircraft, drones, paragliders, and other unmanned aerial vehicles, alongside a complete ban on unauthorised flights. Local intelligence units and social media monitoring cells have been activated to track the activities of banned or extremist groups, with instructions for immediate preventive action when required. District police forces have been tasked with tenant verification, curbing trafficking of illegal arms and explosives, and coordinating with civil magistrates, municipal bodies, and utility departments for smooth Janmashtami festivities. Amid concerns over US tariffs, TN Industries Min holds meeting with Exporters
Chennai, Aug 14 (UNI) Amid growing concerns over US tariffs and in the midst of significant shifts in global trade flows, the Government of Tamil Nadu, accounts for nearly 31% of its exports to the United States as against India's overall exports of around 20%, held a meeting the exporters from key sectors like textiles, automobiles, gems and jewellery, heavy engineering, electronics, among others. The meeting held at Guidance Tamil Nadu and chaired by Industries Minister Dr TRB Raaja, was aimed at reinforcing its commitment to the Industry to ensure Tamil Nadu, as India's export engine, remains strong and future-ready. In the meeting, the State Government also assured them that it would strive hard to ensure the interests of the primary and the secondary sectors were protected and safeguarded from any and all external impacts. In a statement on X, Dr Rajaa said under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister M K Stalin, the government has built a track record of regularly interacting with industry to enable ease of doing business and work with them to tackle any global headwinds. "Today's meeting at @Guidance_TN with exporters from key sectors like textiles, automobiles, gems & jewellery, heavy engineering, electronics, and more, was a reaffirmation of that approach", he said. The Minister said "in the midst of significant shifts in global trade flows, it is imperative for us to listen directly to our exporters, understand the hurdles in their paths and calibrate our policy response to safeguard their competitiveness". Dr Rajaa said Tamil Nadu accounts for nearly 31% of its exports to the United States while India's overall exports to the US stands at around 20% only. "While we look to the Union Government to chart national trade policy that cushions our exporters from severe shocks – and we stand shoulder to shoulder with them in that endeavour – our responsibility as one of India's largest exporter state is to act quickly, decisively, and in close coordination with industry, he added. "We are also taking this as an opportunity to identify structural fixes that will serve our exporters for the long term. We are determined to ensure Tamil Nadu, as India's export engine, remains strong and future-ready. "We have more such consultations lined up in the coming days and we will of course seek the help of our Honourable CM", the Minister said. "With the resilience of our people and the State's unwavering commitment, Tamil Nadu will continue to move to its next phase of export growth", he said, boosting the confidence of the exporters.
