Almonty Industries – Now it is getting critical!

The escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, with mutual missile attacks, is causing death and destruction. However, with the Islamic Republic threatening to block the Strait of Hormuz, an economic disaster could be imminent. The reason is that a large part of global supply chains run through the strait between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Both energy supplies and the flow of goods would be severely affected, with catastrophic consequences in the form of skyrocketing inflation and disrupted supply chains. Western countries are urgently searching for alternative production sites, especially for critical raw materials, in order to avoid such horror scenarios in the future. In the case of the critical metal tungsten, Almonty Industries is on the verge of a breakthrough in supplying the Western world with this strategic raw material. High-quality deposit with strategic depth
Almonty Industries (TSX:AII) is on the verge of a decisive milestone with the Sangdong mine in South Korea. After around ten years of development, commissioning is planned for summer 2025. The mine is one of the world's largest and highest-grade tungsten deposits, with ore grades approximately three times higher than the market average. With a projected life span of over 90 years, Sangdong represents a long-term asset.
In addition, the Canadians are striving for vertical integration. Parallel to the first production phase, they plan to build their own tungsten oxide production plant and smelting facility. This would make Almonty the only fully integrated tungsten producer in a transparent legal system outside China. In addition, the Sangdong property has an approved molybdenum deposit that has already been secured by a purchase agreement with the SeAH Group. Almonty's role in security of supply
China's increasing export controls on strategic metals, including tungsten, gallium, and germanium, have put pressure on the West's supply of raw materials. The US, Europe, and Japan depend on these metals, especially for the defense industry, semiconductor production, and high-tech applications. China's dominance in the global value chain makes diversification of supply sources imperative.
In this complex situation, Almonty Industries is positioning itself as a key source of supply outside China. With a projected coverage of up to 40% of global tungsten production outside the Middle Kingdom, the Company can significantly contribute to supply security. The US government has taken note of this with approval. The Congressional Committee on Strategic Competition with China has emphasized Almonty's importance and signaled potential cooperation in the context of national defense reserves. CEO Lewis Black, therefore, describes the Sangdong project not only as a commercial mining venture but as a strategic infrastructure asset aimed at strengthening the resilience and security of Western supply chains. Well-financed and well connected
Almonty focused early on economic stability and predictable earnings. Project financing from KfW IPEX-Bank on favorable terms demonstrates confidence in the management and the project. Purchase agreements with minimum prices, including with the US company Tungsten Parts Wyoming and Israeli partner Metal Tech, secure stable cash flows for Almonty. In addition, more than half of future production from South Korea is not tied to long-term contracts, giving the Company flexibility in global sales. In Europe, there is a supply agreement with the Austrian Plansee Group, which is also one of the largest shareholders.
Almonty is also strategically expanding its US network: the relocation of the Company's headquarters to the United States was approved by 99.6% of shareholders. Alan Estevez and General Gustave F. Perna, two prominent US military and security representatives, recently joined the Board of Directors. Membership in the Critical Minerals Forum also gives Almonty access to DARPA's state-of-the-art analysis tools. Source: Refinitiv, June 16, 2025 Analysts euphoric
A listing on the NASDAQ is planned and should significantly increase visibility among institutional investors and liquidity in the stock. Analysts have adjusted their forecasts: GBC Research raised its price target to CAD 5.50 and expects revenue to increase to CAD 314.9 million by 2027.
Sphene Capital also sees potential and even forecasts CAD 482.3 million in revenue with an EBIT of CAD 197.5 million from 2027. The valuation appears favorable compared to the peer group: The expected price-to-earnings ratio is 5, while comparable US companies such as MP Materials are valued significantly higher. Almonty on the verge of a breakthrough
The pressure to secure supplies from non-Chinese suppliers is high, and demand for tungsten exceeds supply. According to industry experts, European and US stocks are almost depleted. With the commissioning of the Sangdong mine, political backing from the US, exclusive supply contracts, and an ambitious expansion strategy, Almonty Industries is perfectly positioned to meet the requirements of the geopolitical situation.
The next step is to start production in the second half of 2025 at the latest, an event with far-reaching consequences for the global raw materials market and a milestone for investors who have already invested.
In an interview interview on CNBC, Almonty CEO Lewis Black talks about the reopening of the Sangdong mine in South Korea and also discusses the outlook for tungsten in light of global demand for critical metals. Conflict of interest

‘It's up to them': Donald Trump says Canada will get a ‘much better deal' if it becomes the 51st American state

KANANASKIS, ALTA. — The hustle is on. U.S. President Donald Trump says Canada will soon pay a lot of money in tariffs if it cannot reach a speedy trade deal, and faces a $71 billion entry fee to take part in the 'Golden Dome' missile defence project he claimed Prime Minister Mark Carney wants to join — or it could choose the no-cost option of becoming his country's 51st state. Trump touted American statehood for Canada after he left the G7 summit Monday night, and the leaders had tasked their negotiating teams with a mandate to strike a deal quickly on punitive tariffs he's slapped on Canadian products. Trump has a long list of what he calls unfair Canadian trading practices, ranging from dairy quotas, banking rules and digital services taxes that hit U.S.-based big tech companies to sales taxes and even bilingual labelling laws. Sources who spoke to the Star on the condition that they not be named, because they were not authorized to speak publicly, say he pressed some of those concerns again with Carney when they met behind closed doors Monday. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW Trump described their one-on-one meeting as 'good,' but he repeated his assertion Monday that Carney's team is looking for something more 'complex' than he is, without elaborating. 'Well, they get too complex with the deals and they never get done, and we need speed,' Trump said. The Canadians say they will try to stick a landing on a deal with Trump in the next 30 days. At his closing news conference of the summit Tuesday, Carney said the American president did not raise his desire for Canada to join the U.S. during their 70-minute meeting the day before, and that Canada could still retaliate against Trump's most recent tariffs. But Carney said the idea of a 30-day push for a deal is to spur both sides towards an agreement, with the Canadian side arguing for the Americans to lift all of Trump's tariffs and adhere to the Canada-U.S.-Mexico free trade deal the president signed in 2018. 'Quite often … in negotiations, having a form of deadline is helpful to concentrate the mind, and that could be the case here,' Carney said. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW Asked about Trump's comment that Carney has a 'complex' vision for trade, while the U.S. president prefers the simpler logic of tariffs, he said, 'Complexity is in the eye of the beholder.' The prime minister added that both sides have 'mutual interests' in military and border security — both frequent Trump concerns — alongside economic prosperity, and that talks on these issues will 'take all the time that's necessary.' Since Trump returned to the White House in January, he's slapped so-called border tariffs, 50 per cent steel and aluminum tariffs, and 25 per cent auto tariffs on Canada, and levied a baseline 10 per cent tariff on U.S. trading partners globally while he negotiates 'deals' to reduce additional 'reciprocal' surcharges in exchange for concessions the U.S. wants. 'You know, we're dealing with, really if you think about it, probably 175 countries, and most of them are just going to be sent a letter saying it would be an honour to trade with you and here's what you have to pay to do it,' Trump said during his return flight to Washington. Trump said his tariff policy — the objective of which is to repatriate manufacturing to the U.S. and act as a revenue-generator to deal with the U.S debt — is a success, and claimed it has already generated $88 billion in revenue. At the G7, Trump signed a new deal with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer that nevertheless retains a 10 per cent tariff on most British goods. He said there is a 'chance' of a deal with Japan, but 'they're 'tough,' while he said the European Union leaders were not 'offering a fair deal yet.' ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW Trump also vowed new tariffs on the pharmaceutical sector are coming soon. Trump left the summit in Kananaskis late Monday, telling reporters aboard Air Force One that Canada would have a 'much better deal' if it became part of the U.S. — 'but you know it's up to them.' 'They're going to have to pay a lot of tariffs and things, they're going to have to pay a lot of money for the dome, for the iron (sic) dome,' he said. 'They want to be a part of it. We may make a separate deal on that by the way,' suggesting tariffs and a deal on the Golden Dome would be two different agreements. 'They want to be in: $71 billion,' Trump said, using a number higher than the $61 billion he has previously pegged as the price tag of Canada's participation in ballistic missile shield. Carney said 'live discussions' continue about Canada joining the Golden Dome, pointing to the barrage of missile strikes between Israel and Iran as evidence of why such defence systems can be necessary. 'Canada, our geography is less and less of a shield,' Carney said, noting that threats could come from Russia, 'other hostile states' and terrorist groups. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW 'There are many reasons why partnering in this case … with the Americans would make sense.' Trump said he left the G7 summit early so he could be 'more well versed' and not have to 'use telephones' to get briefed in Washington. The White House said he left to deal with the escalating Iran-Israel crisis. While Trump departed before a scheduled meeting Tuesday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his delegation, G7 sources said he stayed until after a dinner with the G7 leaders on Monday evening precisely to discuss Iran and Ukraine and matters of global security. Putin is set to take questions from international journalists

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to take questions Wednesday from international journalists on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Putin scheduled a roundtable session with senior news leaders of international news agencies, including The Associated Press. Among other issues, he's expected to spell out Moscow's position on the conflict between Israel and Iran that he offered to help mediate in a weekend call with U.S. President Donald Trump. Russia has maintained a delicate balancing act in the Middle East for decades, trying to navigate its warm relations with Israel even as it has developed strong economic and military ties with Iran, a policy that potentially opens opportunities for Moscow to play power broker to help end the confrontation. Putin's comments will also be watched closely for clues to his strategy in the three-year conflict in Ukraine, where Russia has intensified its aerial campaign and stepped up ground attacks along the more than 1,000-kilometer (over 600-mile) front line. He has effectively rejected Trump's offer of an immediate 30-day ceasefire, making it conditional on a halt on Ukraine's mobilization effort and a freeze on Western arms supplies. The Russian leader has used the annual forum to highlight Russia's economic achievements and seek foreign investment. Western executives, who attended the event in the past, have avoided it after Putin sent troops into Ukraine in February 2022, leaving it to business leaders from Asia, Africa and Latin America. On the sidelines of the forum, Putin is set to have meetings with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who now heads the New Development Bank created by the BRICS alliance of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. He's also expected to confer with top officials from China, South Africa and Bahrain and the head of the OPEC group of oil-producing countries. On Friday, he is set to attend a panel discussion at the forum, a venue he has used to make policy statements.
