Thailand-Cambodia conflict: Avoid these 7 provinces in Thailand as per travel advisory
As of July 25, seven provinces in eastern Thailand have been flagged as 'not recommended for travel' by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The advisory follows ongoing military clashes near the border that have resulted in casualties and widespread displacement.
Affected provinces
Indian travelers are advised to avoid the following provinces:
Ubon Ratchathani
Surin
Sisaket
Buriram
Sa Kaeo
Chanthaburi
Trat
Specific tourist attractions in these areas, such as Phu Chong–Na Yoi National Park in Ubon Ratchathani and Khao Phra Wihan National Park in Sisaket, have also been listed as off-limits.

In Surin, historic temple ruins like Prasat Ta Muen Thom, Prasat Ban Pluang, and forest parks close to the border are to be avoided. Similarly, sensitive border zones in Sa Kaeo—such as Rong Kluea Market and Ban Khlong Luek Checkpoint—have been marked as unsafe.
The Embassy of India shared the advisory on its official handle on X (formerly Twitter), urging travelers to stay updated via Thai government sources, including the TAT Newsroom.

Ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis
The situation turned serious as clashes between Thai and Cambodian forces led to 14 Thai deaths and 46 injuries, according to Thailand's Ministry of Public Health. Cambodia has not released details of its casualties.
The fallout has been severe: over 100,000 Thai civilians have been relocated to temporary shelters, while 4,000 Cambodians from border villages in Oddar Meanchey province have also been displaced.

Pune: Clogged toilets delayed Air India's Delhi-Pune flight by almost five hours on Tuesday afternoon, compelling over 150 passengers to spend almost two hours sitting in the aircraft before deboarding and getting into another plane after going through the formalities, including security check, all over again. The flight (AI-2982) was scheduled to take off from Delhi at 1.05pm and land in Pune at 3.20pm. The substitute plane finally flew at 5.40pm and landed in Pune around 8pm. It required additional time for rectification. Our ground colleagues in Delhi airport extended support to the passengers to minimise the inconvenience caused because of this unforeseen delay. "The airline's staffers said another aircraft would be arranged for us and leave for Pune at 4.40pm. We had to go through the processes, including the security check, all over again. When all passengers came near the boarding gate, the airline's ground staffers announced the start of boarding. After we queued up, we were told that there would be some delay again," Gupta said. The airline's employees told passengers that since the flight had come from Doha, the catering items had to be brought out of the aircraft and fresh items had to be loaded. "We requested the cabin crew that since refreshments had been served because of the delay, they should skip the catering. But the request was turned down," Gupta said.

Four border village heads to be honoured at Red Fort on I-Day
Jaisalmer: Four village heads from Rajasthan's border districts will be honoured as special guests during the Independence Day celebration at Red Fort Aug 15, marking their first participation under the Indian govt's Vibrant Village Programme 2.0. Land conversion hurdles stall RR MoUs grounding
Jaipur: The tourism department Wednesday held a meeting with the MoU holders of the Rising Rajasthan investment summit to address their difficulties and fast-track the grounding of projects. The department invited around 100 investors who already have land in their possession but were unable to implement the projects. Many investors at the event, whom TOI spoke with, said that land conversion has become a major hurdle even though they are eager to set up these projects and not lose business opportunities. "I have been waiting for the past seven months to get my land conversion approval despite having all the required documents," said an MoU holder from Bhilwara who is setting up a 350-room hotel with an investment of around Rs 80 crore. Similarly, a young entrepreneur who signed an MoU to set up an entertainment park in Bear is also facing land conversion issues. "We have land, but we cannot get it converted. The project has been stuck for over six months," the investor said.
