Mana Mudiraj Mahasabha appoints new State Secy
The official appointment was made during a meeting at the Mahasabha's State Office, where State President Dr Chappari Shankara Mudiraj handed over the appointment letter.
Expressing his gratitude, Ashok thanked the State President and all the committee members for entrusting him with the important responsibility. Speaking on the occasion, he pledged to work tirelessly for the welfare and development of the Mudiraj community across Telangana.
Ashok highlighted some of the key challenges faced by the community, particularly the lack of effective support from the state government. He criticized the state for not allocating funds or functioning properly through the BC 'A' Corporation, which was established for the benefit of backward classes.
He emphasized that the corporation has become inactive and is failing to serve its purpose. 'As the newly appointed State Secretary, I will strive to ensure that the issues affecting the Mudiraj community are addressed, and I will work toward the socio-economic upliftment of our people,' Ashok assured.

Transport workers' stir triggers political slugfest between CM and LoP in Karnataka
The Tuesday protest by the public transport employees triggered a slugfest between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) R. Ashok, with the latter blaming the former for the situation. The Chief Minister launched a counterattack, blaming Mr. Ashok, who earlier handled the transport portfolio in the erstwhile BJP government, for failing to resolve the problems of transport workers back then. It all began with Mr. Ashok blaming the 'misrule' of the Chief Minister and the State's 'financial bankruptcy' as the reasons for the transport workers going on a strike, and demanding the Chief Minister's resignation. 'Save Karnataka and allow Kannadigas to live in peace by tendering resignation to your post,' Mr. Ashok said in a social media post. This Chief Minister shot back, saying it was when Mr. Ashok was the Transport Minister that the transport staff had gone on a 15-day strike as they were not being paid their salaries fully then. Unlike the Congress government that had implemented a pay hike with retrospective effect, the erstwhile BJP government had resorted to prospective revision for them, he said. He further alleged that the recruitment of staff and purchase of new buses had been stopped during the BJP rule, while a financial burden of ₹5,900 crore towards various expenses, including pending diesel bills, had been passed on to the next government. However, the Congress that came to power had appointed 10,000 staff and included 5,200 new buses to the fleet, he said. He alleged that the BJP dispensation had borrowed ₹2,000 crore to pay for diesel bills and Provident Fund of the staff, but left the loan repayment to the Congress government. Mr. Siddaramaiah urged Mr. Ashok to remember the 'injustice' done by the BJP dispensation to transport workers before pointing an accusing finger at the Congress government.

Agriculture department ‘slow', won't score higher than ‘six' for speed: B. Ashok
Describing the Agriculture department as a 'slow' government department, B. Ashok, Principal Secretary (Agriculture) and Vice-Chancellor of the Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), said on Wednesday that it needed to increase speed in the implementation process. Compared to the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) where he was previously the Chairman and Managing Director, the Agriculture department was quite slow-paced and would score no higher than six on a scale for speed, Mr. Ashok said. He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop organised by the Agriculture department on the World Bank-aided Kerala Climate Resilient Agri Value-Chain Modernisation Project (KERA). If the transmission wing of the KSEB gets 8.5 marks for speed, the Agriculture department would score only six. It is a matter of institutional culture, Mr. Ashok, who is also the Project Director of KERA and the State Agriculture Production Commissioner, said. Ironically, Mr. Ashok's tenure as teh KSEB CMD had been marked by protracted stand-offs with the KSEB employees' unions. He said he would still give 'huge credit' to the KSEB for being 'very strong implementers.' Mr. Ashok said the World Bank-aided KERA project offered ample opportunities for the department staff to develop skill-sets and create results in the State's farming sector. He lauded the KERA team for speedy organisation of the programme whose five-year term starts in November this year. He also underscored the need for speed in the implementation of projects and decision-making at the KAU. The workshop was attended by staff of the departments of Agriculture, Industries, Soil Survey and Soil Conservation, the State Planning Board, KAU, Vegetable and Fruit Promotion Council, Keralam, Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, and Kerala Startup Mission. Nagesh Kumar Anumala, Chief General Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Kerala Region, presided. Sushil Kumar, General Manager, State Bank of India and KAU dean Roy Stephen spoke.

SIT probe: Ashok suspects conspiracy to bring Dharmasthala Temple under focus
Even though he welcomed the probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the mass burials in Dharmasthala, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashok said he suspects a conspiracy behind media reports bringing Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatha Temple under focus in the process. Speaking to reporters in Mysuru on Monday, Mr. Ashok said certain 'unseen hands' were complicating the investigation into the matter. While the temple authorities too have welcomed the probe, Mr. Ashok said he would go a step further and ask Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself to head an investigation into the matter. For, the 'gang of progressives' will reject the SIT's probe report if it is not in their favour. 'We want this probe to be conducted and the culprits brought out. Let the investigation bring out the truth,' he said, while taking exception to media reports that seek to portray Dharmasthala Manjunatha Temple negatively. While Mr. Ashok claimed that the complainant was a Muslim and the Kerala government was behind it, sources said that the complainant was not a Muslim. Multiple sources have confirmed that the complainant is a Hindu from the Scheduled Castes (SC) community. However, since he is now given protection under the Witness Protection Scheme 2018, his identity cannot be revealed, the sources added. Meanwhile, former Minister M. Shivanna addressed a press conference in Mysuru on Monday and sought an investigation into the background of the 'anonymous individual', who has come forward after 30 years claiming to have buried hundreds of bodies in Dharmasthala. 'It is imperative to investigate this person's background and who is behind him,' said Mr. Shivanna, while expressing concern over the efforts to make baseless allegations against the Dharmasthala or Veerendra Heggade. Though a fair and impartial investigation must be carried out if any such crimes had indeed occurred at Dharmasthala and strict action must be taken against the culprits, Mr. Shivanna said it was also important to protect the sanctity of the revered pilgrimage centre like Dharmasthala and ensured that its reputation is not tarnished by baseless allegations.
