"World should be told about Kashmir's situation": NC leader welcomes all-party delegation
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 19 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader, Tanvir Sadiq has welcomed the all-party delegation which is set to go to various prominent capitals around the world to project India's resolute approach against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, and said that the whole world should be told about the Kashmir issue.
'This is a Parliamentary group constituted by the Government of India; they have decided the members. It is a good initiative; our perspective should be conveyed to the world. The whole world should be told about Kashmir's situation,' Sadiq told ANI in Srinagar.
Meanwhile, in Delhi, while Congress leader Sandeep Dixit welcomed the initiative by the government, he also mentioned that India should insist that other countries also speak to Pakistan to make the country stop its terror activities.
'Delegations have also gone in the past. They will present India's side, but we should know the points. We should insist that other countries speak to Pakistan to stop its terror activities. They (Pakistan) should end it (terrorism) if they want peace and continue with the ceasefire... Most countries of the world stood with India after the Pahalgam attack and criticised terrorism,' Dixit told ANI on Sunday.
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, JDU leader Sanjay Kumar Jha, BJP leader Baijayant Panda, DMK leader Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule, and Shiv Sena leader Shrikant Eknath Shinde will be leading the seven delegations which will go across the world.
The All-Party Delegations will project India's national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations. They would carry forth the country's strong message of zero tolerance against terrorism to the world. Members of Parliament from different parties, prominent political personalities, and distinguished diplomats will be part of each delegation.
The tour is expected to last 10 days and is likely to commence on May 23.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, in which precision strikes destroyed terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoK), eliminating nearly 100 terrorists. (ANI)

Indian embassy in Iran in touch with students to ensure safety, relocation amid Israel conflict
The Indian embassy in Iran has said that it is continuously monitoring the situation and engaging with Indian students to ensure their safety and relocation amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. The statement by the Ministry of External Affairs read, 'The Indian Embassy in Tehran is continuously monitoring the security situation and engaging Indian students in Iran to ensure their safety.' 'In some cases, students are being relocated with Embassy's facilitation to safer places within Iran. Other feasible options are also under examination. Further updates will follow. Separately, the Embassy is in touch with community leaders regarding welfare and safety,' it added. Earlier, former president of Jammu and Kashmir BJP unit Ravinder Raina said that the Centre is taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of students and businessmen from his state. On Sunday, the Indian embassies in Israel and Iran issued an advisory to all Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin to stay in touch with the office, and provided a list of emergency contact numbers on X (formerly Twitter). People were also advised to stay in touch with the embassy on social media. On the same day, Lok Sabha MP Ruhullah Mehdi said that an Israeli strike hit Hujat Dost Ali hostel in Tehran, housing several Kashmiri students. He said that some students sustained minor injuries. Supreme Court stops Centre, IAF from releasing woman officer from service
The Supreme Court on Monday (June 16, 2025) directed the Centre and the Indian Air Force (IAF) not to release from service a woman officer, who was denied permanent commission. A Bench of Justices Ujjal Bhuyan and Manmohan referred to the May 22 order of the top court in which similar directions were passed to the Centre and the IAF on a plea of Wing Commander Niketa Pandey and said the same directions would apply in the case of Wing Commander Kavita Bhati. Without prejudice to the rights of the parties or equity in favour of the officer, the Bench said Wing Commander Kavita Bhati shouldn't be relieved and should be allowed to remain in service till the next hearing. Ms. Bhati, a short service commission officer, claimed she was wrongly denied permanent commission. The top court posted the hearing on August 6 before a regular bench, when matters related to IAF would be taken up for hearing. The top court on May 22 restrained the Centre and the IAF from releasing Pandey, who was part of Operation Balakot and Operation Sindoor but was denied permanent commission. Pandey claimed discrimination in granting permanent commission to her.
