Saudi Arabia assumes presidency of GlobE Network

VIENNA — Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha), has officially assumed the presidency of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network). The assumption of presidency ceremony was held at the United Nations headquarters in Vienna, Austria.
Saudi Arabia was honored with this recognition following its unanimous election to chair the network for the 2025–2027 term during a high-level meeting in Beijing, China. Saudi Arabia's presidency of the network —the largest international platform for coordinating joint efforts among law enforcement agencies to investigate and combat cross-border corruption — underscores member states' recognition of the Kingdom's commitment to fighting corruption.
This also reflects the international community's trust in Saudi Arabia's ability to advance global cooperation in prosecuting those responsible for corruption and addressing cross-border corruption issues. The network includes more than 219 law enforcement agencies from over 120 countries, as well as numerous international organizations.
The handover ceremony marked the transition of leadership from the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime of Spain to Deputy of the Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority for International Cooperation Dr. Nasser Aba Al-Khail. The event was attended by representatives from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), along with several senior international officials and representatives from the network's member states.
Chairman of the GlobE Network Dr. Nasser Aba Al-Khail emphasized that the Kingdom aims to enhance collaboration among member states to combat corruption in alignment with the United Nations Convention against Corruption. 'The Kingdom seeks to create new strategies for asset recovery and initiate a secure communication platform to facilitate quicker and more efficient information exchange among member states. This will enhance international cooperation and empower governments to tackle emerging challenges in combating corruption, refine asset recovery processes, and more effectively trace illicit funds across borders,' he said.
This achievement underscores Saudi Arabia's ongoing dedication to strengthening international initiatives aimed at combating corruption. It plays a significant role in developing the necessary policies and tools to address corruption crimes while promoting transparency and accountability on a global scale. This commitment reinforces Saudi Arabia's status as a proactive contributor to the establishment of fair, just, and sustainable governance systems.

We emphasize the role of the international community in ending the disastrous repercussions of this aggression, as well as in protecting innocent civilians, and working toward a new reality where Palestine can enjoy peace in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions," he said. At the outset of the speech, the Crown Prince said: "It is our pleasure, from the vicinity of the Sacred House of God, to congratulate you and all Muslims around the world on the blessed Eid Al-Adha. We ask God Almighty to accept the pilgrims' Hajj and good deeds," he said. The Crown Prince highlighted Saudi Arabia's lofty position in serving Islam and Muslims, especially the Hajj pilgrims. "God Almighty has honored this country with the service of the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors, including Hajj and Umrah pilgrims and visitors. Saudi Arabia has placed this at the forefront of its priorities, devoting all its capabilities to serving the guests of God and facilitating performance of their rituals in ease and comfort," he said while reaffirming that Saudi Arabia, with God's help and guidance, will continue this endeavor, recognizing the great responsibility and honor of service. "We ask God Almighty to perpetuate security and stability in our country, and in all Muslim countries and across the world, and to accept the Hajj of the pilgrims to the Sacred House of God, and enable them return safely to their families," the Crown Prince added. The reception was attended by several eminent Islamic figures, guests of the King, guests of government agencies, heads of delegations, and pilgrim affairs offices. The dignitaries included President of Mauritania Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Vice President of Benin Mariam Chabi Talata Zimi Berima; and former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed. Minister of Hajj and Umrah and Chairman of the Hajj Guests Service Program Committee Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, Secretary General of the Muslim World League for Jerusalem and Palestine and Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Hussein, and Syrian Minister of Endowments Sheikh Mohammed Abu al-Khair Shukri also spoke on the occasion. In his speech Al-Rabiah highlighted the most notable achievements of this year's Hajj season, including the implementation of 46 new energy projects with a total cost of over SR3 billion, as well as several projects in the transport and health sectors. This is in addition to several infrastructure projects with more than 300,000 square meters of shaded areas and updating of the Nusuk app to provide more than 130 digital services and streamlining of the Nusuk Masar digital platform.

Saudi Arabia deports 9,215 illegal residents in a week
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Saudi security forces have arrested a total of 11,657 illegal residents during the last week. The arrests were made during the joint inspections, carried out by the security forces in collaboration with the relevant government agencies, during the period between May 29 and June 4, the Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday. Those who were arrested included 6,981 violators of the Residency Law, 3,190 violators of the Border Security Law, and 1,486 violators of the Labor Law. The ministry said that a total of 9,215 violators were deported while 12,122 violators were referred to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents and 1,435 violators were referred to complete their travel reservations. A total of 17,018 illegal residents, including 15,991 men and 1,027 women, are currently undergoing various phases of legal procedures as part of punitive measures against them. The Ministry of Interior has warned that any person, who facilitates the illegal entry of individuals into the Kingdom, transports them on its territory, provides them with shelter or any other assistance or service may be penalized with up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million, and that the vehicles used for transportation or houses used for giving shelter will be confiscated. The ministry urged the public to report any cases of violation by calling the number 911 in the regions of Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province and the numbers 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom's regions.

Crown Prince lauds great efforts exerted to ensure comfort of pilgrims
Saudi Gazette Report MINA — On behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received Eid Al-Adha well-wishers at the Royal Court of Mina Palace on Friday. The reception was attended by Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, several princes, senior scholars and sheikhs, senior officials of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, ministers, and the commanders of the military sectors and scouts participating in this year's Hajj. In a speech, the Crown Prince, on behalf of King Salman, congratulated the attendees as well as Saudi citizens, expatriates, and the Hajj pilgrims on the blessed occasion of Eid Al-Adha. 'We implore God Almighty to return this blessed occasion to our nation and to Muslims around the world with continued goodness, prosperity, and peace. The continued success we witness today in serving pilgrims is the result of the efforts of our blessed state in serving the Two Holy Mosques, the holy sites, and their visitors,' he said while emphasizing that Saudi Arabia will continue exerting efforts to ensure comfort of the pilgrims. 'We commend the continuous efforts made by you, those working across various government sectors, and the male and female volunteers in implementing the state's policies so as to enable pilgrims to complete their rituals in security and tranquility. We ask God Almighty to continue blessing us with security and safety, and to grant us success in continuing to perform this great duty to the fullest extent possible,' he added. Lt. Gen. Mohammad Al-Bassami, director of Public Security and chairman of the Hajj Security Committee, delivered a speech on behalf of the military sectors participating in the Hajj. He highlighted the government's financial capabilities, human resources, and technical equipment to serve the pilgrims, paying the utmost attention to the Grand Mosque and its visitors. Al-Bassami said that a total of 213,323 personnel from the security and military sectors are participating in implementing the directives of the leadership to facilitate the performance of the Hajj rituals in safety and security, relying on the help of God and fortified by their professional capabilities, field experience, and knowledge gained from the Saudi Vision, led by the Crown Prince, making serving the pilgrims one of their most important priorities and noble goals. He pointed out that the successes achieved by the Hajj security plans to date are the result of the directives of King Salman and the unlimited support of the Crown Prince for the continuous improvement of service to the pilgrims. He highlighted the supervision and follow-up of the minister of interior and chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee over the preparation and implementation of Hajj security plans, as well as the integration of roles among all participating entities. 'All plans are built on precise foundations and clear responsibilities, supported by an advanced operations center that plays a significant role in managing the security and service system. The center utilizes advanced technologies and modern surveillance systems, making immediate decisions through data analysis and risk assessment to ensure the security and safety of pilgrims,' he added.
