US CG inaugurates restored Imperial Zenana Mosque, Sikh Era Temple
According to the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) on Wednesday, the US government funded the preservation of these two significant monuments, working in collaboration with the Authority and the Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan (AKCSP).
This restoration work is part of a broader US-supported project to conserve seven sites within the fort. 'Through this US-Pakistan partnership, the preservation project has gone well beyond stones and mortar,' the Consul General said. 'Preservation work strengthens communities, builds a sense of belonging, contributes to economic development, and educates future generations about the tremendous heritage that has existed here for centuries.'
According to her, the United States is committed to supporting Pakistan's success through trade, investment, innovation, sports, fashion, culture and much more. Preservation projects like this one contribute not only to protecting Pakistan's cultural heritage but also to fostering interfaith harmony, strengthening local communities, and boosting economic opportunities. In doing so, they advance a safer, stronger, and more prosperous future for both the United States and Pakistan.
According to the WCLA, since 2001, the US Mission to Pakistan has invested US $8.4 million in 35 cultural preservation projects across Pakistan. This ongoing cultural collaboration reflects the US government's enduring commitment to preserving Pakistan's rich cultural legacy while promoting sustainable development, enhancing people-to-people ties, and creating pathways for long-term partnership. By working together to safeguard and celebrate Pakistan's multifaceted heritage, the United States and Pakistan continue to build lasting connections rooted in mutual respect and a vision for a prosperous future for both nations.

Pakistan, China pledge to uphold friendship for regional peace, stability
Pakistan and China have agreed to maintain their friendship, emphasizing that it was significant for maintaining regional peace and stability. This was reaffirmed in the 6th round of Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue in Islamabad today between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. 'Underlining the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China, DPM/FM and FM Wang Yi agreed that Pakistan-China friendship is significant for maintaining regional peace and stability and also indispensable for progress and prosperity of the two countries,' said the FO. The press release said that the two sides also agreed to continue close coordination and communication, both bilaterally and at multilateral forums. Yi is visiting Pakistan for the first time since India's cross-border attack in May. He met with Field Marshal Munir in Beijing a few weeks prior, which is thought to have strengthened the 'ironclad' connection between Beijing and Islamabad. On August 18, the 10th Round of Pakistan-China Bilateral Consultations on Arms Control, Non-Proliferation, and Disarmament was held in Beijing wherein the two sides engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views on issues related to global and regional peace and security.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Pakistan to attend the 6th round of Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue today (Tuesday) in what marks his second visit to Pakistan in three years. He was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The two parties spoke on the full range of Pakistan-China relations and further examined regional and global issues. Today's meeting sets the stage for Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's visit to Beijing later this month to attend the Shanghai summit. The visit is supposed to formally launch CPEC 2.0, which has suffered from a five-year delay. The Chinese FM is due to meet PM Shehbaz and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir during his visit. Both DPM Dar and Wang Yi were in Kabul yesterday to hold trilateral talks with Afghanistan, where they reaffirmed their efforts for regional cooperation and extended the CPEC to Afghanistan.

Punjab CM wants AI-based ‘smart' services in Punjab
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif met Seishiro Eto Chairman Japan's Parliamentarians' Friendship League in which matters pertaining to enhancing Pak-Japan parliamentary contacts were agreed. Seishiro Eto congratulated Maryam Nawaz Sharif on becoming the first female Chief Minister of Punjab. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif appreciated Seishiro Eto's services for promoting parliamentary as well as Pakistan-Japan relations. Seishiro Eto welcomed the visit of the first female Chief Minister to Japan. Seishiro Eto while talking to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif assured that he would play his positive role in bringing investment to Punjab along with launching joint projects with Japan. It was also agreed to further strengthen mutual ties by maintaining contacts at the parliamentary level. Matters relating to issues for increasing cooperation in the sectors of agriculture, industry and manpower were discussed. An underground expressway will be completed in the next few years to preserve the ancient beauty of Nihonbashi Bridge. Nihonbashi Expressway is a mega project being built under public-private partnership in Japan. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was also apprised about the eco-friendly effects of the Nihonbashi Expressway project.
