Catterall stepping up a weight to face Eubank
Jack Catterall will look to return to winning ways when he takes on undefeated British welterweight rival Harlem Eubank at Manchester's AO Arena on Saturday July 5, live worldwide on DAZN, and in association with Wasserman Boxing.
The Chorley fighter makes the move up to 147lbs following his razor close split decision loss to the USA's Arnold Barboza Jr in their interim WBO Super-Lightweight World Title clash in February.
Brighton's Eubank is yet to taste defeat since joining the professional ranks back in 2017, and the 31-year-old stopped Belfast's Tyron McKenna in nine rounds to pick up the IBF Intercontinental Title in his hometown last time out in March.
'This is another huge domestic fight that I can really sink my teeth into,' said Catterall. 'After the disappointment of my last fight, I'm grateful to Frank Smith and Eddie Hearn for giving me the opportunity to headline again in Manchester.
'I'm eager to put on a big performance and make a statement in my first fight up at Welterweight. The Eubank name is hot at the moment but I'm ready to put the fire out in style.'
'This is a fight that's been on my radar for a long time, and I'm delighted it's finally happening,' said Eubank. 'Jack is a world-class fighter and, in my view — and many others' — a former undisputed champion.
'These are the elite-level match-ups I've been calling for, and make no mistake, I'm ready. They say timing is everything in boxing, and this summer clash couldn't have come at a better moment in my career.'
Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Sport Chairman, said: 'Another huge domestic clash for Chorley's Jack Catterall as he takes on unbeaten Brighton man Harlem Eubank in his first fight up at Welterweight.
'Both men are huge names in British boxing and this is a fight that promises to deliver for the fans. Jack has proved that he belongs on the world stage, and this will be his third headliner in a row in Manchester.
'Harlem comes into this fight in red-hot form, looking to prove that he belongs on the biggest stage. We'll have news on a stacked undercard dropping soon. Catch it all live on the home of boxing, DAZN.'
Kalle Sauerland, Global Head of Boxing at Wasserman, said: 'You can't beat a domestic dust-up and Catterall vs. Eubank has all the makings of a classic.
'Jack has been operating at world level for many years, but Harlem has shown with his recent performances that he now belongs on this stage.
'He is one of the biggest names in British boxing, his rise through the levels has been watched by millions of fans and on July 5, in Manchester, another chapter will be written in the famous Eubank story.'
Sam Jones, manager of Catterall, said: 'I'm delighted to get this fight done, thank you to Matchroom, Frank and Eddie once again for giving Jack these opportunities. Jack is a world level fighter and after the blip in his last fight, he will make this very conclusive.'
Jamie Conlan, manager of Eubank, said: 'As we have seen recently, domestic match-ups are what grips the boxing public, especially if a Eubank is involved. This is a massive fight for British boxing with world level implications.
'Jack's been to the top, fighting for unified World Titles and, in many eyes, should've won. Now, coming off his second loss, he's under pressure to prove himself. Meanwhile, Harlem's riding a wave of momentum in Brighton, having beaten two of Jack's former opponents more convincingly. This is the perfect moment for Harlem to make his mark on world boxing.'
'Fight fans love a proper, well matched domestic matchup,' said Alfie Sharman VP, DAZN. 'Jack is coming off the back of a very close loss, but has shown time and time again that he belongs at the world level. Harlem is a fantastic fighter who is ready to take his moment on the world stage. What a fight we have in store July 5. Watch it live, only on DAZN.'
Tickets for Catterall vs. Eubank will be available to purchase via events365.com and axs.com priced at £40, £60, £100, £200 and £350 (Ringside).

Liverpool contact representatives of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz
Liverpool have contacted Florian Wirtz's representatives to explore the possibility of signing the Bayer Leverkusen star this summer. The 22-year-old, who is one of the most highly rated attacking midfielders in Europe, is attracting strong interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Advertisement Wirtz has not yet decided whether to leave Leverkusen or move abroad, but Liverpool are closely monitoring the situation. The club's interest is not new, and their recent approach signals a willingness to act swiftly if the German decides to pursue a Premier League switch. The Reds have already held discreet talks with Wirtz's camp as they attempt to position themselves ahead of potential rivals. Man City are also actively pursuing the midfielder and view him as a long-term successor to Kevin De Bruyne. They have reportedly met with the player's agent and father to discuss a transfer that could reach £126 million, potentially eclipsing the British record. Advertisement Despite that, Liverpool are ready to rival any offer if Wirtz gives the green light to a move. Wirtz is under contract with Leverkusen until 2027, but speculation about a departure has intensified following another standout season. He has scored ten goals and provided 12 assists in 30 Bundesliga appearances this term, continuing the form that helped his side win their first-ever league title last season. The Germany international was also named the Bundesliga's Player of the Season for 2023-24 and played a vital role in their unbeaten domestic run. He has been capped 29 times by his country and featured in Julian Nagelsmann's squad at the 2024 European Championship. Advertisement While Leverkusen chief executive officer Fernando Carro recently stated that Wirtz has a 'very high chance' of staying, interest from top European clubs remains strong. Liverpool view Wirtz as a marquee option to strengthen their creative midfield options. A transfer would not come cheap, with Leverkusen expected to demand a figure surpassing Chelsea's £115 million signing of Moises Caicedo.

'Ready for war': Aussie Opetaia alert to Italian ambush
Like the 27 challengers who have come before him, Jai Opetaia is swatting away Claudio Squeo's threat to derail the Australian boxing superstar's undisputed world title dream. Opetaia (27-0, 21KOs) will place his IBF and The Ring cruiserweight belts on the line against the unbeaten Squeo (17-0, 9KOs) on Sunday. Despite entering the bout as a 15-1 underdog, the Italian is promising to prove the doubters wrong and pull off one of boxing's great boilovers at the Gold Coast Exhibition Centre. "This is a big opportunity to shock the world, the people writing you off," Squeo said through a translator on Friday. First face off done. War ready. 😤 This Sunday on @DAZNBoxing — Jai Opetaia (@jaiopetaia1) June 4, 2025 But with a multi-million-dollar pay day and a place in Australian boxing immortality also at stake, Opetaia is having none of it. With much bigger fish to fry, the 29-year-old is vowing to win whatever way is required, knowing a loss is non negotiable ahead of a succession of potential super fights that could propel him to Hall of Fame status. "I believe I can beat him in the pocket, I believe I can outbox him. We are just going to fight smart," Opetai said. "We've got to choose our battles and just wait til Sunday." The fight comes almost three years after a then-unfancied Opetaia defied two jaw fractures to beat champion Mairis Briedis and claim his two straps. Opetaia has fought five times since, with the Briedis rematch last year his only genuine challenge, and is yet to land a shot at the other three belts in his division. Badou Jack owns the WBC belt but it is WBO and WBA champion Gilberto Ramirez who is firmly in Opetaia's sights. The Mexican two-weight champion is due for a mandatory defence later this month and insistent he will face Opetaia next. Should both win, as most predict they will, Opetaia will be in line to finally secure a unification blockbuster against Ramirez later this year. An Opetaia-Ramirez mega-money four-belt stoush would sit nicely on the undercard to September's historic duel between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford in Las Vegas. Little wonder why Opetai's priority is to see off Squeo however he needs to, saying he's even ready to slug it out for 12 full rounds if that's what it takes. "Once that bell goes every time, man, it's on and I'm ready for 12 rounds of war," he said. "I've got no doubt he's going to come forward. That's got to be his game plan. "We've just got to be patient. We just stick to our game plan, do what we do and we put on clinics. "So on Sunday, I love to put on a clinic. We always do the goods, we always put on good performances. "We are some hard-noses. We've been in the trenches the last couple of weeks. I'm riding in the wave. You know how I train to stop people."

British canoeist forced to decide between Olympic dream and his ‘spicy' OnlyFans page
Canoeist Kurts Adams Rozentals has a decision to make — his OnlyFans or the Olympics. The British athlete was reportedly suspended last month by governing body Paddle UK, and he suspects it has something to do with his racy activity online. Advertisement 'I have been posting videos (on Instagram) that are consciously made to be edgy in order to drive conversions to my 'spicy content page' (on OnlyFans), to fund this ultimate dream of going to the Olympics,' Rozentals said in an interview with BBC Sport. Kurts Adams Rozentals, who competes in the individual canoe slalom, was suspended in April by governing body Paddle UK following 'allegations' about his posts on social media. Instagram/@kurtsadams Paddle UK removed Rozentals from its World Class Programme pending an investigation Instagram/@kurtsadams Rozentals was removed from the World Class Programme, an initiative for potential Olympic athletes, by Paddle UK pending investigation, leaving his canoeing dreams up in the air. 'I kind of froze and I couldn't believe the words I was hearing because this is what I put my life into this is everything I do,' Rozentals told the outlet of the moment he heard the news. Advertisement 'My personality at this point, my identity, is sport and I want to be a professional athlete chasing my Olympic dream.' BBC Sport reported Rozentals 'has more than 10,000 'likes' on the platform and 'has posted 39 videos and over 100 photos' earning more than '£100,000 (about $135,000) since creating his OnlyFans account in January.' 'This is the hardest decision that I've ever faced in my life,' Rozentals said. 'I came to the realization about why I started doing this last winter after years of struggle, living on the edge, my mum working 90 hours-a-week, having bailiffs at the door. Rozentals created his OnlyFans to help fund his training. Instagram/@kurtsadams 'I'm going to find a way where we don't have to struggle, where my mum can enjoy her life and I'm able to put everything into this sport because when you're thinking about how to pay the rent this month and you're standing at the start line, that's not very conducive (to performing well).' Advertisement As a UK Paddle Programme athlete, Rozentals had been receiving £16,000 a year — around $21,600 — but said that's nowhere near enough to sustain himself. 'I don't know how much you need but it's certainly not £16,000,' said Rozentals. 'When you have to cover rent, travel, food… and most athletes who train full-time are all living in London. Rozentals posts videos and pictures on his Instagram account to drive viewers towards the content. Instagram/@kurtsadams 'They're very fortunate to have parent backing — I wasn't. I never had the ability to move to London because of financial struggles so I was always doing the travel from the East Midlands, where I live, to London, back-and-forth, back-and-forth.'
