John Torode, Lisa Faulkner And The 'Cowardly' Letter Explained
Given that both MasterChef co-hosts have been in the headlines this week, attention has turned to their personal relationships and their friendship too. Wallace has been married to his fourth wife, Anne-Marie Sterpini since 2016 and they have one son together. Torode has been married to fellow TV chef and actress Lisa Faulkner since 2019, and he has four children with his first wife Jessica Torode. Given the recent news, one story about how Faulkner and Torode first got together appears to have been lost in translation, with rumours swirling that they are getting divorced.
No, there is no evidence to suggest Faulkner and Torode, who host John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen together on ITV, are getting divorced or breaking up. The story about his 'cowardly letter' is to do with how they first got together, not them splitting up.
Torode and Faulkner met when she competed on Celebrity MasterChef in 2010 and built a friendship that later turned into a relationship. 'He was a judge on a show I loved and I was petrified of him. He was brilliant and gave us all tips so you didn't want to let him down,' she told the Mirror. 'All I could think was, "That sauce hasn't worked." I didn't see anything but food for three months. After I won, we did The Good Food Show and stuff. John and I always got on, but I never thought about me and him.'
In 2013, Faulkner told The Daily Mail their friendship had progressed. 'I don't know how things change, but something does. He asked me on a date. We went out for dinner. Then it was slightly different. I'm really, really happy. John and I are having such a nice time but we're taking things slowly. There are lots of other people to consider.'
Torode later admitted that his method of reaching out to Lisa via letter was 'cowardly', but it spared him potential embarrassment if she declined his advances. He said, 'I'd separated from my wife [Jessica] which was awful, and I was reluctant to approach Lisa face to face as I didn't fancy the prospect of her saying no, so I wrote her a letter. If I'd got no response, it wouldn't matter. Cowardly? S***, yeah. I'm as cowardly as they get.' It is this remark that has resurfaced without context this week.

Shaughna Phillips gives fresh details of second pregnancy shock with jailbird boyfriend
Love Island star Shaughna Phillips has admitted she was stunned to fall pregnant so fast after agreeing to have a second child with boyfriend Billy Webb - who was jailed in 2023 for drugs crimes Shaughna Phillips has revealed she was shocked to learn she was pregnant a second time - as it all happened so fast. The 31-year-old is already a mother to two-year-old daughter Lucia - who she shares with former estate agent Billy Webb. Reality show fans will know Shaughna shot to fame in 2020 when she was a contestant on the sixth season of ITV's Love Island. She later fell for Billy - who was jailed in 2023 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine - worth at least £360,000. While Billy was sentenced to nine years behind bars - with his trial taking place in the thick of Shaughna's first pregnancy - he is soon to be given early release from his jail term. While behind bars, however, he and Shaughna have managed to conceive their second child - who is expected to arrive in November. Opening up about the conception, Shaughna has explained that she and Billy discussed their plans to expand their little family. However, the Love Island beauty was left stunned by just how quickly she fell pregnant the second time. In a new interview, she joked that she kept one pregnancy test company in business as she bought so many tests just to be ready to find out if she and Billy had been successful or not. And she also revealed she was stunned to see a positive result soon after they agreed to try a second time. She told The Sun:"I was trying. It was my first attempt at, I guess, getting pregnant, like actively trying. And so I knew that there was a chance, but I've probably kept Clear Blue in business. "If you saw my Amazon orders, I was ordering test after test after test. It was actually ridiculous. So, yeah, I knew that there was a chance. But I really didn't expect it to happen on the first try. Like, I'm very lucky in that sense." The reality star's latest interview comes after she already opened up to The Mirror about her second pregnancy plans. She revealed she had been tracking her ovulation to boost her chances of conceiving, and said she was stunned that her baby dream came true so quickly. 'It was the first time that my ovulation window coincided with Billy being home,' she told us when she was already four-and-a-half months pregnant. 'I was like, 'You know what? Why not? Let's just see'. And literally, the next day, I said to Billy, 'I think I'm pregnant.'' And she said: 'I found out very, very early on. I was doing maybe five tests a day. I'm not even exaggerating.' Shaughna said Billy was allowed out from jail on home visits for 'a few days' each month. And while she has so far been forced to raise her daughter as a single parent, she shared her hope that Billy will be released in time for their new arrival. 'I know the date that he's due to be home, but I'm not saying it just because anything could happen,' she admitted cautiously. 'But hopefully he will be fully home before my baby is due.' Last month, Shaughna discussed the gender of her unborn second child during a Q&A with her Instagram followers. One fan asked: "So pleased for you! Are you going to find out the gender?" Shaughna shared a screengrab of herself from a longer video where she was seen with her mouth wide open in shock. She wrote: "We do know the gender, this was my reaction." The star also revealed she will be undergoing a C-Section after having a 'rough' birth with daughter Lucia. Speaking about Lucia's birth, she said: "Induction, 2 days labour, pushed for an hour and she was not moving, She got really stressed and was rushed for forceps which FAILED because she turned around, and then she was rushed for an emergency C-Section and ended up with a postpartum haemorrhage."

Game of Thrones star joins 'promising' new historical BBC drama opposite James Norton
The BBC has unveiled a sneak peek at the forthcoming historical drama King and Conqueror, set to broadcast next month. The series, formerly known as 1066, will see the pair battle for the throne alongside their respective wives. The teaser features James Norton in the role of Harold, Earl of Wessex, while Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, known for Game of Thrones, plays William, Duke of Normandy. The drama will depict the duo's struggle for the throne, alongside their respective wives, Edith Swan-neck (Emily Beecham) and Matilda (Clémence Poésy). The trailer also introduces allies and foes such as King Edward (Eddie Marsan), Lady Emma (Juliet Stevenson), Morcar (Elander Moore), Gytha (Clare Holman), Tostig (Luther Ford), Queen Gunhild (Bo Bragason) and Godwin (Geoff Bell). King and Conqueror tells the tale of a conflict that shaped the destiny of a nation – and a continent – for a millennium, with roots reaching back decades and extending through two intertwined family dynasties, vying for power across two countries and a turbulent sea, reports the Mirror. Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy were two men fated to clash at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; two allies with no initial ambition for the English throne, who found themselves compelled by circumstance and personal obsession into a war for its crown. The programme consists of eight hour-long episodes and will also feature Jean-Marc Barr as King Henry, Elliott Cowan as Sweyn, Bjarne Henriksen as Earl Siward, Oliver Masucci as Baldwin, Indy Lewis as Margaret, Jason Forbes as Thane Thomas, Ingvar Sigurdsson as Fitzosbern, Ines Asserson as Judith, Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson as Hardrada and Léo Legrand as Odo. Fresh promotional artwork for the drama presents a monochrome portrait of Harold with a resolute expression whilst William looms behind him, ready for combat. BBC audiences were swift to react to the programme's preview, with one commenting: "I hope they include the part where William had Harold buried on the beach, to guard the English shore.'I always found that quite touching, like a mark of his respect for such a great warrior." Another contributed: "The story of William the Conqueror; updated for a modern audience," whilst a third wrote: "Bout damn time they dropped this trailer. They been talking about this show for a year and a half." Someone else remarked: "Hopefully, this show will fulfill how I missed Vikings," as another contributed: "First i have heard of this but it seems really promising."

Jack P Shepherd and Hanni Treweek tie the knot as first snaps emerge from lavish wedding
The Corrie star and his new wife have been pictured together for the first time on their wedding day. Telly favourite Jack P Shepherd and Hanni Treweek have officially tied the knot. The Coronation Street star and his new wife were married at Manchester Cathedral today. The first photos from their special day have now emerged. As can be seen in our sister title The Mirror, the couple were all smiles in the pictures from the moments after they said 'I do'. The soap star, best known for his role as David Platt, looked dapper in a suit as he stood next to Hanni. The 37-year-old was seen wearing an off-white suit jacket over a black waistcoat and white shirt, completed with black trousers and a bow tie. Hanni, 36, looked stunning in a long white dress with a full skirt and an impressively long train. Her gown featured a lace, off-the-shoulder top with long sleeves, adding to her elegant bridal look. She finished off her outfit with a lengthy veil, held in place by a tiara. The newlyweds shared a romantic kiss on the steps of Manchester Cathedral, while their delighted guests showered them with confetti. Jack proposed to Hanni last year during a romantic safari trip in Tanzania. The pair had been colleagues on the popular soap before their relationship blossomed. The soap actor previously revealed that his participation in Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year was to help fund their extravagant wedding day, although he didn't anticipate winning the ITV reality show. In the run-up to their big day, the couple offered sneak peeks into their planning process, which they've been undertaking with the help of events company Taylor Lynn Corporation. Hanni shared highlights from the planning process on Instagram, including a photo of the day she said yes to the dress, as well as when she chose the wine for their wedding. She revealed charming details, such as how she and Jack "built our guest list in this cosy little cabin". As she celebrated the four-week countdown to her wedding in the post, she said: "Here's to four weeks of making special memories, feeling excited, nervous, overwhelmed, emotional, in love and everything else that comes with being a bride". Groom Jack responded with: "It's gonna be EPIC!". Meanwhile, Jack previously provided a glimpse into their wedding plans when asked on Good Morning Britain if he planned to invite his Celebrity Big Brother housemates to his big day. Jack admitted: "I don't think so. I've only known them three weeks and have a guest list a mile long." Jack and Hanni first met when his now-bride appeared on Coronation Street – she later worked on the soap as a storyline writer. However, sparks didn't fly until they reunited at a friend's wedding sometime later. Jack previously reminisced: "We got chatting, I made Hanni laugh, we had a couple of drinks and we flirted. That was it." The duo started seeing each other later that year after a chance encounter at a supermarket. Jack humorously commented on the awkwardness of their meeting, while Hanni was worried about her looks. However, Jack was completely taken with her, admitting: "I actually thought she looked fit I just saw the girl I fancy wearing lycra! We quickly went on our first date and we just clicked."
