After becoming the first Ghanaian solo female act to perform at Coachella this past spring, Amaarae continues to put her cultural pride on display with her third studio album Black Star, due Aug. 8 via Interscope Records. Odeal, 'London Summers'
Odeal is ready to be outside with a new ting on his arm on 'London Summers,' the first single from his upcoming EP The Summer That Saved Me. Shae Jacobs and Jack Dine blend the shuffling percussion of house with Afrobeats and R&B's breezy grooves to create Odeal's latest day party jam. And his sensual lyrics, like 'Headed back to your place/ I done fell in love with your taste/ Never get enough of your fragrance' capture the fleeting exhilaration of a summertime fling – as well as the hope it lingers a little longer after the season's over.
Bloody Civilian, 'Ladida'
The Nigerian singer-songwriter-producer returns with 'Ladida,' her first single of 2025. The rousing Afro-fusion production soundtracks the hormonal rush that only her lover gives her, but the lighthearted bounciness of her 'La-di-da-da-da-da' hook puts her back at ease.
Maleek Berry feat. Wizkid, 'Situation'
Maleek Berry reunites with longtime collaborator and friend Wizkid on the sizzling highlight track 'Situation' from his debut album If Only Love Was Enough. Berry finds himself stressing over a girl who's giving him the run around, but Wiz reminds her she'd still be his even in another life. 'Back in the day we understood each other very well, and I think that's what has allowed us to keep this connection for all these years and understand each other musically for all these years,' Berry told Clash of his working relationship with Wizkid.
Amaarae, 'S.M.O.'
Amaarae champions sexual liberation and summertime gratification on 'S.M.O.,' the slinky lead single from her upcoming third album Black Star. In a press release, the Ghanaian-American star says 'S.M.O.' is inspired by 'Ghanaian '80s highlife trailblazer Ata Kak and blends it with a mean Detroit club bass, a drum roll akin to both Magic System's '1er Gas '1er Gaou' and Michael Jackson's 'Rock With You' and an infectious zouk melody that sounds like a steel pan lipsing an evil synth.' She compares the song's sensual messaging to Janet Jackson's 'The Pleasure Principle' and Donna Summer's 'Love to Love You Baby,' adding, 'I don't know how much clearer one can get when they ask you to 'SLUT ME OUT.''
Olamide, Wizkid & Darkoo, 'Billionaires Club'
Olamide is living it up on 'Billionaires Club' with Wizkid and Darkoo from his latest self-titled album. P.Priime's blissfully laidback production provides the perfect backdrop for Olamide and Wiz's braggadocious verses. Meanwhile, Darkoo impressively holds her own while putting her sexy touch on the third verse that brings the song to a sweeping, cinematic close.
Olamide, '1 Shot'
Olamide's self-titled latest album is full of outstanding collaborations with some of the brightest lights in Nigerian music right now: Wizkid, Seyi Vibez, Darkoo, Asake, SPINALL, Young Jonn and Boj among them, and he even clears space for a Dr. Dre verse. But he hardly needs help in producing a great song, and on the solo cut '1 Shot' he reminds everyone that he's hands down among the greatest and deserves mention among his peers on the continent. It's an instantly catchy track with throwback vibes and a swagger to it that only really he can pull off.
Young Jonn feat. Asake, 'Che Che'
Long a superproducer in his own right, Young Jonn at this point can be considered at the forefront of Afrobeats as a lead artist, too, with a track record of dropping big hits for a few years straight now — and this collaboration with the young legend Asake stands alongside his other recent work in that regard. It's an intricate production, with Jonn taking the first verse and the hook before clearing way for Asake to do his thing.
Spinall feat. Destin Conrad and JayO, 'Want You'
DJ Spinall has, like Young Jonn, made a successful foray into lead artist territory in the last few years, and seems to save his best stuff for his own projects. This one has a late-night sweaty summer dancefloor vibe, as excellently produced as anything in his catalog, with breathy vocals to match. His instrumentation has always stood out, and does again here.
Crayon, 'Roju'
'Roju' is a vocal showcase for the Nigerian singer, as well as a love song to both a woman and the world. With a hard-driving drum background that belies its light and airy feel, Crayon delivers a big standout in his career in time for the summertime, with a hook that soars majestically over a swelling organ.
BNXN & FOLA, 'Very Soon'
BNXN has become one of the most reliable hitmakers in the game over the past few years, with his heartfelt and melodic vocals often shining through brightest. On this track, he and FOLA trade lines seamlessly and effortlessly, with the young singer fitting right in on the emotional track about a strained relationship that both sides are trying to save.

An Acclaimed Iranian Restaurant From London Is Opening in the Arts District
is an editor of the Southern California/Southwest region, who covers the evolving landscape of LA's food scene. The British are coming to Soho Warehouse. London-based Iranian restaurant Berenjak will open in the Arts District's Soho Warehouse in late September. This is the first publicly accessible location for the restaurant in the U.S.; Berenjak also operates a location at the Dumbo House that is only available to members. The opening comes from a partnership between Soho House and JKS Restaurants, which also operates two-Michelin-starred Indian restaurant Gymkhana. Inspired by kebab houses in Tehran, Kian Samyani founded Berenjak in London in 2018. The menu draws on Samyani's family recipes, offering coal-grilled kebabs and khoresht (stews), alongside smaller plates like hummus, sangak (flatbread), and zeytoon (olives). The restaurant has received widespread acclaim, garnering a Michelin Bib Gourmand and a shout-out from Dua Lipa as one of her favorite London Restaurants. Currently, Berenjak operates two locations in London — one in SoHo and another in Borough — alongside outposts in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. Berenjak The menu at Los Angeles's Berenjak has yet to be finalized, but guests can expect classics from the other locations, alongside new exclusive dishes — and of course, plenty of kebabs. Miiro Borneta, Barcelona hotel review
A surprisingly serene hotel, given its location in buzzy El Born, Borneta is a gorgeous hotel with a member's club vibe and an unbeatable rooftop pool. Borneta is perfectly placed to explore El Born's fabulous food and drink scene, and venturing out to the nearby wine and cocktail bars – of which there are many – is a highlight of any stay here. My top tip is the unassuming but dead popular tapas spot, Bar Joan Annabel Nugent Location Situated in the interlocking, puzzle-like streets of leafy El Born, the hotel is well placed for exploring Barcelona's sites, including Ciutadella Park, the Picasso Museum, the Moco Museum and the Foto Colectania Foundation, and is a surprisingly serene spot given its buzzy location. Barceloneta beach is only a 20-minute walk away, as are many great restaurants, including Super, a trendy new spot to enjoy market cuisine and natural wines. Only a couple of doors down from Borneta is the Spanish outpost of Aire: a luxurious, candle-lit spa which also has sites in London and New York. Read more: The best hotels in Barcelona The vibe Designed by London-based studio, Thurstan, the interiors bear the same clean lines and muted colour palette you'd find in London's trendy hotels – but there is a distinct Spanish feel thanks to rattan rugs and Catalan art throughout. Also dotted around are treasures picked up from the city's famous flea markets. The local feel is no doubt bolstered by the hotel's grand entrance, through the 19th-century arches of Passeig de Picasso. The ground-floor lounge is expansive with several plush sofas and a marble bar situated beneath a sweeping skylight. Tucked into one corner is The Library, a maroon den awash in low lighting and velvet upholstery. More frequently used by guests, however, is the large communal table in the lounge where digital nomads can be found firing off emails before hitting the beach. The vibe at Borneta is not dissimilar to that of a member's club – without the snooty clientele. Coffee table books are there to be flicked through and sofas are made for sinking into. In busy periods, a few more personnel on hand to help with the torrent of check-ins wouldn't hurt. As for the rooms themselves, rates (Essential; Premium; The Full Works) reflect the level of service you can expect and the add-ons, such as often a room is cleaned and minibar treats. Design wise, the rooms foster a sense of calm – awash with warm tones of terracotta and olive green, complemented by wood and jute. There are Marshall speakers and Nespresso machines in every room. If the true test of a great hotel room are its bathrooms, then Borneta passes with flying colours. Green marble and creamy Zellige tiles frame walk-in showers, which are fitted with full-size Le Labo products. One suite even has an alfresco bathtub. Very importantly for peak summer, the air conditioning is crankable and the curtains are black out. Pro tip: if you'd like higher ceilings (who wouldn't?) request a room on the second floor. Food and drink Volta is the hotel's restaurant, and a destination in itself among locals. Catalan for 'to go around', Volta has a menu that roams between Spain, Italy, France and North Africa. The produce is all local and organic, with market-fresh fish and Catalan ingredients at the heart of the offering. Raw dishes such as sea bass tartare are a highlight. At the rooftop bar, you can order cocktails and snacks. Looking out over Parc de la Ciutadella, it is the perfect place to start your morning with an iced coffee. Beyond the stellar view, the piece de resistance is a bespoke mirrored egg sculpture by the Grammy-nominated, Argentine-born artist Pilar Zeta. In busy periods the pool does get a little crowded. The basement gym (open 24 hours a day) is simple but chic, with wood accents and an old-school feel. The hotel's Refresh Room is perfect if you're between check-in and check-out with nowhere to go. Showers, toiletries, charging points and smart lockers are available for use so that you can spend your last hours in Barcelona lounging by the pool instead of dragging your suitcase around the city. There is one adapted room on every floor, with the exception of the fifth. Pet policy Pets are welcome in three of the pet-friendly rooms upon request. There is a €30 (£26) charge per pet per night, with a maximum of one pet per room. Check in/check out Check in from 3pm; check out by 11am. Family-friendly? Yes – though while everyone is welcome at Borneta, the hotel is perhaps better suited to adults; the pool, for example, is more chill-out than splash-about. Lady Gaga's New Album Dances Back To The Charts
Lady Gaga dropped her new album Mayhem in early March and just a few months later kicked off The Mayhem Ball. The global trek sees the pop superstar traveling to countries across several continents and performing dozens of shows before wrapping in early 2026. As photos and videos of her high-octane performances make the rounds on social media after every new tour date, interest in Mayhem grows, and fans in the United Kingdom are getting excited for their chance to see the Grammy and Oscar winner before The Mayhem Ball hits London in September. Mayhem Returns to Multiple Charts The project reappears on multiple charts in that country, as Mayhem dances back onto two tallies in the U.K. this week. Gaga's latest full-length returns to the Official Physical Albums chart — which ranks only the top-selling titles available on CD, cassette, or vinyl — at No. 75. The same project also breaks onto the Official Album Sales chart at No. 79. Lady Gaga's Former No. 1 Mayhem has now spent the exact same length of time on both of those sales lists, as this frame is its twenty-first on the two rosters. In the past, when Mayhem was brand new, it hit No. 1, becoming a top seller in the U.K. Mayhem and The Fame Chart – But Don't Cross This week, Gaga sees two of her albums find space on the charts in the U.K., though there's no overlap between the pair. As Mayhem becomes a bestseller, The Fame, her debut full-length, appears on both the Official Albums and Official Album Streaming charts. On the former, which ranks the most consumed titles, her decade-plus-old set jumps to No. 56, while simultaneously declining slightly on the streaming-only tally. 'Die With a Smile' Represents Mayhem on the Charts Mayhem may be a hit on the charts once again, but only one single from the project is still going strong, and it's the oldest of the bunch. 'Die With a Smile,' her collaboration with Bruno Mars, lifts on four rosters at once. In just a few days, it will reach 52 weeks — a full year — on both streaming and sales rankings. An even older tune, 'Always Remember Us This Way,' is also growing. That solo track, taken from her A Star Is Born soundtrack album, rises on the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts, coming in at No. 61 and No. 59, respectively.
