Powerball player hits $204 million jackpot in California. Where was ticket sold?
A California lottery player hit the Powerball jackpot after matching all six numbers in the latest drawing.
On Saturday, May 31, the player matched the winning numbers 1, 29, 37, 56, 68 and the Powerball 13 to win the $204.5 million jackpot, according to the Powerball.
The ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in Arleta, the California Lottery said. Arleta is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles.
The player can choose between a one-time lump sum payment of $91.6 million or annuity payments for the full amount. Both options are the totals before taxes.
Players in Florida and New Hampshire won $2 million each, according to the national Powerball site.
More than 580,000 other Powerball players in the United States won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000.
This is the fourth Powerball jackpot won this year. A player in Oregon won $328 million in January, a player in California won $526 million in March and a player in Kentucky won $167 million in April.
The Powerball jackpot is now reset to an estimated $20 million with a cash option of about $9 million for the next drawing on June 2.
What to know about Powerball
To score the jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.
The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.
Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.
Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.
Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
