MUSCAT: A senior military official from the Republic of Korea and his accompanying delegation on Sunday visited the Maritime Security Centre (MSC). The delegation was greeted upon their arrival at the MSC by Commodore Adil bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Head of the Maritime Security Centre (MSC). Members of the visiting delegation were briefed about the tactical roles and tasks carried out by the centre in the safety of the Omani maritime environment. They also toured the centre's facilities and viewed its latest equipment and technologies used in carrying out its national duties. - ONA

Tehran, Iran – Muscat is set to host a fresh round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States on Sunday, with Oman once again playing the role of mediator. Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed the upcoming talks, stating that both sides would meet in Muscat for the sixth time, with Omani mediation continuing under the guidance of Foreign Minister H E Sayyid Badr al Busaidi. Three previous rounds were held in Muscat and two in Rome. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi, said Tehran was in the final stages of preparing its written response to a US proposal concerning Iran's nuclear programme. 'We are preparing the response, which has not yet been finalised,' Takht-e-Ravanchi told the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency. 'Good work has been made on it, and we believe that the response we will provide will be reasonable. We hope it will be completed in the coming days and handed over to Oman's Foreign Minister so he can convey it to the Americans.'

Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Sunday sent a cable of congratulations to the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Prince Mohammed bin Salman al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, on the success of haj season. In the cable, His Majesty the Sultan lauded the great efforts exerted by the Saudi government every year in serving the pilgrims and providing all necessary conditions and services for the smooth, safe and easy performance of the haj pilgrimage. His Majesty prayed to the Almighty Allah to grant Saudi Arabia permanent success in organising the performance of this sacred duty in the most perfect manner. Exchange of greetings His Majesty the Sultan exchanged Eid al Adha greetings over a phone call on Sunday with President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation, and Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. His Majesty prayed to Allah the Almighty for the return of this and similar occasions on them and on peoples of their countries, as well as all Muslims around the world with blessings and bounties. On their turn, the leaders expressed their sincere greetings and best wishes to His Majesty the Sultan and the Omani people. They prayed to Allah the Almighty to grant His Majesty good health and well-being.
