UP govt adds 19L hectares of irrigation capacity with 29 projects in eight years
These projects have directly benefited 43,53,850 farmers across the state and led to an increase of 19,11,231 hectares in irrigation capacity. The initiative not only strengthens state's agricultural productivity but also marks a major milestone in flood control and water conservation efforts.
Guided by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision, Uttar Pradesh has made steady strides in developing irrigation infrastructure.
Over the past eight years, seven major irrigation projects were completed—Bansagar Canal Project, Lahchura Dam Project, Pahari Dam Project, Saryu Canal National Project, Arjun Sahayak Canal Project, UP Water Restructuring Project (Phase-II), and Umarhat Pump Project (Phase-II).
Together, they have benefited 42,28,355 farmers across 28 districts, increasing irrigation capacity by 18,41,932 hectares.
In addition, 16 medium-scale irrigation projects were completed. These include the Utari Dam Project, restoration of Maudaha Dam Canal System, rehabilitation of Pahuj Dam, restoration of Gunta Dam, Jamrar Dam Canal Project, Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Patharai Dam Project, Bhawani Dam Project, Bandai Dam Project, Rasin Dam Project, irrigation facility for 15 villages in Babina Block, restoration of Ghori Canal, completion of Lakheri Dam works, construction of Nahil Barrage and canal restoration in Rampur, feeder channel project for filling Badwar Lake from 45 km of Gursanrai main canal, Kulpahad Sprinkler Project, and the construction of Rohin Barrage in Maharajganj.
These medium-scale projects benefitted 97,312 farmers across eight districts, primarily in Bundelkhand, adding 64,104 hectares to the state's irrigation capacity.
Six small-scale irrigation projects were also completed, including the restoration of Jakhlon Canal System, Ratouli Weir Project, Masgaon and Chilli Sprinkler Irrigation Project, restoration of Jargo Canal System, rehabilitation of Bakarh-Madihan Feeder Canal, and reconstruction of Birohiya Pickup Weir and restoration of Bharpura Rajbaha, benefitting 28,183 farmers in Lalitpur, Mahoba, Hamirpur, and Mirzapur, with an added 5,195 hectares of irrigation capacity.

PM Modi in Varanasi tomorrow, to launch 52 projects worth 2,183.45 cr
PM Narendra Modi will on Saturday visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 52 development projects worth Rs 2,183.45 crore, focusing on a boost to eastern UP development. The projects will be in key sectors such as road infrastructure, healthcare, education, sports, tourism and urban development. Initiatives include the construction and widening of roads, hospital upgrades, enhancement of educational institutions, improved drinking water and sanitation facilities, These will also boost development of sports infrastructure, establishment of a homeopathic college, construction of paved ghats for religious tourism, expansion of electricity and parking facilities, pond renovation and the setting up of libraries, animal hospitals and dog care centres, said a government statement. The PM will also release the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, transferring Rs 20,500 crore to the bank accounts of over 9.70 crore eligible farmers across the country. A public meeting is scheduled at Banauli (Kalika Dham) village in the Sevapuri Assembly constituency, where both Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will address the gathering. Preparations are underway and the venue has been divided into 20 blocks, each overseen by dedicated officers, the statement said. This is the PM's 51st visit to Kashi. He is expected to arrive at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport around 10 am, from where he will proceed to the public meeting venue by helicopter. BJP leaders, including Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will receive him at the airport. Extensive decorations are being put in place across Varanasi, including more than 1,000 hoardings, BJP flags and welcome arches at key locations.

Malegaon Blast Twist: Witness Milind Joshi Claims CBI Asked Him To Falsely Name Yogi Adityanath
New Delhi: A day after a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court acquitted all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, a fresh controversy has emerged. Milind Joshi, a key witness in the case, has come forward with serious allegations, claiming there was a deliberate attempt to politicise the investigation and fabricate evidence to arrest a senior RSS functionary. In a statement to Zee News, Joshi alleged that he was subjected to custodial torture and pressured to implicate senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders, including the current Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who at the time was only a Member of Parliament. "There was intense pressure to name Yogi Adityanath," Joshi claimed. "In 2008, he was not the prominent figure he is today, but there was still a clear effort to falsely link him and others to what was being framed as 'Hindu terrorism.' I was detained and tortured. "It was strange, some CBI officers from Delhi were questioning us, and they were extremely aggressive. I'm not sure if they had jurisdiction at the time, but they were certainly involved and used intimidating tactics," he said. "In 2008, Yogi Adityanath, this name was not as big as it is today. The court dropped all charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Arms Act, and sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The Malegaon blast took place on September 29, 2008, near Bhikku Chowk mosque in the Nashik district town of Malegaon. The explosion, caused by a bomb strapped to a motorcycle, occurred during the holy month of Ramzan and just days before Navratri. It killed six people and injured over 100 in the communally sensitive region. The investigation, initially handled by Maharashtra ATS, was transferred to the NIA in 2011. Over the course of the lengthy legal process, spanning nearly 17 years, more than 100,000 pages of documentation were presented. The trial saw 323 witnesses testify, though 34 of them turned hostile, significantly weakening the prosecution's case. The court, which concluded hearings in April and reserved its verdict on April 19, delivered the judgment in a packed courtroom. It also directed the government to pay Rs 2 lakh in compensation to the families of those killed and Rs 50,000 to each injured victim. Joshi's latest claims have sparked renewed debate about the integrity of the investigation and the possibility of political interference during the early stages of the case. Legal experts and political observers are now calling for a thorough examination of the witness's allegations.

Exploring ways to divide the crowd, the plan for widening Dalmandi was CM Yogi Adityanath's instruction issued to officials on July 17 to ensure execution of Dalmandi Road widening project and financial and administrative approval given by state cabinet on July 22 for easy access to Gate No. 4 of Kashi Vishwanath Dham from Naisadak, PWD started demarcation of 184 identified ₹215.88 crore project will finish demarcation in the 650-metre-long Dalmandi, a narrow street full of bottlenecks, to convert it into a 17.4-metre-wide developments caused worry to the Muslim-dominated commercial-cum-residential area of Dalmandi.
