The Bucket List Family gives five tips for traveling with kids
The Bucket List Family sold everything to travel around the world. Here are their tips for traveling with children.
Caribe Royale, a Walt Disney World Good Neighbor hotel, is gaining recognition for its exceptional cuisine.
Executive Chef David Hackett prioritizes fresh, local ingredients, sourcing from nearby farms and suppliers.
The hotel offers a range of dining options, from casual poolside fare to an upscale steakhouse and a new sports bar with interactive experiences.
The hotel you choose for your Disney World vacation is much more than a place to sleep. It'll be your home base – where you recharge, refuel, take the little ones back for naps, and quickly commute to and from the parks. So, it should offer everything you want, including good food.
My experience with many Disney-area hotels is that good food – like amazing 'I drool just thinking about it' food – has always been hard to find (unless you want to spend big buckaroos at a five-star resort). That was until I spent one night at Caribe Royale. This affordable Walt Disney World Good Neighbor hotel is cooking up something quite special. And this 'something' makes it among the best food I've ever eaten in Orlando.
'PARK' LIKE A PRO: 8 expert tips for navigating Disney World with preschoolers
So, what's the secret sauce? Complex Executive Chef David Hackett, who helms all the restaurants on site, blends freedom with skill and creativity. Since Caribe Royale is privately owned, he's not tied to a limited set of vendors like other hotel chains.
Ingredients are sourced from local farms, fishermen, and small ranches
Handpicking meat, produce, seafood, and other ingredients from his desired locations, Hackett upholds a standard that's hard for other area hotels to beat. Whether you're dining outside by the pool, in its upscale steakhouse, or at the hotel's new Stadium Club, an elevated sports bar and interactive experience, you can taste the quality in every dish.
When it comes to dessert, the same standard applies. Executive Pastry Chef Jessica Bingham has her kitchen make almost everything from scratch – from cakes and cookies to specialty candies and even popcorn. Ice cream, on the other hand, is sourced from an Orlando creamery and includes the hotel's signature flavor, Rum Cake Royale.
BANG FOR YOUR BUCK: 11 budget-friendly family vacations in the U.S. that really pack in the fun
The flavor is on point
With a colorful background that has included several years overseas, Hackett has cultivated global inspiration for the flavors he produces. At the Stadium Club, you aren't served your average tailgate-style foods. Asian-inspired wings (pre-roasted for the perfect bite), Stracciatella cheese pizza with whipped lemon ricotta, candied orange and rosemary bacon, and some of the best pork belly bao buns I've had in the United States are a few of its many dishes.
I feel assured about what is (and isn't) in the food
Unlike 'crunchy' moms, a term coined for those who live toxin-free and avoid processed foods, I strive for a natural family lifestyle but also believe that (almost) everything can be enjoyed in moderation – especially on vacation.
Indulging at Caribe Royale was guilt-free. You won't find most seed oils in the kitchen. Olive oil and fats like tallow and butter are preferred. Additionally, Hackett does not serve any plant-based foods due to their chemical content. To accommodate special dietary restrictions like vegan and gluten-free, the hotel gets creative with whole foods, even pickling their own vegetables.
FOOD ALLERGIES?: Here's how to plan, pack, and enjoy your vacation
Mouthwatering food aside, Caribe Royale earns major kudos for convenience, comfort, and fun
Being a Walt Disney World Good Neighbor hotel means Caribe Royale is close to the parks, and families can enjoy shuttle service to and from the parks and Disney Springs (included in the resort fee).
All-suite accommodations sleep up to five and were recently gutted down to the studs. Each one-bedroom suite has a living room separate from where you'll sleep thanks to a door – a gamechanger if you want to hang out after the kids go to sleep or if your kids have trouble sharing a room.
MAKE MEMORIES: The 10 best places in the U.S. to go with kids in 2025
Need a little more space? Two-bedroom villas, which are in the pipeline to be completely renovated, sleep up to six and have full kitchens, ensuite laundry spaces, and access to a private pool. Both the suites and villas include accessible options.
Families can spend downtime cooling off in the main swimming pool with a water slide. A small fenced-in area features a kiddie pool and shaded playground, and there's an arcade a few steps away.
More fun can be had catch-and-release fishing at the hotel's pier (equipment is free to rent), biking or walking along the surrounding trails (bikes are complimentary), or at the sports court. On weekends, families can gather by the pool for movies under the stars.
For something you won't find anywhere else, rent out a sports simulator suite at the Stadium Club. You and your kids can peruse more than 10 sports and games, like pro-level golf and zombie dodgeball. (Worth noting: Simulator settings can be personalized, including for those who use a wheelchair, for a truly interactive experience.)

Disney Plus Cancels Beloved Series After Two Seasons

Although Disney Plus offers a place for many new shows to call home, not all of them get to stay very long, and that's the case with one beloved series that only lasted two seasons on the platform. Sadly, two years after the first season of the series premiered on Disney Plus, the cancellation has been confirmed. Fans are bound to be disappointed as this series was based on a major IP that has appealed to several generations' worth of fans. The numbers for this Disney Plus series even confirmed that audiences were eager to enjoy a new interpretation of the material. For Disney, however, it looks like the series just didn't work out for the platform. Fortunately, there seems to be some hope that the series could find a new home as the studio behind it shops it to new outlets. As shared via Variety: 'According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, series producer Sony Pictures Television plans to shop the show to other outlets and explore different creative directions for the IP.' This IP is none other than Goosebumps , the Disney Plus series inspired by the hit books of the same name. R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series quickly became a worldwide sensation and spawned tons of merchandise and a completely separate live-action show in the 1990s. This was followed by two live-action movies later released by Sony Pictures in the 2010s, paving the way for the aforementioned Disney Plus series. The outlet confirms that the popularity of the books still surrounded the series, as it 'pulled in 75 million hours views combined in the U.S.' between the two seasons, with the Disney Plus show also having '43 million hours viewed across 16 international markets.' Each season of the series revolved around a different group of characters and stories inspired by the books, and it's possible that this change in concept just didn't work for Disney Plus. With Sony Pictures Television interested in keeping the Goosebumps television brand alive, however, we could see some kind of return in the future. Either way, Goosebumps as a whole is still going strong, with new books being published to this day. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Goosebumps as we have them. It'll be interesting to see if a new home is located for the series, though fans can still view the two existing seasons of the show on Disney Plus.

That 'lizard, lizard, lizard' stuck in your head? It's from a new Pixar movie

A mysterious cartoon lizard has become TikTok's latest rising star. The green reptile, standing in a pitch-black room with a somewhat dazed smile, is repeatedly smacking a small lizard icon on a glowing screen — each time triggering an automated voice saying 'lizard.' It comes from a post-credits scene in Disney's latest Pixar film 'Elio' which was released in June. The scene was a promotion for Pixar's upcoming release 'Hoppers,' which arrives in theaters next spring. But in recent weeks, the clip has turned into a viral meme, with the soundbite making its way into numerous musical remixes online. According to the meme database Know Your Meme, the teaser picked up traction after YouTuber The Pixar Nerd posted a video of it on June 20. One month later, on July 27, the TikTok account igreenscreenthings posted a user-made green-screen template featuring the lizard. The template has inspired more than 78,000 videos on TikTok, where people use it to represent spamming actions like skipping songs, annoying their friends or fast-forwarding through workplace compliance trainings. "My last brain cell trying to make it through the workday," wrote one TikToker in the text of their video using the meme. The lizard has also inspired an array of fan creations. One user made a T-shirt commemorating the meme, and another baked a lizard-inspired cake with a movable smacking arm. One TikTok creator has been gaining massive traction by making mashups of the lizard soundbite with various popular songs. A lizard mashup with the 2010 classic ' Like A G6 ' accrued more than 12 million views, and others set to hits like Eminem's ' Rap God,' Cardi B's ' WAP ' and AC/DC's ' Thunderstruck ' also got millions of views each. A performer at an EDM music festival in Denver last weekend even featured the lizard in their set onstage. Pixar's official social media accounts acknowledged the hype around the meme last week. Posting the clip to its platforms, the animation studio wrote: 'his name is Tom.' "See Tom in Disney & Pixar's #Hoppers, arriving in theaters March 6, 2026. 🦎" Pixar wrote in the caption. Tom isn't featured in the teaser trailer for the new movie, which follows a girl named Mabel as her consciousness is transferred into the body of a robotic beaver, which somehow enables her to communicate with other animals. NBC News has reached out to Pixar for comment. Though not much is known about Tom the lizard, many online still can't seem to get enough of him. Or, at the very least, can't get him out of their heads.

Freakier Friday Designer Recalls Finding Jamie Lee Curtis's Vintage Diane von Furstenberg Dress

©Walt Disney Co./Courtesy Everett Collection (2003) Spoilers ahead for Freakier Friday. Not only did Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan make a triumphant return to the Freaky Friday sequel more than 20 years later, but so did an iconic dress. And the costume crew behind Disney's Freakier Friday revealed that they had to work hard to dig up the vintage piece from the first film, but it was well worth it. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Freakier Friday costume designer Natalie O'Brien spoke about an ending moment in the 2025 sequel that includes Chad Michael Murray and a vintage Diane von Furstenberg dress. 'The vintage Diane von Furstenberg dress was a treasure hunt, as there are not many left out in the world,' O'Brien told EW. In case you haven't seen the 2003 film in a while, Lindsay Lohan's character Anna and her mom Tess, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, swap bodies. But when Anna finally has a day with her mom's credit card and car, she gives her mom a makeover — complete with a haircut, a piercing, and a Diane von Furstenberg outfit. The dress comes from the designer's Fall/Winter 2002-2003 collection, which debuted at New York Fashion Week in February 2002. The Dionise silk dress was a staple in the film, as we see this new Tess under Anna's influence, with the gown featuring beautiful hues of colors and patterns. The dress comes back at the very end of Freakier Friday when, in a funny callback moment, Chad Michael Murray's character Jake attends Anna's (Lohan) wedding with a date named Bess who looks shockingly similar to Tess (Curtis). And what is she wearing? The Diane von Furstenberg dress. *Freakier Friday* Star Sophia Hammons Got Crucial Advice From Lindsay Lohan: 'Prioritize Your Health' The 18-year-old actor tells all about how she helped bring the star-studded sequel to life. 'The one we used we found on eBay, and it was about six sizes too small, so we did a hodgepodge of additional panels to make sure it fit," O'Biren said of the dress. "I'm so glad to say it really felt like the original.' Murray's Jake initially fell in love with Tess when she was actually Anna, but the ending now leaves the question of who did Jake really love? 'My favorite part was seeing Jamie Lee's reaction when she saw [Bess] come out in it," O'Brien says. 'The dress wasn't actually written into the script; it was just something producer Kristin Burr, director Nisha Ganatra and I all discussed, and knew we wanted to make happen. I'm so glad it did!'
