EuroMillions players urged to check their tickets after jackpot unclaimed

Metro02-08-2025
A whopping £145 million remains unclaimed from Friday's EuroMillions after lottery operator Allwyn confirmed there were no jackpot winners.
The jackpot remains up for grabs for ticketholders who have yet to check their EuroMillions draw on Friday.
The winning prize has been rolled over to Tuesday's draw, which stands at an estimated £157,000,000.
EuroMillions players have been urged to check their tickets after Allwyn announced the National Lottery will shut down for 36 hours on Saturday and Sunday.
The outage is for good reason as the National Lottery will make way for the biggest technology upgrade in the game's 31-year history.
It means players will not be able to purchase tickets or check results in shops from 11pm on Saturday night following the Lotto and Thunderball draws until 'late Monday morning', operator Allwyn said.
Lottery winners have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their winnings.
The National Lottery EuroMillions winning numbers from Friday's draw were 04, 16, 25, 29, 30. The lucky stars were 02, 10
The estimated jackpot is £145 million
One UK millionaire has been created from the Millionaire Maker Selection with the code TGLL13138
To win, ticket holders need to match the five main EuroMillions numbers and the Lucky Stars
The National Lottery Thunderball Friday draw winning numbers were 02, 09, 20, 23, 27
The Thunderball was 13
Several lucky winners have claimed their prizes in recent weeks, including best friends Carly Wiggett and Becky Witt who put their faith in a horoscope to win £168,000 each.
The pair from Dartford, Kent, bought a EuroMillions ticket after Carly's mum, Tracy, read that a Pisces and Taurus would win the lottery if they entered together.
Other winners include a family from Cork, Ireland who won £216,000,000 and revealed they plan to stay in their home city, with no 'outrageous plans to spend the cash yet – except maybe a Rolex'.
However, other lucky winners have not been so fortunate after bagging their winnings, as assassination, abduction or substance abuse all form part of a curse following lottery winners.
History has countless examples of winners whose lives took a turn for the worse after scooping a large sum of money.
To win the full estimated £145,000,000 jackpot, winners must have five winning numbers, and the two EuroMillions Lucky Star numbers.
For Friday's draw, the winning main EuroMillions numbers are 04, 16, 25, 29, 30.
Meanwhile, the EuroMillions Lucky Star numbers are 02, 10.
Andy Carter, senior winners' advisor at Allwyn, said: 'How exciting – Tuesday night's (5 August) EuroMillions draw will be an amazing one, as an enormous £157M estimated jackpot is up for grabs. More Trending
'A single UK winner of this jaw-dropping prize would make National Lottery history, coming in at number seven on the list of the biggest National Lottery winners of all time, and it would also be the 20th win of over £100M since The National Lottery began.'
Money that remains unclaimed after the deadline goes to the National Lottery's Good Causes fund, which supports projects across the country covering a range of sectors including arts, sports and local community groups.
Every week, more than £30 million raised from ticket sales goes into the fund.

One lucky ticket holder could take home a life-changing £210million in EuroMillions jackpot - making them the UK's biggest lottery winner

One ticket holder could become the winner of a record-breaking amount of money on Tuesday. The next EuroMillions jackpot could rise to £210 million, which would become the highest prize ever won in the UK. If there are no winners on Tuesday, it will now stay at 250 million Euros for a further four draws until it must be won in the fifth draw. In the 'Must Be Won' draw, if no ticket matches all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars, the jackpot prize will roll down into the prize tier where there is at least one winner - likely to be five main numbers and one Lucky Star. A single UK winner would instantly become the nation's largest-ever National Lottery winner. They would knock into second place the anonymous winner of a £195 million prize in 2022. It would also make the winner twice as rich as Sir Andy Murray on £100million, leave £75million England captain Harry Kane in the dust and just head off Anthony Joshua with his £195million fortune. It follows an Irish family syndicate claiming a EuroMillions jackpot worth 250 million euros (£216 million) on June 17. The jackpot had reached the maximum amount on June 6 after rolling over several times. This historic Irish win surpassesd the previous EuroMillions record of £195million, which was won by a UK ticket-holder in July 2022. The winning ticket was sold in a retailer in Munster, County Cork, the Irish National Lottery said. The winning numbers from the draw were 13, 22, 23, 44, 49 and Lucky Stars 3 and 5. Under Irish National Lottery rules, jackpot winners can choose to remain anonymous. 'We are absolutely thrilled to have heard from our EuroMillions winner,' Irish National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan said. 'At this point, our priority is to give them the necessary time and space to make arrangements and let this life-changing news sink in.' Andy Carter, senior winners' advisor at Allwyn, said: 'Tuesday's jackpot has the ability to transform not just the winner's life, but the life of the friends and family around them. 'So, make sure you get a ticket to be in with a chance of banking Britain's biggest ever win.' Players should get their EuroMillions tickets - either in store or online - before 7.30pm on Tuesday. An unknown UK ticket-holder was handed the country's record for a EuroMillions jackpot of £195million on July 19 2022. That was even more than the prize landed by Joe and Jess Thwaite, from Gloucester, when they scooped a then-peak £184,262,899 with a Lucky Dip ticket for the National Lottery draw on May 10 that same year. Mr Thwaite, a communications sales engineer, told how his wife who ran a hairdressing salon was asleep when he noticed the winning numbers on the National Lottery app - and he opted not to wake her while browsing for potential new homes. And last December it was revealed a British participant had become the country's third biggest National Lottery winner of all time after hitting a jackpot worth £177million. The single ticket-holder, who chose to stay anonymous, came forward to claim the EuroMillions jackpot after the draw on Tuesday November 26. Among the big winners who did agree to go public with their good fortune were Colin and Chris Weir, from Ayrshire, who were handed £161million in 2011. Colin died aged 71 eight years later after getting through just half of his jackpot, with most of it having been shared between family, friends, and charities. The EuroMillions draw is a biweekly lottery in which members of the public in the UK and eight other European countries participate - with draws held on Tuesday and Friday evenings.

UK's biggest ever EuroMillions jackpot of £210,000,000 up for grabs on Tuesday

A huge EuroMillions prize has been rolled over to £210million after no one won last night's jackpot. Nobody successfully matched all seven of their numbers to claim last night's huge £201million jackpot. The EuroMillions winning numbers drawn on Friday were 13, 30, 35, 36, 40, as well as Lucky Star numbers two and six. The Thunderball numbers were 7, 19, 25, 35, 37 and the Thunderball was two. Tuesday's huge jackpot would make for a record National Lottery win if claimed by a single person, the competition has confirmed. All lottery winners have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their winnings. Recent winners include dearest friends Carly Wiggett and Becky Witt who used a horoscope to win £168,000 each. A family from Cork, Ireland who won £216,000,000 and revealed they plan to stay in their home city, with no 'outrageous plans to spend the cash yet – except maybe a Rolex'. More Trending But not all big winners have had a fairytale ending, with some falling victim to assassination, abduction, substance abuse and, somewhat ironically, financial trouble. The numbers of millionaire winners whose lives have taken a turn for the worse have led some to dub it a curse. To win the next week's unprecedented estimated jackpot, entrants must have five winning numbers, as well as two EuroMillions Lucky Star numbers. For the Thunderball, players need to match all five main numbers plus the Thunderball. Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@ For more stories like this, check our news page.
