Deputies located Weathers' red Chevy Blazer in the 800 block of Kellogg Mill Road, where crews boxed him in once he turned onto the driveway of a home.
There, Weathers got out of his SUV and attempted to run into the nearby woods before deputies detained him.
Deputies say suspected controlled substances were found on his person and in plain sight inside his SUV.
Weathers was served on his outstanding warrants while possession of controlled substances charges are pending.
He is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Trial begins for Maryland man accused of dismembering second-grade teacher

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (DC News Now) – Tuesday, in Prince George's County, opening arguments began in the trial of Harold Landon III, a Maryland man accused of murdering and dismembering second-grade teacher Mariame Torre Sylla in 2023. Sylla went for an evening walk in a park near her apartment before disappearing in late July. Searches went on for the teacher until her body was later found dismembered near a pond in Clinton. Prince George's County Police worked with Greenbelt Police to discover a torso at a pond in Clinton. A test later found that the torso was Sylla's. PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Charging documents outline disturbing details of murder of beloved Greenbelt teacher Police then used witnesses and surveillance in the area to find a white Chevy Silverado in the area around the time the body was discarded. That truck belonged to Landon, who also lived in the same neighborhood and was, according to the prosecution, seen at the same park where Sylla was last seen. In the opening statements, State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy described Sylla as a loving teacher and mother. Prosecutors brought in witness testimony and pictures of the scene, including photos of the dismemberment. State prosecutors also say they have video and DNA evidence linking Landon and Sylla, but Landon's defense says the state won't provide a motive. Sylla taught at Dora Kennedy French Immersion School, a community that is hoping for justice for their beloved teacher. 'Terrible,' said parent Noura Estatie. 'Teachers, they take care of our kids…I hope you know, her family gets [the] justice that they seek.' The trial is expected to go into next week. This case marks Braveboy's last trial as state attorney before she transitions to county executive. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Man arrested in two possible hate crimes against LGBTQ+ community in DC, police say

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A man is facing charges after reportedly destroying and defacing property in two separate incidents, including removing rainbow decorations from light poles near Dupont Circle and spraying graffiti, police announced Tuesday. The incidents are being investigated as possible hate crimes. On June 2, around 7:40 p.m., D.C. police responded to the report of destruction of property at Dupont Circle. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Michael Isaiah Webb Jr., reportedly destroyed rainbow colored cloth that was wrapped around light poles and left the scene before officers arrived. PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Man seen tearing down Dupont Circle Pride decorations; DC police investigating In a video obtained by DC News Now, a man was caught on video that same day tearing down the rainbow decorations. Police wouldn't confirm whether the individual in the video was the same suspect they arrested. The following day, a similar incident occurred at Dupont Circle with a different suspect tearing down rainbow decorations around the light poles. RELATED COVERAGE: Man attacked for protecting Pride decorations in Dupont Circle On June 4, just before 8 a.m., officers responded to the report of a disorderly person in the 600 block of Maine Avenue SW. Webb reportedly spray-painted vulgar words targeting the LGBTQ+ community, police said. According to an incident report, the suspect spray painted in red 'F*** LGBT ABC!' Right next to the phrase, 'God is Real,' was written in similar paint and design. Webb was finally identified through video and photos from both offenses. On Sunday, June 8, police saw Webb in Navy Yard and arrested him without incident. He was charged with destruction of property and defacing private property. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. MCPD's Summer Traffic Task Force targets impaired drivers

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — On Saturday, May 31, there was a fatal collision at the intersection of Sam Eig Highway and Fields Road. Officials with the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) say it was caused by a suspected drunk driver. Ten days before the deadly accident, police launched a Summer Traffic Task Force initiative to try to prevent tragedies like this from happening this summer. 'We're in graduation season,' Captain Warren Jensen, leader of MCPD's Traffic Operations Division, said, 'Memorial Day, Fourth of July, summer parties, post-prom, things like that; so we decided it was a good idea to go ahead and step up our enforcement.' PHOTOS: Black bear travels to Herndon after traversing Maryland Jensen said last year's alarming impaired driving fatal collision numbers led them to implement this traffic enforcement initiative. 'Fifty-five percent of all of our fatal collisions involved some sort of substance, and obviously, that's a completely unacceptable number,' he said. Jensen says this is the department's first time doing a traffic enforcement initiative in the summer. 'We've ended up with about 15 officers on average,' he said. 'Sometimes it's 20, depending on staffing.' That number includes officers from other agencies — including the Gaithersburg Police Department, Park Police, Maryland Transportation Authority, Rockville Police and Maryland State Police, Jensen said. MCPD says the two-car collision on May 31 at the intersection of Sam Eig Highway and Fields Road left an 88-year-old woman seriously injured. She later died. Police say the 18-year-old who ran into her is believed to have been impaired at the time. 'The case is still in its infancy,' Jensen said, 'so they're not ready to speak about exactly all the details yet. It's obviously a tragic situation, and alcohol is absolutely suspected.' Losing a loved one in a fatal collision is a pain Richard Leotta knows all too well. His son, Noah, was an MCPD officer who worked in the traffic division until 2015 when he was struck and killed by an impaired driver. 'Hopefully with the enhanced enforcement,' Leotta said, 'people will recognize to think twice and plan ahead, so they can get a safe and sober ride home.' Jensen says the Summer Traffic Task Force Enforcement initiative will go until the end of July. So far, they've made 33 DUI arrests and issued nearly 300 citations. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
