Sharjah Chamber visits Suwaidi Pearl Farm
Sharjah: The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting pioneering and innovative national projects that aim to revive and promote authentic Emirati heritage while contributing to the diversification of Sharjah's and the UAE's economic base.
The Chamber underscored the importance of spotlighting these initiatives that not only celebrate the UAE's rich cultural legacy but also reinforce the country's growing reputation as a leading destination for sustainable eco-tourism built upon its distinctive cultural and natural foundations.
These statements were made during a visit by H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, alongside a group of the Chamber's board members and H.E Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, to the Suwaidi Pearl Farm in Ras Al Khaimah, specifically in Al Rams area.
Founded in 2005 by Abdullah Rashid Al Suwaidi, the "Suwaidi Pearls" is the first pearl production farm in the Arabian Gulf. It was established with an aim to revive the legacy and rich history of Arabian pearl diving and highlight its historical, cultural, and economic value.
During the tour, the Sharjah Chamber delegation was briefed by Abdullah Rashid Al Suwaidi, Suwaidi Pearls Founder, on the scientific and environmentally sustainable techniques used in pearl cultivation.
The farm uses solar energy to power its facilities, playing a vital role in preserving biodiversity in the area while maintaining its marine ecosystems. Natural oyster farming methods are also employed to ensure sustainability.
In his remarks, H.E Abdallah Sultan Al Owais praised the initiative to establish and develop the Suwaidi Pearl Farm for its role in safeguarding a heritage craft deeply rooted in the UAE's history. He affirmed the importance of supporting initiatives of such cultural, economic, and tourism significance.
He noted that the Sharjah Chamber delegation's visit falls within its strategic framework to enhance cooperation with sustainable national ventures that integrate heritage and tradition with innovation and modern sustainable development. This direction is further reinforced through SCCI's sponsorship and continued support of Sharjah's portfolio of specialized jewelry and gemstone exhibitions.
For his part, Abdullah Rashid Al Suwaidi said that the Sharjah Chamber's visit represents valuable support for the Suwaidi Pearl Farm, a leading model in this field—being the only one of its kind in the region and worldwide where oysters are naturally propagated and cultivated.
He added that Suwaidi Pearls is honored to take part in the Jewels of Emirates Show, organized and hosted by Expo Centre Sharjah with support from the Sharjah Chamber, and to recently launch the 'Rare Natural Pearls' Exhibition'.
The Suwaidi Pearl Farm also participated in a seminar that explored the UAE's historical role and longstanding legacy in pearl production and documented the rich potential of its coasts in supplying the world with premium-quality pearls, while also spotlighting the traditional pearl-diving industry as an integral element of the UAE's rich heritage.

UAE and Bahrain to boost trade, economic, investment relations
The Bahrain-UAE Business Forum kicked off on Friday in the Bahraini capital, Manama, with the participation of senior officials from both countries, along with representatives of leading Emirati and Bahraini companies. Dr. Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, led a high-level UAE delegation to participate in the forum. The forum comes as strategic relations between the two countries grow from strength to strength, particularly in areas relating to economic, trade and investment relations. Discussions focused on increasing cooperation between the two nations in economic sectors of mutual benefit, including finance, water security, tourism, logistics and energy. In a keynote address, Al Zeyoudi stressed that relations between the two countries are witnessing continuous growth along their path to reach a solid and sustainable strategic partnerships in various fields. Al Zeyoudi stated, 'These positive developments in our strategic partnership are being driven by the forward-looking vision and common will of the leadership of both nations, who seek to boost our relations to new heights in order to achieve the common development aspirations of both our peoples. They are also boosted by positive meetings between President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain.' Al Zeyoudi also reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to building strong regional trade and investment relationships, with Bahrain a key partner in these efforts. He highlighted the deepening and historic economic ties between the two nations, achieved through bilateral and multilateral deals, including the Industrial Integration Partnership for sustainable economic development. Al Zeyoudi restated the mutual vision of securing supply chains, integrating value-added industries into their economies and diversifying their manufacturing base to create jobs. Al Zeyoudi noted that trade and investment relations between the UAE and Bahrain have grown strongly in recent years. Bilateral non-oil trade reached Dhs33.9 billion in 2024, an increase of 23 per cent when compared to 2023. Overall, between 2015 and 2024, UAE-Bahrain trade has increased by an average of 11 per cent per year, the fastest of any of the UAE's Gulf partners, with whom the average growth rate was 8 per cent. Overall, the UAE is Bahrain's second-largest trading partner globally, comprising 10.4 per cent of its total worldwide trade. In turn, Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressed that the forum reflects the depth of relations and strategic integration between Bahrain and the UAE and represents a new milestone in their partnership. During his opening speech at the forum, Fakhro welcomed Al Zeyoudi and his accompanying delegation, praising their visit to Bahrain and their participation in the forum, which confirms a mutual keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation in various economic sectors. Fakhro explained that the forum is being held at an important time, and embodies the common conviction that economic integration is not only achieved through the exchange of goods and investments, but also through the activation of agreements and memorandums of understanding signed between the two countries, allowing the private sector opportunities to expand and access new markets. Fakhro pointed to the importance of the recent memorandum of understanding on integration in the National Added Value (ICV) programmes, which allows products manufactured in either country to be treated as national products in the other country, helping to strengthen local industries and increase opportunities for preference in government procurement. Fakhro also announced the inauguration of the Emirates Investor Centre at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, as agreed as part of a memorandum of understanding concluded between the two sides. He stressed that the centre will provide facilities and services to Emirati investors. Fakhro expressed his thanks and appreciation to all participants and organisers, reiterating his hope that the forum will contribute to pushing the economic relations between Bahrain and the UAE towards further progress and prosperity. The Bahrain-UAE Business Forum included several panel discussions and presentations, with the participation of a group of senior officials and business leaders from both sides, including a session entitled 'Competitive Investment Environment for Entrepreneurs and Investors in Bahrain and the UAE', and another session entitled 'Growth Gateways - Prospects for Cooperation in Free Zones'. EPA expands global footprint with strategic Latin American Engs.
These strategic participations reflect the capacity of the UAE's publishing industry to build cultural bridges with the world. They also reaffirm the Association's commitment to opening new horizons for Emirati publishers to exchange expertise with their counterparts across continents and to forge promising connections with one of South America's most important publishing markets. Rio Reads... and the UAE Takes Part June 2025 marks an intensive programme of activities by the Association in Brazil. Its delegation is taking part in four of the country's most prominent publishing-related events in Rio de Janeiro, including the Rio International Book Fair (13–22 June)—the largest and most influential public literary event in Brazil and Latin America. The delegation is also participating in the 6th Professional Journey, the Rio International Publishers Summit, and the PublisHer Summit, which is dedicated to empowering women in publishing leadership. This participation takes place during a year when UNESCO has named Rio as the 'World's Book Capital', under the theme 'Rio de Janeiro Continues to Read.' Professional Platforms and Strategic Engagements During the 6th Professional Journey, organised by the Brazilian Book Chamber, the Emirates Publishers Association—represented by publisher Amira BuKdara, co-founder of Ghaf Publishing and Library and President of the Association's Board—will participate in an exclusive meeting. Buenos Aires: A Successful Visit The Association's presence in Rio follows a successful visit to the Buenos Aires International Book Fair 2025, held from 22 April to 12 May, where Riyadh was the Guest of Honour for this edition. During the visit, the Association's delegation held a series of strategic meetings with key stakeholders in Argentina's publishing and cultural sectors. These included talks with the Fair's Board of Directors, representatives of publishing associations, and officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture in Buenos Aires. The meetings explored avenues for enhancing bilateral cultural cooperation and increasing mutual participation in international fairs and initiatives. AROYA Cruises sets sail for the Mediterranean
Post Views: 34 AROYA Cruises began its journey to the Mediterranean ahead of the launch of its inaugural Mediterranean season on 28th June. The ship is scheduled to arrive in Galataport Istanbul, AROYA's Mediterranean homeport, on 20th June via the popular Turkish coastal towns of Kaş and Bodrum. She will then undergo routine maintenance ahead of the first commercial sailing a week later. Until mid-September, AROYA will explore the wonders of the Eastern Med with six and seven-night voyages to ports in Turkey, Greece and Egypt, blending iconic destinations with the cruise line's Arabian inspired experience. In addition to Kaş and Bodrum, AROYA will sail to Marmaris in Turkey as well as Athens, Mykonos, Rhodes and Souda Bay in Greece, and Alexandria in northern Egypt. Since its maiden voyage in December 2024, AROYA Cruises has completed a successful inaugural season in the Red Sea, welcoming more than 70,000 passengers aboard sailings that visited Egypt, Jordan and the Saudi Red Sea private island of Jabal AlSabaya for Saba Beach. The move to the Mediterranean marks a strategic next chapter for the AROYA Cruises as it expands its itineraries and brings a taste of Arabian culture and hospitality to Europe.
