The first weekend of Coachella made all of our sapphic dreams come true, with queer women taking over the iconic music festival.
After last year when Reneé Rapp was introduced by the cast of The L Word and performed with her girlfriend Towa Bird in front of a giant pair of scissors, we didn't think Coachella could get any more lesbian coded, but then we saw Weekend One's performances.
Billie Eilish was a surprise guest star during Charlie XCX's set, Lady Gaga gagged everyone with her performance and epic costume changes, plus Maren Morris, Clairo, Hope Tala, South African DJ Desiree, Underscores, Beabadobee, Amyl & The Sniffers, and Coco & Breezy all performed too.
But there were a few moments from this past weekend that were so queer they deserved a standing ovation.for Coachella
First up is the moment that is breaking sapphic online, everywhere. Megan thee Stallion and Victoria Monét's hopped on stage together for the hottest performance of the festival and the year — and maybe even the decade.for Coachella
The two performed a wicked hot rendition of their hit song 'Spin' ....for Coachella
And then brought the house down with the anthem 'On My Mama.' Yes, mama! We may never recover.

We can't get enough of their on-stage chemistry!for Coachella
Both lead singer Leandra Earl and guitarist Jordan Miller for The Beaches are queer, but it's Earl's hot masc energy on stage that turned our heads.for Coachella
The combo of leather pants, Doc Martens, slicked back hair, and visible tattoos are doing something for us. Plus, she clearly knows how to stroke those chords…

If you weren't already in love with this butch singer, peep her in a black bikini top, abs for days, and boxers peeking out above the low-slung baggy shorts. We're fans!

As if that wasn't enough sapphic domination, they were joined on stage by nonbinary singer G-Flip for "Last Girls at the Party."

After last year's years scissoring reference, it was hard to picture what stage prop could rival that level of sapphic-ness, but bisexual Japanese Breakfast front woman Michelle Zauner dancing inside of a giant clam is just about the most lesbian thing ever.

Zauner also looked effortless cool in her exaggerated white button down, beaded crown, and sexy black boots.for Coachella
We stan a bisexual queen who lead a band and play an guitar like that!

Addison Rae's New Hit Single Brings Several Other Recent Wins With It
Addison Rae scores her fifth U.K. hit as 'Fame Is a Gun' debuts at No. 27 on the Official Singles ... More chart, while "Headphones On" rises and "Diet Pepsi" returns. INDIO, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 13: (FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Addison Rae performs with Arca at the Gobi Tent during the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at Empire Polo Club on April 13, 2025 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Coachella) Throughout her relatively short music career, Addison Rae has only released a handful of singles. The TikTok star appears poised for a sizable debut on a number of charts with her just-released self-titled full-length, which is expected to arrive on rankings everywhere soon. In the United Kingdom, where she has already racked up a number of wins, three of her singles have managed to chart, and each takes a different path to landing on various tallies. This week, Rae earns a new victory as 'Fame Is a Gun,' the fifth official single from Addison, debuts at No. 27 on the Official Singles chart. The new track becomes yet another top 40 success for the social media superstar right out of the gate, and just before that self-titled full-length debuts as well. While pure purchases surely contributed to the tune's quick adoption, it seems that streaming platforms carried most of the weight. 'Fame Is a Gun' manages to land on only one other ranking in the U.K. at the moment, as it hits the Official Streaming chart, opening at No. 61. 'Fame Is a Gun' marks Rae's fifth hit on the Official Singles chart. Each of the tunes released from Addison prior to the album's arrival have spent at least one frame on the list. However, only four of her songs have reached the Official Streaming chart. Rae currently fills two spots on the Official Singles chart. Her previous release, 'Headphones On,' also from Addison, lifts slightly this week. The cut steps up from No. 67 to No. 65 in its seventh frame on the tally. The track previously peaked at No. 24 and stands as her second-highest-charting hit on the all-encompassing list of the most consumed songs in the U.K. The promotional campaign around Addison began last summer when the budding singer dropped 'Diet Pepsi.' That track became a breakout success for her in many respects, granting Rae her debut top 10 win on the main singles tally across the Atlantic. Perhaps buoyed by the excitement surrounding the album's release, 'Diet Pepsi' returns to the Official Physical Singles chart this week. The song reenters at No. 39, becoming a top 40 bestseller again. In the past, the track has risen as high as No. 3.

Brooklyn Beckham Knew He Wanted to Marry Nicola Peltz-Beckham After Three Months of Dating
Brooklyn Beckham was confident that Nicola Peltz was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with early on in their relationship. The A-list couple sat down for an interview with Glamour Germany — translated from German to English — published on Monday, June 2, and discussed their whirlwind romance. Brooklyn, 26, revealed that he would have liked to propose to his sweetheart even sooner than he did. 'We got engaged after six months. But Brooklyn had the ring months earlier,' Nicola, 30, told the outlet. 'I knew after three months that I wanted to marry her,' Brooklyn admitted. 'But because of COVID, I wanted to wait until our families could be there.' Nicola detailed the proposal, which took place in July 2020, telling the publication it came as a surprise to her. 'Brooklyn had secretly planned everything. I thought he was just organizing a date. Since it was just him and my mom, I had no idea. In reality, my brothers, sister and dad had secretly flown in and were hiding,' she explained. 'After the proposal, everyone arrived in golf carts. I cried so much that my face swelled up. I could barely take a picture, and I didn't really see the ring until later.' Nicola also said that she felt an instant connection herself when she first met Brooklyn at the Coachella music festival in April 2017, despite both of them being in separate relationships. 'Our encounter was brief, but special. I had a boyfriend, Brooklyn a girlfriend, but I immediately felt his charm,' Nicola recalled. 'He took a few photos of me and stayed in my heart long before we really knew each other.' The pair tied the knot at Nicolas' family's Palm Beach estate in April 2022, and Brooklyn recounted how he shed tears on the big day after seeing his bride-to-be. 'I'm usually relaxed, but on this day, even I was nervous. I had to wait 10 minutes for Nicola — it felt like an eternity! But when she finally arrived, everything was forgotten, and I cried, too,' he confessed. 'One of my fondest memories remains the short car ride after the ceremony — just the two of us, taking a moment to breathe and savor the moment.'

The Farewell Tour may be over, but Paul Simon is taking the stage again
'I love you!' someone shouted from the back of the orchestra seating. 'I love you more!' another fan responded. Simon's 'quiet celebration' was aptly named in more ways than one. He opened with a complete, 33-minute run-through of the 'Seven Psalms' record, with hushed, pristine songs that reckoned with age, spirituality, and meaning. Black and white title cards displayed the names of each song in the movement. At one point a sound like the sanctus bells of the Catholic church glistened. Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up 'Are we all just trial and error?' Simon sang on 'Sacred Harp.' At this point in his life, his voice is wispy, yet it's still somehow boyish. On Tuesday, he hit all the notes he reached for. Advertisement Paul Simon performs at the Boch Center Wang Theatre. Ben Stas for The Boston Globe/The Boston Globe If Simon's opening appearance with Advertisement The band featured several multi-instrumentalists, adding flute, cello, various percussive effects and more to the arrangements. Guitarists Mark Stewart and Gyan Riley embellished on Simon's foundations. After a brief intermission, the band returned with two more members, including the South African bassist Bakithi Kumalo, who played on Simon's groundbreaking 'Graceland' album (1986). The title track kicked off the second set, with Simon's voice decidedly forward in the mix. Later, the band played that album's 'Under African Skies' (dedicated to Joseph Shabalala, the founder of That song featured a special guest appearance from the singer Edie Brickell, Simon's wife. 'She'll undoubtedly vastly improve the performance,' he said by way of introduction. Some fans who showed up hoping to hear the greatest hits of Simon & Garfunkel may have left quietly disappointed, but for anyone attuned to Simon's long solo career, the show was a small miracle of precision and fidelity. On 'Slip Slidin' Away' (the lyrics of which – 'the nearer your destination…' – seemed especially poignant), the drum brushes were distinctly audible. The set included a couple of songs from 'The Rhythm of the Saints' (1990) the Brazil-centered follow-up to 'Graceland,' and several 'deep cuts,' as Simon said. Three were from his 1983 album 'Hearts and Bones,' including 'Rene and Georgette Magritte With Their Dog After the War' ('This will be my first Surrealist Number One Hit,' he recalled joking to himself) and 'The Late Great Johnny Ace.' The latter ended with a photographic triptych of the icons that inspired it – John Lennon, JFK, and the tragic singer named in the title. Advertisement Midway through, Simon teased the crowd with the familiar guitar motifs he wrote for several Simon & Garfunkel songs, such as 'I Am a Rock,' before actually leading the band into a thoroughly reinvented version of 'Homeward Bound,' set to a shuffling beat. The band went out on a high note with the festive 'Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard,' punctuated by the 'laughing' sound of the Brazilian cuica and Brickell materializing onstage to nail the whistling part. After carrying off the flowers he accepted from a fan in the front row, Simon returned to lead the musicians on a lightly jazzy/funky '50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,' so very much of its 1975 vintage, and a vaguely Mexican-flavored version of 'The Boxer,' which featured a wonderful solo from Riley (son of the minimalist composer Terry Riley).' On that song's 'lie-la-lie' melody, the audience heartily joined in. Then Simon wrapped up the evening with a solo rendition of 'The Sound of Silence.' 'And the vision that was planted in my brain,' he sang softly, 'still remains.' PAUL SIMON At the Wang Theatre, June 10 James Sullivan can be reached at .
