Birmingham: Man struck by car in hit-and-run dies
A man has died after being struck in a hit-and-run car crash in Birmingham.The incident happened on Audley Road, Stechford, at about 21:10 GMT on Sunday. West Midlands Police said the victim had treatment at the scene, but, despite the best efforts of paramedics, he died.A spokesperson added the driver failed to stop, and enquiries were ongoing to trace them.
Det Sgt Rich Evans from the serious collision investigation team said he would urge the driver "to do the right thing and hand themselves in".He also appealed for witnesses and anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from around the area to come forward.Audley Road, Flaxley Road and Iron Lane would remain shut for most of the morning, the force said.Bus company National Express West Midlands said the number 14 service would be diverted in both directions via Station Road, Manor Road and Church Lane during the closure.It apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Wolverhampton witness appeal after crash assault
Police are appealing for witnesses after a driver was reportedly assaulted following a crash in said a grey VW Golf and a man riding a black mountain bike collided on Clifford Street, in Whitmore Reans, at about 16:20 BST on the incident, it was the understood the cyclist approached the car and "assaulted the driver", West Midlands Police men then left the scene, with the cyclist heading in the direction of Albert Road and the driver leaving in a second vehicle. Girl, 13, seriously injured in crash near Coventry school
A 13-year-old girl has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Midlands Police was called to Radford Road near Barrs Hill School at about 08:10 BST. The force said the driver had been spoken to by officers at the scene and was helping the crash happened on the same road where 12-year-old Keaton Slater was killed in a hit-and-run a year ago. Birmingham shooting saw passer-by used as 'human shield'
A man has been jailed after firing a gun during disorder in Birmingham last year – which saw his apparent target use a passer-by as a "human shield", police have Midlands Police released CCTV, which officers said showed Kye Lemathy "recklessly shooting his gun, despite pedestrians walking by", in Aston on 12 one point, the man he appeared to have been shooting at held a passer-by as a "human shield" to prevent Lemathy firing again, officers 21-year-old, from Holte Road, Perry Barr, had admitted possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life at Birmingham Crown Court and was jailed for nine years and nine months on 3 June.
