"We have to take all threats against any incursion into our territory seriously. I will speak to the Minister of Defence and the Attorney General to seek advice on protections for our Coast Guard to use deadly force on any unidentified vessel entering T&T waters from Venezuela," Kamla Persad-Bissessar told reporters.
The leader of the small English-speaking archipelago off the coast of Venezuela also urged migrants from that country to leave.
On Wednesday, Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello announced the arrest of a Trinidadian "mercenary," whom he accused of being part of a group of "terrorists" seeking to enter Venezuela.
He did not provide further details.
That came after Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday said the group had entered Venezuela from Trinidad and Tobago with a load of "weapons of war."
The Venezuelan government regularly denounces imaginary or real plots.
Persad-Bissessar rejected any Trinidadian involvement, decrying Cabello's comments as "threats."
At the same time, Persad-Bissessar, who was sworn in as prime minister last month on a promise to prioritize security, stressed the need to address rising crime in Trinidad and Tobago.
A total of 623 murders were recorded last year - up from 577 in 2023 - some of them blamed on Latin America-based criminal gangs like Tren de Aragua from Venezuela.
"I warned you all before the elections... yet crime involving Venezuelans continues to increase."
"I am advising Venezuelan migrants who are here to please begin returning to your country," she said.

NIA files chargesheet against Goldy Brar, four others in Gurugram club blasts case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against five persons, including Canada-based designated 'terrorist' Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, in connection with the 2024 twin bomb attacks at clubs in Gurugram, Haryana. The others named in the chargesheet are Sachin Taliyan, Ankit, Bhawish, and U.S.-based Randeep Singh alias Randeep Malik. The NIA has invoked provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Arms Act, the Explosive Substances Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. 'Barring Goldy Brar and Randeep Malik, all others have been arrested in the case,' the agency stated. The NIA said its probe had found the accused to be involved in the conspiracy to bomb the Warehouse Club and the Human Club, both located in Sector 29, Gurugram. The attacks were allegedly part of a broader plan by the proscribed terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) to 'spread communal disharmony and disrupt peace' in Haryana and neighbouring regions by unleashing violence. 'The attack, perpetrated by members and cadres of the proscribed BKI terror outfit, took place on December 10, 2024. NIA investigations later revealed that the deep-rooted terror conspiracy was hatched by Goldy Brar and his associates...,' the agency alleged in its statement. According to the NIA, the group forms part of a 'terror syndicate' that is actively engaged in extortion, raising funds for terror activities, procuring arms, ammunition and explosives, and 'promoting terror amongst the common people to threaten the integrity, security (including economic security), and sovereignty of the country.'
