PM Modi gifts hand-etched silver lion to Argentine President, silver replica of Ram Temple to T&T PM
New Delhi, July 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is known to gift taste-fully chosen hand-crafted artefacts from different parts of India to world leaders during his meetings with them, has gifted a hand-etched silver lion to the President of Argentine Javier Milei and a silver replica of the Ayodhya Ram Temple to the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar, during his recent visits to the countries. During his meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei in Buenos Aires on July 5, the PM gifted the Argentine leader a 'Hand-etched Silver Lion on a Fuchsite Stone Base' from Rajasthan. The hand-etched silver lion is a striking example of Rajasthan's renowned metalwork and gemstone artistry. The intricately detailed silver lion symbolizes courage and leadership, while the Fuchsite base—known as the 'Stone of Healing and Resilience'—adds natural beauty and meaning. Crafted by skilled Rajasthani artisans using silver and Fuchsite sourced from India's mineral-rich regions, this piece beautifully embodies the country's rich artistic and geological heritage. To the Vice President of Argentina Victoria Villarruel, he gifted her a Madhubani painting of the Sun. This Madhubani painting showcases one of India's oldest folk art traditions from the Mithila region of Bihar. Renowned for bold lines, intricate patterns, and natural colours, Madhubani art traditionally adorned walls during festivals to bring prosperity and ward off negativity. This piece highlights the Sun, a symbol of energy and life, surrounded by detailed floral borders and motifs that fill every space—a hallmark of the style. Rooted in cultural heritage and meticulous craftsmanship, it is both a decorative piece and a vibrant tribute to India's enduring folk artistry. His gift to the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar, on July 4 during their meeting in Port of Spain, comprised a Kalash with Sacred water from River Saryu and a Silver Replica of the Ayodhya Ram temple. The Kalash, filled with the sacred waters of the River Sarayu, is a revered symbol of purity, blessings, and spiritual grace. The Sarayu, flowing through Ayodhya — the birthplace of Lord Ram — holds deep significance in Hindu tradition, believed to absolve sins and bring peace and prosperity. Crafted in metal, the Kalash embodies abundance and sanctity, making it an auspicious offering or gift that invokes divine protection, health, and spiritual well-being. It connects the giver and receiver to Ayodhya's timeless legacy of Dharma, devotion, and liberation. The Silver Replica of the Ayodhya Ram temple is a finely handcrafted tribute to one of India's most sacred spiritual sites. Made by skilled artisans from Uttar Pradesh, it captures the grandeur and intricate architecture of the Shri Ram Temple — symbolising dharma, righteousness, and divine blessings. Cast entirely in pure silver, the miniature temple embodies purity, devotion, and cultural pride. Ideal for worship spaces, homes, or as a meaningful gift, it reflects Uttar Pradesh's rich heritage of temple art and metalwork. The silver piece is a timeless keepsake that honours Ayodhya's spiritual legacy and India's sacred traditions. UNI XC RN

PM Modi lauds Bihar's legacy among Indian diaspora in Trinidad & Tobago
Bihar's deep connection with the people who migrated and have now settled as citizens in Trinidad and Tobago featured prominently in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the Indian community there. Notably, this comes ahead of Bihar's legislative assembly elections later this year. Hailing the Bihar linkage of the Indian-origin population in Trinidad and Tobago as a "heritage of Bihar", PM Modi remarked that the "heritage of Bihar" is the "pride of not only India but the world as well." The majority of the Indian-origin population in Trinidad and Tobago traces its ancestry to Bihar's Bhojpuri-speaking regions. Emphasising this cultural connection, PM Modi also highlighted in a social media post that the bond between the two countries is reflected in the shared use of Bhojpuri. "Be it democracy, politics, diplomacy, higher education... Bihar had shown a new direction to the world in many such subjects' centuries ago," he noted. In a move seen by many as a subtle message of his deep respect and regard for Bihar's heritage-especially significant ahead of the upcoming polls-PM Modi struck an emotional chord with the Diaspora during an event held at the National Cycling Velodrome in Couva on Thursday. He said, "The ancestors of many people present here came from Bihar. The heritage of Bihar is the pride of not only India but the world as well". Modi also referred to the ancestral roots of his Trinidad & Tobago counterpart, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, noting that her ancestors hailed from Bihar's Buxar. Describing the cultural significance of being served food on traditional leaves, a gesture he experienced during a dinner hosted in his honour, PM Modi remarked that food served on a "Sohari" leaf holds great cultural importance for people in Trinidad & Tobago, especially those of Indian descent. Tapping into the cultural psyche, Modi added that the people of India regard Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar as a daughter of Bihar.
