PM Modi gifts hand-etched silver lion to Argentine President, silver replica of Ram Temple to T&T PM
During his meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei in Buenos Aires on July 5, the PM gifted the Argentine leader a 'Hand-etched Silver Lion on a Fuchsite Stone Base' from Rajasthan.
The hand-etched silver lion is a striking example of Rajasthan's renowned metalwork and gemstone artistry. The intricately detailed silver lion symbolizes courage and leadership, while the Fuchsite base—known as the 'Stone of Healing and Resilience'—adds natural beauty and meaning. Crafted by skilled Rajasthani artisans using silver and Fuchsite sourced from India's mineral-rich regions, this piece beautifully embodies the country's rich artistic and geological heritage.
To the Vice President of Argentina Victoria Villarruel, he gifted her a Madhubani painting of the Sun. This Madhubani painting showcases one of India's oldest folk art traditions from the Mithila region of Bihar. Renowned for bold lines, intricate patterns, and natural colours, Madhubani art traditionally adorned walls during festivals to bring prosperity and ward off negativity.
This piece highlights the Sun, a symbol of energy and life, surrounded by detailed floral borders and motifs that fill every space—a hallmark of the style. Rooted in cultural heritage and meticulous craftsmanship, it is both a decorative piece and a vibrant tribute to India's enduring folk artistry.
His gift to the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar, on July 4 during their meeting in Port of Spain, comprised a Kalash with Sacred water from River Saryu and a Silver Replica of the Ayodhya Ram temple.
The Kalash, filled with the sacred waters of the River Sarayu, is a revered symbol of purity, blessings, and spiritual grace. The Sarayu, flowing through Ayodhya — the birthplace of Lord Ram — holds deep significance in Hindu tradition, believed to absolve sins and bring peace and prosperity. Crafted in metal, the Kalash embodies abundance and sanctity, making it an auspicious offering or gift that invokes divine protection, health, and spiritual well-being. It connects the giver and receiver to Ayodhya's timeless legacy of Dharma, devotion, and liberation.
The Silver Replica of the Ayodhya Ram temple is a finely handcrafted tribute to one of India's most sacred spiritual sites. Made by skilled artisans from Uttar Pradesh, it captures the grandeur and intricate architecture of the Shri Ram Temple — symbolising dharma, righteousness, and divine blessings. Cast entirely in pure silver, the miniature temple embodies purity, devotion, and cultural pride. Ideal for worship spaces, homes, or as a meaningful gift, it reflects Uttar Pradesh's rich heritage of temple art and metalwork. The silver piece is a timeless keepsake that honours Ayodhya's spiritual legacy and India's sacred traditions.

Russian FM accuses West of moving towards a ‘Fourth Reich' by calling for European militarisation
Moscow, Aug 1 (UNI) In a strong attack against Western nations and their allies, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Germany, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) are pursuing the establishment of a 'Fourth Reich' through their militarisation of Europe, reports RT. The accusation was levied in an article published today in the newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1975 Helsinki Final Act on European security. Accusing the West of betraying the Helsinki Accords- signed to relax the back then strained ties between West and East Europe, emphasising equal status and security to all - he claimed that Western powers have pursued unilateral dominance, NATO expansion, and political interference in sovereign states under the guise of promoting democracy and human rights. Further alleging the Western powers of promoting Russophobia by staying silent 'on the eradication of the Russian language and culture in Ukraine' and the repression of Russian communities in Moldova and other Baltic states, Lavrov cited calls made by former Chancellor Olaf Scholz to rebuild European military superiority through conscription, and kill Russian soldiers in Ukraine if necessary, as signs of Europe's dark descent into 'Nazism'. He argued that the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) has failed in its mission and has instead become a vehicle for Western propaganda and selective enforcement. He claimed that the West ignored Moscow's calls for equitable security guarantees, and that NATO's continued encroachment on Russia's borders left Moscow no choice but to launch a military assault in Ukraine. Calling for 'honest dialogue', Lavrov said that all tensions could be resolved via a new security framework based on sovereign equality and the principles of the UN Charter. 'There will be a place for European countries within this architecture,' he wrote, 'but they certainly will not be the ones calling the tune. If they want to be part of the process, they must learn proper manners, abandon diktat and colonial instincts, and get used to equality and teamwork.' Lavrov concluded by warning that if NATO and the EU continue to hollow out the OSCE's core principles, the organisation may collapse altogether, and history will remember those who 'buried' the last chance for peaceful coexistence in Europe. BJP accuses Congress of 'targeting saints, soldiers, Sanatan Dharma' for vote bank politics
New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) Continuing its tirade against the Congress over the Malegaon Blast case issue following the verdict acquitting all seven accused, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today slammed the Opposition party for what it termed as "targeting saints, soldiers, Sanatan Dharma, and the Constitution" over the past 17 years as part of a "deliberate strategy to malign Hindus for electoral gains". Speaking at a press conference here, party spokesperson Sambit Patra said, 'Saints, soldiers, Sanatan, and the Constitution — Congress attacked all four for 17 years. It was a calculated strategy to malign Hindus for vote bank politics. But in the end, truth has triumphed.' Patra's remarks came in response to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court's acquittal of all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. He alleged that the Congress party, particularly the Gandhi family, had sought to create a false narrative of 'saffron terror', deliberately linking Hindu identity with terrorism. 'The judgment by the NIA court has shattered the false propaganda that Congress tried to spread for years,' he added. Referring to a major revelation, Patra cited former Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officer Mehboob Mujawar, who claimed he was pressured by senior officers and government officials to arrest Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, despite Bhagwat's name not featuring in any charge sheet or investigation report. Mujawar resisted, citing constitutional limits, and faced false allegations and career setbacks. He was later acquitted by the court, Patra said. 'This is a clear example of Congress' vindictive politics under the Gandhi family's leadership,' he asserted, a day after his colleague and senior party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad had sought Congress apology for making remarks that the blast was a case of 'Hindu terror'. Patra also recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi's earlier statement alleging that a senior Congress leader had met American intelligence officials and labelled 'Hindu terror' a bigger threat than the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). 'Everyone knows who that leader is,' he remarked, indirectly referring to the Gandhi family. He further criticised Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan for his comments that 'terrorism has no religion' while simultaneously referring to 'Sanatani or Hindu terrorism.' Patra also cited former Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's admission that his 'saffron terror' remarks were made under party directives. UNI AJ RN

Putin reiterates Moscow's stance on settlement with Ukraine, says demands remain unchanged
Moscow, Aug 1 (UNI) Reiterating Moscow's core demands for reaching a peace settlement with Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that the Kremlin's demands remain unchanged. Speaking after a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Putin emphasised the continued relevance and necessity of negotiations, but also underscored that resolving the conflict ultimately depends on addressing its root causes, reports RIA Novosti. 'The talks are important and always in demand,' he said, noting that Russia's conditions regarding settlement are still what they were, when first laid out in the summer of 2024. These include Ukraine not being part of any military alliance, commit to maintaining its non-nuclear status, and the state recognition of its four captured regions - Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye — as part of Russia, and lastly, the lifting of all sanctions imposed on Moscow. Putin stressed that any agreement should pave the way for long-term peace without time constraints, and said Russia is open to waiting if Kyiv is unwilling to engage on these terms. He added that broader European security must be taken into account when discussing a Ukrainian settlement. Confirming Moscow's recent battlefield advances, he said that Russian troops had indeed taken control of the town of Chasov Yar and continue to push forward along the front. He further claimed that thousands of Ukrainian soldiers' remains had been handed back, while Russia received dozens of its own fallen troops. Lukashenko echoing Putin's stance, faulted the failure of negotiations on Kyiv, attributing them to Ukraine's 'impossible demands.' He went on to state that if the US genuinely seeks peace, the White House must play a more constructive role in the process, and voiced total readiness by Minsk to join future talks if need be and voiced full support for Russia's negotiating position. The third round of peace talks in Istanbul, held behind closed doors on July 23 at the historic Ciragan Palace, lasted about an hour. They followed a private meeting between Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky and Ukraine's National Security Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, both of whom have led previous rounds of dialogue. According to Medinsky, discussions included humanitarian concerns, such as the return of civilians displaced by military activity in Russia's Kursk Region. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov later told reporters that while high-level engagement is expected to finalise any eventual settlement, the current positions of Moscow and Kyiv remain 'diametrically opposed,' and compromise is unlikely in the immediate future.
