Did you feel it? 2.9 magnitude earthquake recorded in Colorado
DENVER (KDVR) — An earthquake was recorded in Colorado on Friday morning, but it likely wasn't felt by most of the state.
The United States Geological Survey recorded an earthquake near St. Vrain in Dacono, Colorado, at 6:08 a.m. with a 2.9 magnitude. Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Greg Perez said the magnitude is like someone touching the back of your chair.
While this is considered a weak earthquake, people in the area felt it.

Several people reported feeling the earthquake to the U.S. agency. People in Broomfield, Lafayette, Denver, Longmont, Dacono, Erie, Frederick and Brighton said they felt a weak earthquake.
Earthquakes happen when there are sudden movements of the Earth along a fault that cause shaking at the surface, according to the Colorado Geological Survey. While it's uncommon for an earthquake to cause major damage in Colorado, it's not exactly rare for Colorado to see earthquakes.
The agency said Colorado is an 'active tectonic province' with still-rising mountains that have thousands of faults, including 90 potentially active faults and more than 700 recorded earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or higher since 1867.
Most of these earthquakes are hardly felt, but the agency said the state has experienced magnitudes of 6.5 or higher and human-triggered earthquakes in recorded history, and it could periodically see larger earthquakes in the future.

Hottest weather so far this year moves in this weekend
Hotter weather continues to move into New Mexico this weekend. Albuquerque and other places in the state will likely see their first 100° day of the year. Temperatures continue to heat up across New Mexico Friday afternoon. Several places in southern parts of the climbed into the triple-digits with the 90s up to Santa Fe and southern Colorado once again. A few storms popped up in eastern New Mexico this afternoon, but these storms are much more isolated than what we've seen the last few days. Those storms have moved out of the state tonight as temperatures stay warm overnight. A near-record strong area of high pressure will build over the state this weekend. This will bring not only the hottest weather so far this year, but also near-record and a few record high temperatures Sunday. Triple-digit high temperatures will be possible as far north as Albuquerque and Farmington. Drier air will continue to move into the state as well. A few spotty showers will still be possible in the afternoons around the Sacramento Mountains and near the Texas state line in eastern New Mexico. The near-record and record breaking heat will continue into next Monday. High temperatures will be a couple degrees cooler Tuesday and Wednesday. But this will be short lived before they climb again Wednesday and Thursday. Dry air will continue with very little to no chances for rain into the end of next week. Showers continue throughout the weekend, when will they move out?
A stationary front will continue to bring chances of rain to the Miami Valley through the overnight hours. Lows tonight will be in the mid 60s. Tomorrow highs will be in the lower 80s with on and off shower and thunderstorm chances through the entire day, but it won't be a washout, with coverage being scattered. Rain moves out Sunday night, beginning the work week with some sunshine, temperatures in the 80s and dry weather. Another low pressure forms and moves in on Tuesday bringing another round of showers and storms Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s for the rest of the week.
