The big question entering the FIFA Club World Cup final is whether any team can defeat Paris Saint-Germain when so much is on the line.
The French super powerhouse has taken teams part since winning the UEFA Champions League crown on May 24, outscoring its foes by an absurd 21-1 margin.
It will be Chelsea's charge to find a way to overcome what has been club soccer's juggernaut in the FIFA Club World Cup at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
PSG will try to complete its quest for a rare quintuple - five championships in a year. The four already in the trophy case includes four domestic trophies - French Ligue 1, Couple de France and French Super Cup - and internationally, the UEFA Champions League, with a possible fifth in the Club World Cup.
To truly appreciate what Les Parisiens has accomplished, it must be noted that it takes some teams decades to accrue that many titles and honors.
That's how fabulous the French team has been.

"This is the last game in the season we've been feeling good," PSG head coach Luis Enrique said at a press conference on Friday. "We've had a very good year, and for us, it's very important to finish this historic season in the best possible way. It's very important for us, for the club and for our fans."
"We have been absolutely incredible. ... But if I were to analyze our entire season, I would say it was an extraordinary season."

PSG captain and center back Marquinhos won't take anything for granted. He realized it was a rare opportunity to take home the Club World Cup trophy to Paris.
"This is a tournament that is held every four years only, and we have this opportunity to be here in the final and to compete for the title," he said. "Since our first day here, the coach has been mentioning that. The coach said this was an opportunity, a really major opportunity, a golden opportunity for us, because we don't know what things will look like in four years. We don't know if players will have another opportunity to play in this tournament. So, since our first day here, we've had it in our minds.
"This has been a fun tournament to play, playing against opponents that we're not used to playing. It's different from the Champions League. ... We really want to go grab this title. This would make it an absolutely perfect season, which would be very hard to replicate."
Since rolling past Inter Milan, 5-0 in the UEFA final on May 31, PSG has outscored its opposition by an absurd 21-1 margin in its last seven matches.

The lone loss was a 1-0 defeat to Botafogo, which defended magnificently, in the second group stage match on June 19. Igor Jesus has the distinction of being only player to solve the backline and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The other five CWC contests have been by a shutout.
Les Rouge-et-Bleu started its onslaught with a 4-0 trouncing of Atletico in its tournament opener before coming back down to earth in a 1-0 loss to Botafogo. The Paris team then reeled off four consecutive clean sheets, including a 4-0 rout of Inter Miami CF in the Round of 16 and a 4-0 demolition of Real Madrid in the July 9 semifinals.
Asked if he thought whether PSG are currently the best team in the world, Real head coach Xabi Alonso replied: "I'd say yes. They've been together for years and play at an incredibly high level. They work as a team and they're tough to play against. That's the benchmark for us now."
And for just about everyone else.
When the French side is playing with all cylinders running and its press in high gear, it can score goals in bunches.
For example, PSG scored three goals in the final nine minutes of the opening half against Inter Miami and Lionel Messi, turning a close game into a romp on June 29. On Wednesday, July 9, the squad struck twice in the opening nine minutes while adding a third in the 24th minute against one of the top teams in the world.

PSG might not necessarily have a superstar in the caliber of Kylian Mbappe or Neymar, or Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in their prime. But the team has 11 superb players in its Starting XI that compete well together. And the team's reserves are deep, as well.
When a reporter at Friday's press conference brought up the fact, Enrique responded: "Thank you. Bravo. You ended saying the best thing you could say, 11 stars. That's football. We don't want just one main player. We want 11 stars. And I would say 13-15, stars even. That's what we need in our sport. That's our commitment, and the commitment we got from the managers and the president and myself."
Eleven players have found the net in this competition, with Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz, who scored twice against Real Madrid, leading the way with three goals.
'We have always said that the collective work by the players is what's helping us," Ruiz said. "We are a great group, a young group that is working well.'
Friend and foe think so.
LONDON, ENGLAND - FEBRUARY 25: Former Chelsea Player, John Obi Mikel presents prior to the Carabao ... More Cup Final match between Chelsea and Liverpool at Wembley Stadium on February 25, 2024 in London, England. (Photo by)
Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel said on DAZN, the streaming service that has broadcast every CWC match, said that PSG was the one team every side wanted to avoid.
'I don't think anybody wants to play PSG right now,' he said. 'Every team in the world right now is looking at them asking 'how can we play like this?' Everything they did was an absolute masterclass.'
Chelsea, of course, hopes to have something to say about whether PSG will take a victory lap around MetLife.
The Blues captured the UEFA Conference League crown, defeating Real Betis, 4-1. They also finished fourth in the Premier League to book spot in the Champions League for the 2025-26 campaign.

Chelsea wants to defy the experts
Captain Reece James felt his team could defy the odds and prognostications.
'This game is a super high-level game," he said. "They are one of the hottest teams in the world at the moment. They are down as strong favorites. But I have been in finals where I have played for the favorites and not come out on top. So, this doesn't mean much to me ... that everyone is 'bigging up' our opposition.
'PSG have beaten all the English teams. They have an amazing team, but we have an amazing team and have surprised a lot of people. We've come a long way on our journey from where we started. We are preparing right and going there to win.
'I believe we will go toe-to-toe. Stats, data, favorites and not favorites don't mean anything to our team.'

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca said that Sunday's affair would be similar to a chess match.
"I love to play chess and watch chess," he said. "I feel football is like a game of chess and when the rival makes a move, you have to counteract it and I think this will be like a chess game. They are a top team in Europe and the world, maybe the best in the world, but every game is different, and we will try to do a good game.
"PSG is best team in world and they have showed that in this tournament, showed it in France and in the Champions League. Of course it'll be a difficult game for us, but we are preparing ourselves in the best way possible."
Considering what PSG has done to its opposition in the FIFA Club World Cup, best just might not be good enough on Sunday.

NFL Top 100: Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield is No. 50, will play the Cardinals in 2025

This week, the NFL began its sixth week revealing players in the "NFL Top 100." This week, players 41-50 will be revealed. On Monday, a player the Arizona Cardinals will face in the back half of this coming season came in at No. 50. Player No. 50 is Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield. He was not in the top 100 in 2024. Mayfield led the Bucs to the playoffs for the second straight year, winning the NFC South, giving the Bucs five straight playoff appearances. He had his best season in 2024, completing 71.4% of his passes for 4,500 yards, 41 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He was third in the NFL in passing yards, third in completion percentage and second in touchdown passes. He also led the NFL in interceptions. "The ultimate teammate," said running back Rachaad White, Mayfield's teammate. Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon, No. 58 in the top 100, said Mayfield "wakes up, like he says, feeling dangerous." He is the closest thing to Brett Favre this generation has seen. He is a gamer, an incredible competitor. He "can make some crazy plays," according to 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. Saints safety J.T. Gray said Mayfield has "a Superman ability." However, he has never beaten the Cardinals. He is 0-3 against the Cardinals and Kyler Murray, his old buddy at Oklahoma. The Cardinals have a six-game stretch to end the 2025 regular season with four games against 2024 division winners and two teams that just missed the playoffs last season. That stretch opens in Week 13 with the Bucs on the road. Can Murray and the Cardinals keep Mayfield winless against them one more time? We will see. Why Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona planned meeting if team had lost to Cubs

CHICAGO – If Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona seemed as locked in as his players during this week's high-adversity series opener at Wrigley Field, maybe it's because he was. 'I was so into the whole game,' he said, 'because we wanted to win. And nobody felt sorry for themselves or for us. 'In fact, if we'd have lost, I probably would have talked to them.' Blindsided by an unplanned bullpen game for the second day in a row after their long, wet ordeal in the Bristol Motor Speedway sideshow game over the weekend, Reds reliever after Reds reliever kept the Chicago Cubs in check for a comeback, 3-2 win Monday night No need for a message after a finish like that. Besides, veteran Brent Suter did the inspirational honors well enough after the game anyway, Francona said. But had they lost another tough one after all that rain, extra travel and the sudden finger blister that waylaid their hottest starting pitcher in the second inning? 'That's what mean,' Francona said. 'We've had a lot thrown at us. And sometimes your margin for error's less. 'OK, then let's not make errors. Let's just play the game the way we know how.' 'This can be our time to shine. We don't have to feel sorry for ourselves.' The Reds went from the mess of Bristol, Tennessee, into the teeth of a final 50-game stretch run that opened with three against the Cubs and two of the next three series after that against two more of the NL's top teams: Philadelphia and Milwaukee. 'Divisional games are huge, especially where we are in the season,' said closer Emilio Pagán, who earned a career-high 24th save with a 1-2-3 ninth. 'And so we talked about it as we're not going to have any excuses moving forward.' That seems to especially apply to bullpen core that has carried a heavy load at times – none more than Scott Barlow, who has pitched in six of the Reds' last seven games, including two innings Monday. 'Everybody down there just wants the ball at all times,' Barlow said. 'We've just kind of had the attitude of, 'Bring it on.' Yankees slide continues thanks to walk-off Rangers HR in extras; Aaron Judge could return as soon as Tuesday

A change of venue was not the cure for what's ailing the New York Yankees. Help could soon be on the way. Prior to Monday's game against the Texas Rangers, manager Aaron Boone announced that MVP slugger Aaron Judge could return to the lineup from injury as soon as Tuesday. But Judge was of no help to the Yankees Monday night. Hours after Boone's announcement, the Yankees lost, 8-5 to the Rangers in heartbreaking, walk-off fashion. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] Yankees blow lead, lose on walk-off The Yankees struck first with a leadoff home run by Paul Goldschmidt, then took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the second inning. But the Rangers batted around in the second to take a 4-3 lead. The Yankees retook the lead and held a 5-4 advantage heading into the bottom of the ninth. There, pinch hitter Joc Pederson sent it to extras. With the bases empty and one out, Pederson launched a 2-1 Devin Williams changeup over the plate into the right-field stands to tie the game at 5-5. The blown save was the third of the season for Williams, a two-time All-Star and lights-out closer with the Milwaukee Brewers. With Pederson's home run, Williams' ERA in his first season in New York inflated to 5.10. The blast set up Josh Jung for his 10th-inning heroics. With a man on second and two outs, the Yankees intentionally walked Wyatt Langford to get to Jung in the six slot. Reliever Jake Bird left a 1-1 sinker thigh-high and just inside that Jung turned on. The result was a no-doubt home run into the left-field stands that ended the game. Yankees in free-fall, face critical games vs. Rangers The loss was the Yankees' fourth straight following an unprecedented three-game sweep at the hands of the Miami Marlins. They're now 7-10 since the All-Star break. The defeat dropped the once first-place Yankees to 60-53, 5.5 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the AL East and 2.5 games behind the rival Boston Red Sox, who won their sixth straight game Monday night. It also left them with a 1.5-game cushion over the Rangers and in a tie with the Seattle Mariners for the last wild-card spot in the American League. This three-game series against the Rangers could end up proving critical for the postseason standings, and it's already going bad for New York. Judge can't return soon enough. Will Judge play Tuesday night? Judge has missed 10 straight games with a flexor strain in his right elbow that landed him on the injured list. He took batting practice over the weekend and is eligible to return to the lineup Tuesday. Boone told reporters Monday that that's the plan. Or he thinks it is, at least. "I think that's the plan,' Boone said of starting Judge Tuesday night. Barring risk of further injury, expect Judge to play on Tuesday if there's any way that he can.
