CM Yogi to preside over Ram Darbar pran pratishtha in Ayodhya today
At 11 am, the rituals will commence with Vedic chanting and havan. A key moment of the event will be the ceremonial 'uncovering of the eyes' of Lord Ram and Sita's idols by the chief minister, symbolising the completion of the pran pratishtha (consecration) process, the trust said.
The ceremony comes amid rapid transformation in Ayodhya, where development projects worth more than ₹32,000 crore have been executed in the last eight years. Key landmarks like the upgraded Ram Katha Park, a revitalised Saryu riverfront, and new facilities at temple sites have become symbols of the city's growth.
Special aartis and cultural programs will take place on the banks of the Saryu River to mark Saryu Trayodashi Janmotsav. The district administration has made elaborate security arrangements for the event.
Shashikant Maharaj, president of Anjani Seva Sansthan, said, 'Raja Ram will be ceremonially reinstalled. Just as Guru Vashishtha did during Treta Yuga, Yogi ji will now perform the tilak. He has worked relentlessly to restore Ayodhya's lost glory.' 'Eight years ago, people were afraid to walk from Naya Ghat to Guptar Ghat after dark. Today, places like Aarti Ghat are hubs of devotion and celebration.'
He added that the annual Deepotsav became a medium to signal Lord Ram's return to Ayodhya: 'Through Deepotsav, he conveyed to the world that Raja Ram is returning to Ayodhya. Now, that dream has come true.'

UP Police functioning improved due to hard work, smart tech use: Yogi
Lucknow: Highlighting the changes in the state's law and order machinery since 2017, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that under the previous govts, it used to take years to catch criminals, but now they are apprehended within 24-48 hours. He said that with hard work and smart use of technology, UP Police have ensured that no criminal has the chance to escape the law. Addressing the opening ceremony of a three-day summit on 'Dimensions of cyber warfare, multilateral legal frameworks, forensics, and strategic countermeasures' organised by the Uttar Pradesh Institute of Forensic Sciences, the CM attributed this improvement to the better use of technology and forensic science. "Before 2017, there were only four forensic labs in the state, and their condition was terrible. Now, 12 new labs have been established, and six more are under construction. Mobile forensic units are being provided in 75 districts to collect forensic evidence," he said. "Cyber police stations have been established in all 75 districts to tackle cybercrimes, and cyber help desks have been set up in 1,587 police stations. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it better to shower in the morning or at night? The CM added that a cyber headquarters would be set up in the state and efforts were being made to strengthen and empower UP Police. "To ensure proper and quick resolution of cases, it has been made mandatory to collect forensic evidence in every crime in the state since 2017," he said. "UP Police has improved its working style, and no criminal has a chance to escape the law. This is solely the result of the hard work of the police force and the smart use of technology. The UP Police force should update itself with modern technology to create a safe and technologically capable society for future generations. The govt's effort to modernise the country's largest police force will continue," he said. Earlier, the CM invoked the Maha Kumbh, saying that the govt made extensive use of technology to make the event highly successful. "According to Indian tradition, Kumbh is organised at four locations where nectar fell after a churning. Since Vedic era, churnings have led to the emergence of nectar or 'amrit', and events like the Kumbh not only keep India's ancient knowledge traditions alive but also serve as a medium for unity and exchange of ideas in society," he said. "Indian culture has always supported opening of all paths of knowledge. Indian culture believes that it is essential to develop and prepare oneself with time. UP Police must also be prepared to face upcoming challenges so that future generations can remember us with pride," he said. "This seminar will prepare society to tackle current challenges and will upgrade UP Police for future," the CM said. Earlier in the day, the CM also inaugurated the Padma Shri Dr Lalji Singh Advanced DNA Diagnostic Centre, AI, drone and robotics lab, Atal library, and distributed smart tablets to students. He also flagged off 75 mobile forensic vans. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). 'Remove Names That Glorify Invaders': UP BJP MLA Demands Renaming Of Ghazipur
Last Updated: Singh said she had written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and urged both the state and central governments to act on her request BJP MLA from Bansdih, Ketakee Singh, on Monday demanded that the Ghazipur district in Uttar Pradesh be renamed after Maharishi Gautam, citing the need to shed names that 'glorify invaders" and to restore pride in India's cultural heritage. Speaking to reporters at her residence in Bansdih, Singh said she had written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and urged both the state and central governments to act on her request. 'All such names that remind us of our times of disgrace, which have been kept to glorify the invaders and praise them, all such names should be removed and the birthplace of great men, should be named after them. I want that Ghazipur district's name should be changed," Singh said. The 41-year-old legislator further said that renaming the district would inspire future generations. Drawing parallels with the renaming of Allahabad to Prayagraj, she argued that recognising Indian heritage through place names was an important cultural correction. 'Changing the name will inspire the coming generation. How can a country that forgets its history, build its future? If you forget your origin, you will never be able to build a future," Singh said. Maharishi Gautam is a revered sage in Hindu tradition, known as the father of Maharishi Parashuram, an important figure in Indian mythology and considered the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Gautam is also credited with authoring the ancient text Gautama Dharmasutra, and is associated with deep spiritual practice and Vedic knowledge. He is believed to have lived and meditated in the region that now falls within modern-day Ghazipur. Ghazipur district, located along the banks of the holy river Ganges, holds significant historical value dating back to the Sultanate and Mughal periods. The name 'Ghazipur" is widely believed to have originated from Saiyyad Masood Ghazi, who is remembered for fostering Hindu-Muslim unity and establishing the city in 1330 A.D. Some historical accounts attribute its founding to Ustad Ghazi Mashook. The region was an important halt for Mughal emperors and their armies, given its strategic location. Townships such as Zamania and Kasimabad also bear names linked to prominent figures of the era, including Saiyyad Ali Kuli Khan and Sheikh Abdullah.
