KUWAIT CITY, April 12: The Juvenile Welfare Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Security Media at the Ministry of Interior, has launched the "Be Aware" awareness campaign. Coinciding with Gulf Traffic Week, the campaign aims to raise legal and traffic awareness among juveniles.
The campaign was officially kicked off with its first awareness lecture on Saturday, held in the multi-purpose hall of the Juvenile Welfare Department building. The event was attended by several department officials and employees, along with parents and juvenile probation cases. The lecture was delivered by Major Musaed Al-Aslawi, Head of the Traffic Awareness Department, and Warrant Officer Hamad Al-Eidan.
The session included visual and audio presentations about the new traffic law, as well as open discussions aimed at reinforcing traffic safety concepts and highlighting the dangers of unsafe road behavior.
Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Social Welfare Affairs, Dr. Jassim Al-Kandari, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to protect and educate young people. He noted that the "Be Aware" campaign represents a genuine partnership between state institutions to promote both behavioral and legal values among youth.
Dr. Al-Kandari further explained, "We believe that early awareness is the foundation for building a disciplined generation that is not only aware of its country's laws but also capable of making a positive contribution to the community. We greatly appreciate the role of security media and its constructive cooperation in supporting these valuable initiatives."

Kuwait exempts 3 categories from Debtors Imprisonment Law

KUWAIT CITY, May 25: The Enforcement General Department at the Ministry of Justice has specified three categories of individuals exempted from the provisions of the Debtors Imprisonment Law. These categories are student stipends, rent allowances paid by the government to some citizens, and social assistance disbursed by the Ministry of Social Affairs. The department emphasized that these benefits granted by the State to some individuals will not be seized if those receiving them are in debt. Meanwhile, sources confirmed to the newspaper that the department continues to hold meetings to develop mechanisms for implementing arrest and summons against debtors, taking into account the humanitarian and social aspects of some categories of debtors. Sources said the department's meetings concluded that the law will be implemented in the best possible manner, 'without prejudice to the rights of creditors,' while taking into account the humanitarian and living conditions of some categories of debtors. They pointed out that the legal amendments aim to prevent defaults on debt and fines, given the large percentage of people who, despite their financial ability, delay paying their children's monthly expenses after separation from their mothers without justification. The new law aims to rectify these conditions and oblige debtors to fulfill their financial obligations, not evade them.

Ministry of Interior Arrests Cooperative Manager in Bribery Case

KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The Ministry of Interior has reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to taking strict action against individuals who abuse their official roles or exploit their positions for personal gain. This stance aligns with the directives of Kuwait's political leadership and the country's adherence to international standards in combating all forms of corruption. In a recent statement, the ministry announced the arrest of a Kuwaiti citizen employed as a manager at a cooperative society. He was apprehended after being accused of soliciting a bribe in exchange for fulfilling tasks associated with his official duties. The arrest followed the filing of an official complaint with the relevant security authorities. The ministry revealed that, in coordination with the Public Prosecution, legal authorization was obtained to record meetings and conversations related to the case. These interactions were documented through audio and video recordings, ultimately leading to the suspect being caught in the act and referred to the appropriate legal authority for further action. Describing the offense as a serious crime that undermines public trust in government institutions, the Ministry of Interior emphasized its zero-tolerance approach to corruption and breach of public trust. It also urged citizens and residents to promptly report any similar misconduct—such as demands for bribes or gifts by public employees—while highlighting that Kuwaiti law offers immunity from punishment to anyone who reports such crimes, whether before or after they occur. The Ministry of Social Affairs added that the arrested individual had been appointed through a four-member committee consisting of representatives from the Public Authority for Manpower, the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies, and the concerned cooperative society. His appointment was processed via the "Fakhrna" platform. The case has now been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Arrested Cooperative Society manager was appointed through official procedures: Ministry

KUWAIT CITY, April 14: The Ministry of Social Affairs confirmed that the individual recently arrested by security authorities, as reported on social media, is the General Manager of a cooperative society. He was appointed through a four-member committee after submitting his application via the 'Fakhrna' platform. In a press statement issued on Sunday, the ministry stated that the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution. It urged the public to verify the accuracy of circulated information and to rely on official sources to avoid potential legal consequences. The ministry further clarified that the four-member committee responsible for appointing general managers in cooperative societies includes representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Public Authority for Manpower, the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies, and the cooperative society concerned. Emphasizing that this is an isolated incident, the ministry stressed that it does not reflect the overall integrity of Kuwait's pioneering cooperative movement. It also noted that a specialized working team has been formed to follow up on the case and provide detailed information as the matter develops.
