Clip of Actress Arabella Stanton in Acting Class Has HARRY POTTER Fans Convinced She'll Be a Perfect Hermione — GeekTyrant

Last week, it was revealed that the upcoming Warner Bros. HBO series based on the Harry Potter book series had found its young lead actors. It was announced that Dominic McLaughlin will take up the iconic round glasses and lightning scar as Harry Potter; Arabella Stanton steps into the brilliant, bold shoes of Hermione Granger; and Alastair Stout rounds out the trio as Ron Weasley. While these three kids are new to us now, they will likely become household names as the show continues, just as the actors who took on the roles in the films. But because they are newcomers, we don't have anything to verify that they are good for the role yet, aside from the fact that they were chosen from tons of others in a very selective process. It's a wait and see situation, for the most part, with one exception. A new clip has surfaced on Reddit, which shows actress Arabella Stanton in a scene from her acting class, which has Hermione Granger written all over it. Check it out at the link, and get ready to dive back into the world of Hogwarts on the HBO series, coming to our screens in 2026.

Harvey Weinstein Doesn't Plan to Testify at New York Retrial

Harvey Weinstein doesn't plan to testify at his sex crimes retrial in New York City. Weinstein's lawyer Arthur Aidala shared the news on Sunday, the Associated Press reported. The trial is set to proceed with closing arguments on Tuesday, as the court does not hear the case on Mondays. The charges stem from accusations by former model Kaja Sokola, former TV production assistant Miriam Haley — the first accuser to testify in Weinstein's retrial — and former aspiring actor Jessica Mann. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts. Weinstein's defense began calling witnesses last week, and according to AP, the former movie mogul had been weighing whether to take the stand. 'He wanted to testify, and we respect that instinct. But at this stage, doing so could unfairly damage his credibility,' Weinstein spokesperson Juda Engelmayer said in a statement to Variety. 'Our position is one of caution, not evasion.' On Friday, May 30, the jury heard from witness Talita Maia through a transcript read aloud by court staff. Maia, a former friend and roommate of accuser Jessica Mann, previously testified during Weinstein's 2020 New York trial. She was unavailable for the current proceedings, so jurors heard a reading of her earlier testimony. In it, Maia testified that Mann never expressed discomfort around Weinstein and never indicated that he had assaulted her in any way at the time of an alleged assault in 2013. Other witnesses called by the defense included Thomas Richards, another former friend of Mann's who met her sometime in 2011 or 2012, and Helga Semulsen, a former friend of Sokola's who briefly shared a New York apartment with her in the fall of 2005. Weinstein didn't testify at his first New York trial, nor at a separate rape trial in L.A. that occurred in 2022, in which he was also convicted and has appealed the verdict. File Photo by Paul Treadway/ UPI | License Photo June 2 (UPI) -- Focus Features is previewing Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale. A teaser trailer released Monday includes a nod to late actress Maggie Smith, who portrayed Lady Violet in the Downton Abbey franchise. The preview shows Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) gazing at a portrait of Violet, her late grandmother. Smith, who was also well-known for her role as Professor McGonagall in the Harry Potter film series, died in September. She was 89 years old. Hugh Bonneville, who portrays Violet's son Robert in Downton Abbey, described Smith as "a true legend of her generation." "Anyone who ever shared a scene with Maggie will attest to her sharp eye, sharp wit and formidable talent," he said at the time. Bonneville is among the many cast members returning for the third Downton Abbey film. Downton Abbey opened in theaters in 2019, while Downton Abbey: A New Era arrived in 2022. The movies serve as sequels to the ITV series. Other returning stars include Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Phyllis Logan, Robert James-Collier, Joanne Froggatt, Allen Leech, Penelope Wilton, Lesley Nichol, Michael Fox, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Kevin Doyle, Harry Hadden-Paton, Sophie McShera, Douglas Reith and Dominic West. Paul Giamatti, Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale and Arty Frouhshan join the cast in the upcoming film. The series initially aired on ITV in 2010 and ran through 2015.
