Every National Day, McDonald's Singapore adds a local twist to their menu with items like the Nasi Lemak Burger, Ha Cheong Gai Burger and Satay Burger.
This year, in celebration of SG60, they're taking things up a notch as they team up with popular Singaporean restaurant Jumbo Seafood to release the new Chilli Crab Sauce Burger alongside other local food-inspired menu items from July 10, the fast-food chain announced at a press event today (July 8).
This marks McDonald's Singapore's and Jumbo Seafood's first collaboration.
The Chilli Crab Sauce Burger will come in two variants: the Chilli Crab Sauce Prawn Burger and Chilli Crab Sauce Chicken Burger — both served with lettuce, scrambled egg, brioche buns and doused with a sweet, tangy and slightly spicy chilli crab sauce.
According to McDonald's Singapore, the chilli crab sauce used is inspired by Jumbo Seafood's award-winning chilli crab recipe and had been in development since August 2024, with more than 50 iterations before being approved by the restaurant.
Ang Kiam Meng, executive chairman and group CEO of Jumbo Group, said in a press release: "Chilli Crab holds a special place in every Singaporean's heart, and it's exciting to see this iconic dish reimagined so creatively.
"While rooted in our rich heritage, we're always looking to innovate, and this partnership with McDonald's is a fantastic way to showcase our signature chilli crab sauce in a fresh, bold way."
Prices for the Chilli Crab Sauce Burgers start from $8.95 for an Extra Value Meal.
For those who can't get enough of the sauce, the Chilli Crab Sauce Tub will also be available for purchase at $1.
Other new local food-inspired menu items for this year's National Day include Kampung Drumlets (from $3.35) featuring drumlets coated in a blend of chilli, turmeric, cumin and ginger; and Ice Dinosaur (from $4.15), a take on Singapore's iconic Milo Dinosaur drink.
This National Day menu launch will also see the return of the Pulut Hitam Pie (from $1.80) and Chendol Cone (from $1.30). Limited-edition Lunch Bag
In addition to the new menu, McDonald's Singapore will also be releasing a limited-edition McDonald's Lunch Bag — a thermal insulated bag carrier from July 28 at 11am.
The lunch bag will be available at $7.90 with purchase of any meal (excluding Happy Meals).
McDonald's members will get early access from July 24, 2pm to 6pm and will be able to redeem the McDonald's Lunch Bag for 1,500 MyM reward points exclusively on the McDonald's app.
The item will be distributed at a first-come-first-served basis and while stocks last.

Sumo Salad had valid insurance coverage for work injury claims: MOM

Sign up now: Get ST's newsletters delivered to your inbox Ms Jane Lee died a day after posting two Facebook messages on July 18, alleging that a former staff member had faked a fall just two days before the end of her contract. SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said salad shop Sumo Salad was covered by a valid insurance policy when an alleged work injury involving a staff member occurred on June 6. The salad shop's owner, the late Ms Jane Lee, had submitted an incident report to MOM soon after. As at June 27, the company had been reimbursed by its insurer for the medical expenses and medical leave wages it had claimed, MOM told reporters during a briefing on Aug 1. When asked whether there were outstanding claims after June 27, the ministry said the claims process has not concluded as investigations are still ongoing . Before finalising a claim, doctors must assess the extent of an injured worker's incapacity, which determines the amount of lump-sum compensation for the worker. MOM added that it has not received any indication from the insurer of potential fraud, but emphasised that the possibility cannot be ruled out. Ms Lee died on July 19, a day after she posted two Facebook posts alleging that a former staff member had staged a fall in an attempt to claim workplace injury compensation. She believed her company was targeted because of 'an unfortunate gap' in insurance coverage. Top stories Swipe. Select. Stay informed. The incident has sparked wider discussions about challenges faced by small business owners in Singapore, and the need for stronger safeguards against abuses of the Work Injury Compensation Act (Wica). MOM said the worker involved in this case is still in Singapore on a Special Pass, which is typically issued temporarily to those whose work permits have been cancelled and are awaiting departure, or for specific purposes such as assisting with investigation and attending court. MOM said insurers had referred about 12 claims a year for investigation into potential fraud. Over the last five years, the ministry had prosecuted about two workers a year for fraudulent claims . These workers were jailed between three and 13 weeks. The maximum penalty is a jail term of up to 12 months, or a $15,000 fine, or both. Employers who fail to buy insurance for their manual workers, and non-manual workers earning $2,600 a month or less, may be fined up to $10,000, jailed up to 12 months, or both. In the last five years, MOM had prosecuted about two employers a year for such offences. MOM said the ministry conducts audit checks on employers for their Wica coverage. 'When we detect they do not have any insurance, we will nudge them,' an MOM spokesman said, adding that a grace period is given to employers to buy or renew insurance. MOM added that over the past three years, 94 per cent of all work injury claims were paid by insurers. For the remaining 6 per cent, most were paid directly by employers exempted from buying the Workplace Injury Compensation (WIC) insurance. Generally, employers with insurance coverage can be reimbursed for medical expenses as well as wages paid to workers on medical leave. The insurer will make lump sum compensations to workers or their family in the event of death, permanent incapacity or incapacity that remains six months post-injury, based on doctors' assessments. If there are disputes on the degree of permanent incapacity awarded, the case will be referred to the WIC Medical Board for independent reassessment.

England lead the five-match series 2-1, with hosts India at 204-6 at the end of day one of the final test at The Oval on Thursday. Woakes picked up the injury after falling heavily as he dived to try to prevent a boundary by Karun Nair at long-off. BridgePoint Health awarded tender for Bidadari clinic with $18,000 rental

Sign up now: Get ST's newsletters delivered to your inbox A staggered rent structure will be implemented to help tenants of newly-constructed shops in new estates. SINGAPORE - Bridgepoint Health has been awarded the tender for a General Practitioner (GP) clinic at the newly completed Bartley Beacon, a Build-To-Order (BTO) project in Bidadari. In a joint statement on Aug 1, the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Housing & Development Board (HDB) said the tender was awarded under the new Price-Quality Method (PQM), where tenders are evaluated based on both price and quality factors. Bridgepoint Health's care teams consist of family physicians, administrators, other health professionals, and specialists. It works with Northeast Medical Group, with a total of 20 clinics planned and in operation island-wide. A total of 18 bids were received for the tender which opened on May 8 2025 and closed on May 29. Under the pilot, the tender price – or the rental bid – accounted for 30 per cent of the scoring criteria, and was evaluated by HDB. The quality of the tender proposal accounted for the remaining 70 per cent, and was assessed by MOH. The awarded monthly rent is $18,000 for the clinic space of about 100sqm, which is twice the size of a typical clinic. The cost per square metre is $180, lower than the average awarded bid of $382 per sqm for GP clinic tenders awarded in new housing projects in the last three years, said MOH and HDB. This comes after the monthly rental bid for a GP clinic in Tampines was reported at $52,188 for a 52sqm ground-floor unit, bringing the cost per square metre to about $1,003.60, in early June. He also noted that higher rental bids do not necessarily translate to the best healthcare that the community needs. Bridgepoint Health will have to be onboarded by Healthier SG as part of the Primary Care Network, and will have to be Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) accredited. Additionally, the clinic will have to refrain from providing aesthetic services and instead focus solely on providing primary care services, said MOH and HDB. The clinic will also be able to provide basic ancillary services such as Diabetic Retinal Photography (DRP), Diabetic Foot Screening (DFS), and nurse counselling for diabetic patients. It will remain part of the Mental Health General Practitioner Partnership (MHGPP) and manage patients with more complex mental health conditions, while offering most of their services onsite to reduce the need for referrals. Three more GP clinic tenders are to be launched under the pilot PQM framework in 2025. The next PQM tender will be launched at Costa Grove, a BTO project in Pasir Ris. Another two PQM tenders, at Parc Point and Toh Guan Grove, will be launched by the end of 2025. To help tenants of newly-constructed shops in new estates, HDB has a staggered rent structure in place over the first three-year tenancy term, said the statement. Tenants will be required to pay 80 per cent of tendered rent in the first year, 90 per cent in the second year, and the full tendered rent in the third year.
